Just Because card

One more project complete for June.    Then its time to do a major clean-up on my desk.   I have a mess going on for sure.

I'm entering this card in 3 challenges to close out the month for me.

I'll start out with "Tuesday Morning Sketches" and I used sketch #307 for the challenge that was just announced today.

Next I'm entering the "Craft Your Passion" - challenge #268 anything goes.  My passion is my scrapping style which is to mat everything and I got to in this card.

And the 3rd challenge is  "Use Your Stuff"  challenge #200 anything goes.   I certainly used my stuff, I got into my accumulating 6x6 pads and used papers that I've had for a long time and then my card stock matting was in my scraps drawer.

You can check out the details for all 3 challenges below.  Still several days to enter as they were all posted just this week.

"TUESDAY MORNING SKETCHES"

"CRAFT YOUR PASSION"

"USE YOUR STUFF"

Fun Together

I'm on a mission to get a few more layouts made of the Greenberg side of grandkids.   We are going to see them this weekend so want to have as many layouts made as I can take all I've made recently to them.     I didn't use a sketch for this one, just put it tougher myself with my Fancy Pants - Down By The Shore collection.   I literally had one full sheet left for background, the anchor piece was the exact size of scrap I had left and the blue wave paper, I had to cut apart to have it long enough to go all the way across the page and just covered the break with he anchor piece.  I know have 2  pieces of
1x12 strips of paper in another print of the collection.   The embellishements are from 3 different manufactures that I had lumped together in my catch all stash.

I'm entering this layout in three challenges.   First is the "Paper Issues" announcing the new issue of October Afternoon - Seas of the Day, with a chance to win that collection .   They gave you some idea of what to do for the challenge.  Anything with summer or vacation, use Oct Afternoon papers,
Use anchors or nautical embellies,  something to do with the water. or download one of their free June printables.      I absolutely have used all of my October Afternoon papers.   I did have one piece of an orangish patterned paper in the drawer by OA and also this one flair button to left of picture, so I "think" it came from OA.    I used Anchor patterned paper,  Pictures of the family at the swimming pool for some summer and water fun while they took a mini weekend vacation to a resort at  the Lake of the Ozarks.

Next I'm going to enter this layout at "Lasting Memories"  for their first themed challenge for July of "Together", Challente # 248,  the challenge was to 'scrap the theme together'  and I believe that is exactly what this layout is about.    Nikki and her 3 kids enjoying some fun times together at the resort swimming pool.    They said the had a great 3 day weekend getting out of the house and the city and just being together.

Then for my 3rd challenge   (Love when I get to link to multiple challenges)   The Friday challenge at
"Frosted Designs" is - Summertime Blues.    I would say this fits just perfectly.   Even though the picture I took of the layout, you really can't tell much of the background paper, but it is a muted blue also.  So I used all blues in my paper and matting and my title.   Then I have the picture of the family in the blue water of the swimming pool at their mini vacation at Four Seasons at the Lake of the Ozarks.

You can check out the challenges below.

"PAPER ISSUES"

"LASTING MEMORIES"

"FROSTED DESIGNS"

Love My Boys

Nothing like waiting till the end of the month to enter a challenge.   I've had the sketch from
"Boy's Rule" on my desk since it was posted on June  1st.   I just hadn't come up with the right pictures yet.    I was looking through Facebook for some pictures of Gibson and Bryce to scrap to
take with me this weekend when we go see them.     Then on the same post were these two
pictures and the caption 'love my boys'  so I had the right pictures to use and even the right title.

I used papers from the Fancy Pants - Swagger collection except for the orange and yellow circle, that was all in my scraps, yes even the pre-cut circle, so glad I had saved that, then some Thickers for the title and a couple of wood veneer pieces.

Just click here on   "BOY'S RULE"  to get all the details and you can see the sketch below.

And a shout out to Laura Whitaker for another great sketch to work with.  I love her work.

Photo Assignment

I'm Design Team A at "Scrap Much?!" but couldn't resist making a layout from the awesome sketch Team B had to work on this last week.

My daughter is taking a photography class online.   She gets all her assignments and then after complete she turns in her picks of photos from that assignment and then gets graded on them.
They went out exploring this last weekend and her husband posted this picture of her and I just loved it so wanted to make a layout of it.  Will see them in about 10 days so will have this ready to take with some others for their ongoing album

So check out all the details here at   "SCRAP MUCH?!"  and you can see the sketch below.

Bear Hugs For You

Another card for today.   I've really been in the card making mood this month.   So much more than any other time for me.   But I keep finding these great sketches and I just have to use them.

This card was inspired by the #268 sketch at  "Just Add Ink"    I thought it was so good and many ways to go with it.    I went with a blue theme for this card and got to use scraps on all of it too.   Always a plus for me.

Next I will enter this card at   "Simon Says".    Their Wednesday challenge is anything goes and that sums it up for this card.   You can have up to 5 entries so this makes my 2nd entry there.

Here are the links for the challenges so you can check them out yourself.  You still have a couple of days to enter each of them.

"JUST ADD INK"

"SIMON SAYS"

Today Makes Me Smile

I made this card this morning.   Looks like I was in a purple mood.    I even did some dry embossing on the background.   Seems I usually get a card all put together and then think, wow, I should have embossed something on it.    I'm going to enter this card in 3 challenges.

First off I used Sketch #52 at  "Sketch-N-Scrap"   I really liked the look of it.  I thought I might be using different patterned papers but as I started laying things out just with with one pattern and two shades of purple card stock.   The embossing just added enough to it to not need more pattern in my humble opinion.   :)  Check out all the June challenges and a chance at a great prize from We R Memory Keepers.

Next I will enter this card in the latest Wednesday challenge at "Simon Says"  this challenge is just for anything goes.    And with this card I actually used a  new sentiment stamp and it wasn't even a birthday sentiment.   Seems most of my cards lately have been birthday cards.    Check it out and have a chance to win a $50 voucher at Simon Says stamps.  Oh how I would love that.

Third in the yahoo scrapping group I belong to, we have a weekly card challenge with a theme/prompt and this week there it was also anything goes.  So I have that covered with this for my weekly card.

Here are the links to the challenges and also  the sketch.

Pool Snacks

I wasn't sure if I was going to scrap these last 3 pictures of the grandkids and their friends at the water park, but the sketch #108 from "My Scraps & More" was perfect for them.
It sure looks like they were having a lot of fun and some huge snow cones that looked yummy too.

Take a look at the challenge here at "MY SCRAPS & MORE"  there are still a few days to enter.

1 Year

I went back and forth on how I wanted to do a layout using the last sketch challenge at "Stuck On U Sketches"  but finally came up with what I was going to do   I didn't want to make my 3 main pictures to small, but wanted to leave room for all the papers around the pics too.   Then wasn't sure if I would just extend some patterned paper out to the left or use more pictures.   I obviously went with the picture way.   I just double the picture of the kayaks ready to go out and one of the two together with the kids legs in them.   These were pictures my daughter Leslie and her husband  Jason took on part of the weekend day trips they took for their first anniversary.   They went on a winery tour in the Lake of the Ozarks area and at one winery found out they could rent kayaks there so they did that too.

I'm going to miss the challenges at "Stuck On U Sketches"  this is the last month of the blog.
Check out the details for this one  HERE.

Mahi Mahi & Red Snapper

I had so much fun putting this layout together.   I used a combination of old collections, some Bo Bunny and some Crate Paper.   And the wooden fishing sign I've had in my stash forever and a day.  It came in handy for this page.

These pictures are what my son posted last weekend from a surprise fishing trip he took his Dad on in Florida for Fathers Day.   They both love to fish and had some really good luck as the pictures show.

For this layout I used the sketch at "Sketch-N-Scrap"  use still have till the end of the month to enter.
Check out all the details  HERE.  for all their June challenges.

I am also going to enter this layout at  "Paper Issues"  for their October Afternoon sponsored 'Seas the Day" challenge.    This layout incorporates the vacation and summer part of the challenge
You can check out the details for this challenge   HERE.

Celebrate

This is the one cake picture I have of our granddaughter Dylan from her first birthday a couple of weeks ago.     I  was inspired by the sketch #107 at My Scraps and More.    I loved the clean look of the sketch and decided to just keep it clean and simple and highlight the picture, so no journaling and no extra embellishments.

I printed my picture of her in 4x4 size and then just double matted it.   I made my title Celebrate with my circuit.    First I just added the intersecting lines with the green washi tape, but decided I needed more color to go with title so added the lines with gold starred washi tape.   Still clean and simple but I think that was perfect for this sketch.

Take me with you Mom

It's been awhile before I've made a layout with a picture of one of our cats.   This is Reggie, probably a good 10 months ago when I took this picture.   I had come home from work and emptied all paperwork from case and put it on the floor and when I looked over later there was Reggie inside.
We had been on the road working for 4 days so I decided this was his way of telling me to take him with me.

I used the Twistback Thursday sketch #6 at "SKETCH-N-SCRAP"    The twist was to also use Washi Tape with the sketch.   I have 4 pieces of the same washi tape on it, its the tan dotted print.   Alone across top right and then on top of the two small stripes at top left on then on top of the long lower matted strip below the picture.

Here is the sketch and just go to  "SKETCH-N-SCRAP"  for all the challenge details, there are still 5 days to enter your layout.

A Man & Smoke

I  seem to take a lot of pictures and scrap a lot of pictures about food.   I talked Arthur into treating himself into buying himself a smoker for a Fathers Day gift.    He loves ribs so I thought it was perfect.    He started looking online for recipes and saw so many options so he said yes to the smoker.

The first thing he made is a brisket,  (the picture of him is putting the brisket in the smoker),
The top 2 pics are the brisket and the rub we used and then a pic of it inside the smoker and then the fresh corn on the cob we smoked too.

Then 2 nights later he smoked our first slab of ribs.  First picture is of one section with the rub after we refrigerated it all night with the rub before smoking and then the ribs all smoked and ready to it.

Tonight we are smoking a pork tenderloin, peppered and wrapped in 3 strips of bacon.   I'm anxious to see how it turns out.

So now back to the challenge.   When I saw that the June 21st challenge at "The Studio Challenges" was  'FOOD'   I knew I would make a layout with a selection of pics from all the smoker use last week.     You can check out all the details here at  "THE STUDIO CHALLENGES"

Mojo Monday Card #403

I honestly didn't think I enjoyed making cards that much.   But still lately I have been making more cards than ever before.   Especially when I'm inspired by great sketches.

For this card I used the sketch #403 at   "Mojo Monday"  It was right up my alley because when I looked at it I knew I could use all my favorite layout things, like matting, layering and inking.

Take a look at the sketch below and go to  "MOJO MONDAY"  to get all the details about their challenges.

FAMILY

I've had this 6x12 piece of paper for awhile now and just didn't know how I was going to use it.
Then I saw the week 4 sketch, made by Shirley,  at "Let's Get Sketchy" and I knew this was it.     Nikki had posted a couple of recent group pictures on Facebook so I knew they would work great with the sketch and the paper.    I'm so glad I got another layout made for them as we are spending July 4th weekend with them in St Louis and I always like to take any new layouts with me for Nikki to add to their album and so far I only had 3 others made so now I can add this one and hopefully get a couple more made in the next 10 days.

So check out the complete details for the challenge here at  "LET'S GET SKETCHY"  and get to work on your layout after seeing all the Design Teams creations.

Pals

This will be my last page in my album for our road trip vacation in October 2014.   Our last stop was in New York to visit my Mother-in-Law and my Sister-in-Law.     We stayed at Nina's house with her two dogs and then Mom came over to visit us there.    The dogs are always excited when she comes to visit.

For this layout I used the great sketch by Laura Whitaker at   "Stuck?! Sketches"     I really enjoyed this sketch and go to do my favorite things with it, matting and layers.
Check out the challenge details    HERE.

Relaxing

One more vacation layout from stop in St. Augustine.    These pictures were taken at the square by old town St. Augustine while we were waiting on Sandi and Dave.   It's a small park, but so pretty and lots to look at.

I'm going to link this layout in two different challenges.   First I used the sketch for week 2 at
"Sketches In Thyme"  Rochelle Spears made this sketch and her sketches always inspire me.
I love it when I find a sketch I like for more than one picture.

Next I'm going to enter it at "Use Your Stuff"  The June 22nd challenge was to use 'Wood'
I used different wood veneer pieces for my embellishments.   Two sets of potty people in different sizes and then the wooden clock.   I had been looking for the right place to use this clock and I thought it would work with this with the statue pic and showing how all the history has stood in time.

So here is where you can check out both challenges and give them your own twist.

Thanksgiving card

This Saturday's #298  Color Week challenge at  "Just Us Girls" is Autumn colors - burgundy, orange, gold or yellow.      For this challenge I just had to use one of my Thanksgiving stamps.   I started with a gold foil sheet of card stock to go on my card base, then added a border of yellow leaf edges on a smaller piece of burgundy card stock.  Added 3 die cut leaves, two pale yellow and one larger orange one that I put pop-dots under it to give it some dimension.

Check out the the details of the sketch  HERE  at "JUST US GIRLS"

red white and blue card

I don't know why but when I saw sketch #C4C291 at "Crazy 4 Challenges"  it shouted out red, white and blue color scheme to me.   I didn't want to add a sentiment.  I just use it as a note card for any occasion and just write a note inside for whomever I decide to send it to.

Check out the challenge here at   "Crazy 4 Challenges"    I have the sketch below too.

Trolley Tour

I used the sketch at "Let's Capture Our Memories" for this layout.    I didn't want to much brightness on the layout because of all the shadow of the trees that overtook the pictures.  (But I did add the tag we wore from the trolley tour and it is bright)      This was from our trip to Savannah, and a trolley tour around all the park squares and homes when you visit there.  I used all Pink Paisley papers on this layout.

Check out the challenge   HERE  and here is the sketch too.

Just Because card

I started with the Sketch Saturday card sketch for June at "Paper Issues" and all my elements kind of overgrew my card base.   But I'm really happy with how it turned out.   I do like the look of cards when parts go 'off' the card base.    Check out the details here at "PAPER ISSUES"  you still have till Friday, July 3rd to enter the card and the layout sketch Saturday.

Tybee Island

I looked and looked at this sketch at "Paper Issues" trying to figure out if I would use it and if I did just how I would go with it .      It was actually this single piece of paper that made me go back to the sketch and then look for pictures to use.     I"m glad I had these pictures at Tybee Island that I had never scrapped.

Check it out  at "Paper Issues" and here is the sketch.

SIGHTS

I'm still catching up on old vacation layouts.  This was when we were in St. Augustine, FL in October 2014.  I realized I had only made a couple of layouts while being there so wanted to add this one.
We had a great time walking around the old town area with Sandi and Dave.   Sandi is an online scrappy friend for several years now and while here we finally got to meet in person.     We had dinner and walked around the area.

For this layout I used the July 15th sketch at "Stuck?! Sketches"   I liked being able to use all the bright colors on this layout, plus my favorite of a flag shape and a border punch.
I hope you check out all the details and enter your layout at "Stuck?! Sketches"

St. Augustine

I'm catching up on old vacations & getting layouts made    Last October we took a long road trip.  First planned stop was 3 days in Orlando to see my step daughter and family,   then last family stop was in New York City to see my mother-in-law and sister-in-law.   But in between we  made a few nights stops for sightseeing in St. Augustine and in Savannah.

I had been to St. Augustine once before and just loved this old city park in Old Town St. Augustine.

I chose the 6-19-15 sketch at "Scrap Much ?!" to make this layout for my Team A design team reveal.
I really think it is a great sketch and hope to see a lot of you join in this challenge, using this great sketch by Laura Whitaker.

I have the sketch below and go here   "SCRAP MUCH?!"   to get all the challenge details

Destination

I wanted to add some more pages to our road trip last fall.     Got lucky and found 2 pics of me to scrap from pictures while walking around in old town Savannah.    So now I have the a 2nd layout to enter at "Challenge Yourself" in their June - anything goes challenge.     Two layouts of me only  in a week is basically unheard of.

For this layout i used the sketch at "The Memory Nest"  I have quite the combination of papers on here from 5 collections and I think 4 manufacturers,   not sure on everything as all but background paper was out of my scrap drawer.  But I think I pulled it all together ok.

Be sure and check out both challenges and get your entries in for the month.   You won't be disappointed.

Just go to  "CHALLENGE YOURSELF"

 and to  "THE MEMORY NEST"

Vacation Food

If you are like me when on vacation anything goes for food, no diets allowed.   That is just what it was like on our road trip with stops in St. Augustine, FL and Savannah, GA where these pictures were taken.    These show an awesome seafood chowder serves in a castiron pot,   shrimp gumbo, stuffed mushrooms, salad with grilled chicken served in a taco shell, the biggest crock of french onion soup I've ever been served.    Then a couple of desserts.   Walking back to our hotel in Savannah, we passed this wine and dessert bar, so we went in and shared this awesome piece of cheesecake.   Plus another day in old town Savannah I had to stop at the candy store and get a carmel apple.   YUM all the way around.

I used the June double page sketch at "Stick It Down"  I just added a few more pictures where it might look like in the sketch they would just be circle embellishments.
I have the sketch below and just go   HERE   to see  all the challenges for June at "Stick It Down"
a single page, a card and this double page.

What's Up?

This was such a fun card to make.   I kept going back and forth with ideas and papers, but I'm happy with how it turned out.   I think it can go either way,  masculine with the background papers or feminine with the doily.       For my sentiment I used a 3x4 PL card that I just trimmed to make smaller and then inked the edges along with inking the edges of the green paper behind it.   Then I thought I was finished and looked closer at the sketch I used form "Let's Capture Our Memories" and added the two wood veneer arrows.   Viola a card made I can use for anyone and any occasion.

Check out the details at  "LET'S CAPTURE OUR MEMORIES"

Adventure

Actually had two pictures of me to use together for a layout.  A rarity to have only me on a layout, but what the heck.    :)   So with that being the case I want to enter this layout at "Challenge Yourself"   The June challenge is 'anything goes' as long as you are in it.   Will here I am.  :)

These were taken when we were walking at Ha Ha Tonka State Park.   A nice look out to the Lake and of course the castle ruins there.

I used the sketch at "Let's Capture Our Memories" to make the layout.   And lucky me, I got to use the left over 6x12 pieces of background paper that I had cut for another Lake trip layout I made yesterday.  Love it when something works out like that.

Scrap yoursle and check out the details at  "Challenge Yourself"

Check out the details for the challenge    "Let's Capture Our Memories"   and I have the sketch below.
