Fall Leaves 1957 style

I've been scanning old family photos from my parents home and these are some I found from when my brother and I were younger I'm guess I was 6 and he was 3.

I'll be entering this at  "LASTING MEMORIES"   Challenge #517

LM #517 - Hello Fall - Turning Leaves

Hello, everyone! Welcome back to Lasting Memories! We are so happy that you are joining us today because today we are starting our October challenges!

Our October challenges are courtesy of DT member Connie and she has some fun challenges planned for this month! Our theme for October is - Hello Fall -  and this is what Connie has to say about it -

This month's challenges will feature a variety of events and things you can find in October during Fall in the USA. So no matter where you are from, grab your favorite fall drink, a warm comfy sweater, and play along!

Here is our first challenge of the month:

It's 2020

I made this layout with three challenges in mind.

First I used the sketch at "THROUGH THE EYES OF ROCHELLE SPEARS"  I love banners so this was a fun sketch to play around with and find the papers and combinations I wanted to work with.   Rochelle always has the best sketches.

Next I went with part two of the scrappy friends challenge and used the Tic-Tac-Toe challenge with  "SCRAP WITH STACY"  these tic-tac-toe challenges are always fun.  I did a diagonal row top left to bottom right.   Cork, Wood Stickers and Wood.

Then last but far from least I'm entering this layout at "SCRAP CHALLENGE YOURSELF"  I don't always have a lot of pictures of myself so this challenge always pushes me to be sure I'm in the pictures sometimes too.   Challenge #81 is "Thankful"  and I'm thankful for my brother.   This was taken in early May and it's my brother and Dad and I together, this was about the time I started spending most of my time at my brothers house, pretty much 24/7 before my Dad passed in August.   I'm so thankful for all that time we had together.   At the beginning of it Dad was feeling good, but the last 3 weeks the cancer got worse and worse but I'm still thankful I was right there with him until the end.

Exploring Niagara Falls

I'm finishing off layouts from my granddaughter trip to upstate NY in August to visit her Dads parents, here Meme' and Pepe'.    Because of Covid they drove this time instead of flying and  on their way there they made a stop on the US side of Niagara Falls.    It was a great break from all the driving plus there was a beautiful rainbow to see.

This is my layout for challenge #515 this month at  "LASTING MEMORIES"

I used the colors blue and white per the challenge and also the element of water representing the Chinese New Year.

LM #515 - Wonders of the World - China

Happy Sunday! Welcome back to Lasting Memories! It is time for our third challenge of the month and we look forward to seeing your take on it!

As a reminder - our theme for September is - Wonders of the World - and we are celebrating different cultures each and every week.

This week we are headed to China. The Chinese are well known for their Feng Shui. So our challenge for this week is:

LM #515 - China - Create a layout that is balanced and using the colours of the Chinese calendar - White and Blue.

*The Chinese year of the White Metal Rat has a main element of Water and is the "yang" and represents the beginning of a new day. The Chinese year colour Blue is for Trust, Honesty, and Loyalty. It increases Immune Protection. It encourages us to open up with enthusiasm towards everything in life and make things wonderful around us, while at the same time helps us live in harmony.*

This is My Life

First off.....sorry for the blurred picture here.    I'm still getting use to the new blogger format.
I promise my layout is nice and clear even with the old pictures.

My brother and I have started sorting through old pictures and scanning them so everyone in the family has copies of everything.  These are all on my mothers side of the family, the descendants of her maternal grandfather and grandmother.   Top picture is of them, bottom left couple and their 10 children and their spouses.   The next picture is of them seated in the middle with all of their grandkids and great grandkids at the time.   I'm guessing all these pictures to have been taken about 1942 just by looking at my Mom and guessing her age in the pictures.   The bottom picture is then everyone all together.   Talk about a big family reunion.   Amazing.

I'm using this layout for the challenge #514 at  "LASTING MEMORIES"

LM #514 - Wonders of the World - England/UK

Hello, hello! We are so happy that you are here today. We are in the middle of a nice long weekend here in the USA and I hope that wherever you are, that you are having a good weekend.

It's time for our second challenge for September. Our theme for this month is - Wonders of the World - and this week we are visiting England/UK.

England and the UK are filled with history and traditions. The love and loyalty to their Royal Family are based on Faith and Culture. So this week's challenge is:

LM #514 - Create a layout with a throwback family theme. Something the symbolizes history to you and your family.

Maybe it's the King / Queen in your life or the Prince / Princess that makes you smile every day. Or maybe there is a special family Matriarch that has passed that you would like to remember and pay tribute to you

Up A Tree

Climbing this tree at her Memma's house while visiting her in NY was always a daily fun thing to do.

They did so many fun things together and kept active the whole week.   Memma always has so many

fun things planned for them to do.   I love getting pictures back from their trip so I can scrap them.

I used the sketch #209 at  "SKETCH N SCRAP"  for this layout.

Fishing

While on vacation in NY my granddaughter got to go fishing out on Lake Champlain.

I don't know if she caught anything but it was still fun and she loved every minute there.

I used the sketch for September at  "SCRAP OUR STASH"  besides using the sketch you had to

use wood grain patterned paper and an animal embellishment, my animal are the three fish I

added on my layout.

Kindergarten has started

Our grandkids in Orlando have started school and its all virtual so far.   I don't know the plans if this will be for a month or entire semester, but they have their rooms set up and ready to go.

I made this layout using the ABC-123 Challenge at  "SCRAP OUR STASH".

I have a one word title "Kindergarten",    two photos,  and three of the same embellishments, I used
three ABC type embellishments.

good sport and will be her patient anytime she wants to practice.

I used the Sept. 1st sketch #208 at  "SKETCH N SCRAP"  for this layout.

Here is the sketch, be sure and check out all the challenges for the month.

Drivers Permit

Our grandson Bryce got his drivers permit last week.   Look out world.   His Mom told him if he passed the test  he could take her for a drive in her convertible, so off they went.

I'm using this for the challenge MBC#30 - Use Triangles at  "SOUL-SCRAPPERS"

What is a Mystery bag challenge?
mystery bag (plural mystery bags)
  1. bag whose contents are unknown. quotations ▼
  2. A surprise package randomly picked, a lucky dip.
  3. A non-specific mixed lot of a product at the supplier's choice.
In other words each month, the challenges will be different. You could get a quote, mixed media, technique, song, lift, color, vision board, product, poem etc....
The theme for AUGUST is...

In Style 2020

My daughter-in-law has been making masks for family members and neighbors every since the need

for them started back in March.  These are the latest designs she made with monograms and/or their names.   I just love them.

I will be using this layout for the Pick 3 September challenge at  "SOUL-SCRAPPERS"

I picked Adaptation Theme,  Clever Title and Journaling.

Here is your list to choose from:

1. adaptation theme (such as covid)

2. clever title (TP in “2020”, pic of virus)

3. picture showing social distancing

4. pictures or die cuts  of signs in community (ie: wash hands, wear mask)

5. journaling (might include data)

6. embelly of your choice (tell what)

7. tag

In the Zone

Our granddaughter loves putting together jigsaw puzzles.  The more pieces the better.

I used the Tic-Tac-Toe challenge TTT63 at  "SOUL-SCRAPPERS" for this layout.   I did the first column

3 Layers, Washi Tape (thin black at top and bottom of layout) and Patterned Paper.

I love mixing patterns and I used 5 different PP on this layout (2nd mat on the picture is the 5th different patterned paper.

Here is the link to "SOUL-SCRAPPERS" & the tic-tac-toe board to work with.

Loving Vacation

I pulled some pictures off my brothers computer this last week from past vacations we have all taken together so I could add more to my pictures I had taken.  I love adding pages to past vacation albums even though I think I finished them at the time.   A lot of pictures were duplicated from the type I had but this is one I didn't have and it is in perfect timing (although last minute)  for the August challenge at

"SCRAP-CHALLENGE-YOURSELF"

Challenge YOUrself #80 . . . I'm On Vacation!

Hi everyone!
It's time for a new challenge :) We are very excited about our 80th challenge!!!
