Getting Dressed

I think this is going to be my last challenge entered and last layout made for the month of June.
I've really gotten my scrap on this month and had a blast creating all my layouts.   I got a lot of wedding layouts completed and of course I loved that.    I had several pictures that I took, bridesmaids took and the photographer took of Leslie getting ready so I knew it would have to be a double spread layout.   I hadn't looked real hard yet but then I saw the last June challenge #197 that was posted yesterday at Lasting Memories and decided the sketch would work great as I could use six of my pictures and also had some I could cut down to fit the sketch.    I've add the sketch here at the end of this post and you can also just click  HERE  and check out the sketch yourself and all the details at "Lasting Memories"   End your sketching month with a double page layout too.

You and Me ---- Honeymoon in Greece

I have had such a great day scrapping and tonight catching up on all my blog posts.   Here is another layout from my daughters Honeymoon.    I also used another of the weekly sketches at "Let's Get Sketchy"  I loved the simplicity and I got to use some scraps I had saved with my travel papers and I think they worked out great and really show up along with the picture.    I believe this was taken their first full day in Athens.   I also really like these cursive title stickers that I bought.   I bought them probably a year ago and put them aside for wedding layouts and I think I've used 3 of them so far and 3 or 4 more left to use with different sayings.    You can see the sketch I used below and then check out the weekly sketches for June at Let's Get Sketchy  HERE   you still have another day to enter.

Nap Pals

As much as we love kittens and cats around here its been awhile since I made a layout with any pet pictures.     This is why my bed doesn't get made everyday.    There is always a bed full of cats in the morning and it seems like a place for naps too.     The black cat is Rose and we adopted her from the shelter at age 8 wks the day after Chrismas and then the orange cat is our newest addition.   This is Reggie who we adopted May 31st at age 7 weeks from the shelter.    It took just over a week for these two to become friends but now they are together, napping, playing and eating together all the time.
I used the week 4 sketch for "Let's Get Sketchy" for this layout.   and all the paper but brown and off white card stock is from the DCWV Serenity stack.      I have put a picture of the sketch below here & you can read all about this challenge and all the June challenges at Let's Get Sketchy  HERE

Travel Log

I'm in desperate need of cleaning my camera lens.    I can't seem to get a clear picture.  But I promise the layout looks ok.     I found this sketch at Stuck?! Sketches and it worked great for these two pictures of Jason and Leslie sitting on the balcony of their apartment in Santorini, Greece on their honeymoon last month.    Check out the challenge   HERE.  and the sketch you can also see below.

Sisters

We were blessed with a new granddaughter on June 10th,   Dylan Macie.    We haven't seen the new baby as they are in Orlando but will be going this fall for a visit.     Mom and Dad always get beautiful newborn pictures taken and these were taken at about 2 wks old.     Dylan is welcomed to the family by her 2 1/2 yr old sister Avery.     These are the only 2 professional pictures I've seen and I just love them.       I really liked the sketch at "Sketch-n-Scrap" but to make it work with horizontal pictures I had to rotate it and make a couple of changes but I'm really pleased with how it came out.
A couple of days left for this challenge so you can check it out    HERE.      Also look below for the sketch before I rotated it.

Mylan

Got this great picture yesterday of Mylan from her parents just showing off her new shorter summer haircut.   She looks so cute and summery in her little sundress and awesome smile.

I had a sketch I had never used and had the layout finished but no title of anything and then I remembered that "Lasting Memories" was running a challenge to use a banner so  I decided that is how I would do my title.  Just put Mylan's name on a banner.    Check out the challenge     HERE.http://kcclayoutchallenges.blogspot.com/2014/06/lasting-memories-196.html

Proud Parents

I've been holding these pictures of the Mothers of the happy couple coming down the aisle as just wasn't sure how I was going to make the layouts, it seems from family I got more picture of me than of Sharon, so didn't want to overdo it with a layout of me.    Then this morning when I got up and checked out my new Tuesday blog posts I saw this double page sketch at  "Stick It Down"  and I knew I could make this work.   I just looked thru my stack of wedding pictures.  I knew I had this great pic of Clarence and Sharon (Jason's parents) sitting at the ceremony so looked to see what I could find of Don and I and decided to just combine them all and have a double spread of the "Proud Parents"     I used such a variety of papers and collections of papers, that was the hardest thing to do.
I have papers from 2 different DCWV collections, paper from a Tim Holtz collection.   Some Martha Steward Border paper, card stock and even a little of scraps from my scrap drawer.
Picture coloring is a bit off, but the hearts are all silver even though they might look a bit gold.

Check out this great challenge   HERE,   it was just announced today so plenty of time to join in.
Plus just take a glance at the sketch below.

Wedding Bouquet

Back at it again with another wedding layout.   This was Leslies wedding bouquet on the bar area in front of the cake and cupcakes at the reception and then the bridesmaids just carried baby breath bouquets so got another pic of her bouquet in the center of them.   I really think the flowers turned out fantastic, especially since Leslie and her bridesmaid made them themselves the morning of the wedding.   I was really proud of how much she did herself for all the wedding decorations and planning.   It was a beautiful wedding.     For this layout I used the sketch at Scrap Much,  you can see it below and check out all the details on the challenge     HERE....     I used a variety of papers.
A card stock strip that I bordered punched that added a splash of color to match the flowers.  The black floral paper came from the DCWV Bella Amour stack, the heart paper at bottom and some behind the pictures was a single sheet I bought yesterday at Michaels and then the other background paper square behind the pictures was from a Mambi My Big Ideas stack.   Then the wedding stamped image for my title I got in a swap and the flower at the bottom I also bought yesterday at Michaels.   Was so glad to find one in the package that matched,  Now I just hope it stays on the layout.

Another July 4th card

I have to get a few more July 4th cards made so I can get them mailed out next weekend to the grandkids and such.   I just love this holiday and the Red, White and Blue colors to scrap with and decorate.    It's rare I used a sketch and enter card challenges but I liked this sketch when I saw it posted yesterday at "The Paper Players"  and thought it would work great with the banners at the top.
Everything I used was scraps.   I had the stamped image in my stash so was an easy card to make.
Just a little inking and viola.      Check out the challenge   HERE  and see the sketch below.

July 4th Card

I am always printing card sketches and challenges and say I'm going to enter but I rarely do it.
But today is the day.    For the 52 week card challenge at the yahoo scrapping group I'm in this weeks prompt was to make a July 4th card and you had to used a flag.    So today I started looking at some sketches from the week and found the one below #224 from Sweet Sunday Sketches and I knew I would use it for my card.   See below for the sketch and then click  HERE to see the full information about the challenge.

Shopping

Susan took Mylan to this ice cream shop that had a lot of retro candy and she snapped this picture.
Just love that smile on Mylan's face with ice cream cup in hand and looking at the candy and little toys.    Total cuteness.     I used a background paper with lots of colors to go with all the colors in the store and then pink and blues to god with the outfit Mylan had on.
I used the great sketch #271 at Creative Scrappers.    The last one to use to be eligible for their June prize.    Check out this challenge   HERE  and then the other June challenges too.    You can see
this sketch that I used #271 below.

School Is Out

Another interesting sketch was posted on Friday at My Scraps and More,  you can see it below.
I finished a page earlier (the previous blog post) with 2 pics of the kids at the Wave Pool on the first day of their summer break and then found this one other picture where I could really see their faces and not just of them playing in the water so wanted to be sure and scrap it too.   I went ahead and basically used the same papers as I had in the previous layout since they will go together in their album.    Plus this way I used up more scraps so that is always fun.   Check out this latest challenge
at My Scraps and More Sketch blog    HERE.    And here is the sketch below.  Sketch #85

FUN

Lasting Memories Challenge #194 - Wishing You Blue Skies, was to use Blue and White on your layout.    So I decided to scrap these pics of Kai and Mylan at their first day at the Wave Pool for the summer.    I liked the looks of blues and whites to go with the water.    Be sure and go check out
the challenge   HERE>

Then my next challenge I'm entering this layout in is at Let's Get Sketchy using the June Week 3 sketch.      I liked being able to layer all my patterns and card stock and just have my pictures stand out but still have some color and pattern in the layout.     Check out this challenge    HERE   and all the other June challenges that are open until July 4.  You can also see the sketch below.

"Honeymoon"

I switched over from my daughters wedding layouts this afternoon to do a Honeymoon layout.
They went to Greece for their Honeymoon and visited 3 places,  Athens, Paros and Santorini.
Santorini was their favorite and these are two pictures from there.  Views from the apartment they rented, down to the sea and then a city view at night.    The Friday 6/20 challenge at Frosted Designs was a Moodboard - Summer is Coming.    Channa is hosting this challenge and she is from Greece and here moldboard had many great pictures from Greece, here moldboard is below and you will see that I really did pull pics for my layout a lot like a couple she had.

Be sure and check out this fun challenge HERE, there are so many ways you can go with this.    Enjoy !!!

I DO

I had to jump right into the newest sketch at Stuck on U Sketches.   Here is the sketch below.
And also just click   HERE  to check out all the info on the challenge.

It just shouted wedding layout and bling to me.   Both of which I have plenty to work with.
I combined a lot of elements,  gold, silver and copper accent papers,   gold and pearl bling swirls and flowers and hearts,   some light inking around the circle to let it stand out a bit from the background paper and then I used a gold pen to do some faux stitching on the inside and outside of the circle edge.   Then all around the edges I used two different kinds of ribbon, some shiny gold threaded ribbon at top and left and right edge of the layout and then I had some speciality wedding ribbon that I hadn't used on anything yet so it is my top and bottom border of the layout.

By using all of the ribbon on my layout I get to also enter this layout at Red Carpet Studio, challenge #72 Hairspray was to use ribbon in some way on your project.   So I have 2 different ribbons here outlining my wedding layout.    Check out this challenge     HERE.

The challenge running now at The Sisterhood of Crafters is anything wedding themed I have lots of layouts I've been doing this month.     You can enter up to 3 entries so I am entering this layout made today for my 2nd entry.    If you have been following my blog, you know I'm all about wedding layouts lately and this one is another one of my favorites.    Check out all the info  HERE.
If you love anything about weddings, cards, projects anything this is the challenge for you.

Mr and Mrs

I'm going to be catching up on sketches and challenges I've printed out while out of town all last week.    I really liked this sketch at Stick it Down and knew it would be great for a wedding layout.
Then I really got stuck on what papers to use but after it all was finished I'm pleased with how it turned out.    First I was going to have the title Kiss, but then I found this PL  Mr. & Mrs. card that I hadn't used yet so since this kiss was after all the formal pics were taken and before the happy couple left for the reception.   I had also just done the one center silver flag under the picture but then after I cut down the PL page I decided to use the extra little piece and add 2 more little flag banners so I'm really glad I did and have that extra little color and pattern.    Check out the sketch and challenge HERE,  I'm sure you will love it just like I did.

I am also going to enter this wedding layout at "The Sisterhood of Crafters"   the challenge they have going on right now, is a wedding theme.  You can do anything you like, a layout, a card, a wedding favor,  wedding place card, you name it, anything wedding.    So since I'm doing lots and lots of wedding layouts now from my daughters wedding on May 4th, I'm entering this layout.
Be sure and check out all the details of the challenge   .HERE

Week #23 PL pages

The challenge going on now at Stuck on U Sketches for their latest PL challenge is to use texture on your pages.    I have embossing on both pages, on 3 different cards each.   Plus my ever present thickers for the week # on my first card on page 1.     I'm going to enter the 2nd page  (bottom page here)  in the challenge.   In the top center card I used my Birthday embossing folder and then added rhinestones in the center of all the little flowers.   I used this embossing folder because on June 10th of this week, my step granddaughter was born and t was also my Dad' 91st birthday.   I also embossed with a swiss dots folder the June calendar page and then the bottom middle card is embossed with a folder that says "Hello Friend" then I added little rhinestones around the 4 corners for more texture.       Check out the challenge     HERE    and be sure and enter this fun challenge.

FISH !!!

Another generation of fishermen.   Just like their Dad out fishing at both of these ages with his Dad at Windbrook Golf Course Lakes here in Kansas City.   Now Jason had his kids fishing  out at the golf course by their home in Trophy Club, TX.    Mylan caught her little fish and is very happy and Kai caught an awesome bass.
I used the great sketch at  Scrap Much?     You can see it below and check out the complete challenge HERE>

Sweet & Crazy

I went to DC a week before Leslie's wedding to get ready for it and while we were there my DIL sent these pictures of the grandkids,  (Leslie's niece and nephews) in the clothes they were going to wear at the wedding.    Mylan was the flower girl, Kai the ring bearer and Koda handed out the programs to the guests.     So we have the perfectly calm and neat children sitting sweetly on the steps in their good clothes and then........ the real kids come out.     We all laughed and laughed over these photos, just so true to form.

So for this layout I used the sketch at "Stuck ?! Sketches"     You can see the sketch below and then check out the challenge  HERE.    Still time to enter and a great prize of a $15 GC at My Scraps and More.

1975

I was going to post this picture on my Facebook page yesterday for Throwback Thursday but my computer was down all day so that didn't happen.    But I'm glad I pulled the picture out and went ahead and made this layout.   It's been awhile since I scrapped an old picture so this was fun.
I used the sketch from last Friday at My Scraps and More.   I have an excess amount of yellow card stock so I decided to start with that and go from there.   Everything else I pulled out of my scrap drawer of patterned paper.    I really like that I matted all the papers in black, I think it makes the papers pop.    Just click  HERE  to see the challenge.

Ceremony Guests

There was one photographer up on the patio above the gardens where Leslie's wedding ceremony took place and I'm so glad she got these pictures of a lot of the guests.   Top picture was taken during the ceremony and bottom picture while Leslie was walking into the gardens for the ceremony.
I am entering this layout in the Junes challenge at the Scrap it Girl blog.   The challenge is
"Things With Wings" and I thought the paper I chose for this layout and the fact that the ceremony was outside in the gardens that adding these 3 beautiful butterflies was perfect.
You can check out the challenge yourself and join in  HERE>

Quiet Time with Jacko

I almost didn't complete the requirements for the challenge at Scrap Our Stash.   I was so concentrating on the monochromatic that I totally forgot that I had to add 5 different store bought stash items.    I already had 2 the flower and the yellow brad button center of it but not 3 more.
So I added yellow bling around the upper left corner,  yellow twine across the layout under the picture.   Then when looking for  something else I saw this baggie of this multi colored foam letter hearts and pulled out all the yellow ones to see if I could come up with a word to use and "cute" it was.   This was a fun layout to make.   My two favorite colors are either yellow or green and I haven't scrapped totally with yellow in ages and ages.    I also got to used up a lot of little scraps.   i just opened my scrap drawer of patterned paper and started pulling out all that was yellow and came up with quite a variety of prints and papers.   I also used Tim Holtz Mustard Seed distress ink to ink all the edges of the papers and made them stand out a bit more.    Check out this fun challenge   HERE
you still have till June 29th to enter.

Quiet Time

Leslie and Jason live in an apartment in DC and they both work so having a pet is rather difficult, with the extra fees and deposits but they were able to get a guinea pig as a pet and I have to say that "Jacko" really is a cutie and a cuddler.     After we had all the pre wedding prep done the kids spent some quiet time with Jacko.     Poor thing was going to have to be boarded for 10 days during their honeymoon.    So I took this picture of them and I thought it was cute so wanted to make a layout of it for their album.     I'm entering it  at Sketch - n - Scrap and used their sketch.   Check out the challenge   HERE   there is still time to enter your layout and join the fun.

Love You

I just love this sweet picture of my daughter-in-law Susan and my beautiful granddaughter Mylan.
This was taken at my daughters wedding reception.   I won't put it in the wedding album but in Mylans album so I changed up the papers to flowery and bright colors.
I made this layout using the June 1st tic-tac-toe challenge at "Scrap & Play"   I did the left hand vertical column of  Fiber, Floral patterned pear and Use a punch.
The fiber is the 2 gold vertical ribbons running down the page on top of the blue card stock strips.
Of course the floral paper is obvious is my overall background paper.
Then I used a border punch down the edge of the two striped paper strips.    Thanks for the challenge.
Tic-tac-toe always gets me thinking.     Join the fun by checking it out   HERE>

Our Vows

I just loved the sketch at "Let's Capture Our Memories"     You can see it below and new it would be perfect for another wedding layout.   I can't believe that with all the wedding layouts I've been making lately that I haven't made one using any pictures during the ceremony.   Still a good 17 hours left in the challenge so be sure and check it out   HERE.

Before I add the sketch below I want to share the June monthly challenge at "Two  Crafty Scrappers"
The challenge there is to use metal on your layouts.    I  had totally forgotten that I had been hoarding these metal words in my wedding stash and when looking for embellishments for the layout I found this package of words and  thought these two  "loving" and "together" would be perfect on this layout.      You can check out this fun challenge    HERE   you have the rest of the month to enter.

The Boys

Its a new month and there is a new sketch at The Boys Rule blog.   Below is the sketch I used for this layout.

I enjoyed making this layout of Bryce and Gibson.   I've been so busy making layouts of my daughters wedding and honeymoon it seems like its been forever since I made any layouts of any of the grandkids.    So this layout was well past due.     Check out the challenge at Boys Rule blog
HERE  and you can be inspirited too.

Here Comes the Bride

I used this sketch from Let's Scrap to make this double page layout.   I had so many pictures of Leslie being walked down the aisle by her Dad, from the photographer and some from guests that I knew I would have to do two pages.    So I really liked this sketch and got to choose 6 pictures.   I tried to do the first page as walking down the walk on the side toward the guests and then the right side as they turned and then up to where the ceremony took place and ending with the kiss.
"Let's Scrap" always has some great 2 page sketches.      Be sure and check it out   HERE.

Santorini

I really love how this layout turned out and to make it even more special I'm going to enter it into three different challenges.     First of all I used sketch #270 at Creative Scrappers.   I really like this sketch and there are so many different ways to use it,  with a panoramic pic like I did, or 8 different square pics or a combo of square and one big at the bottom.    I'll be using this sketch again in a different way.   Check out the challenge HERE and below you can see the sketch.

Now about this layout.    This was a panoramic picture from the Santorini, Greece winery balcony where my daughter and her new husband went on their honeymoon last month.   They had a perfect 10 day honeymoon vacation.
Since this is vacation picture I'm also going to enter my layout at Red Carpet Studio.   RCS#71 National Lampoon's Vacation   (love these movies)  so since my vacation isn't until next month I'll enter my layout about my daughters vacation.     (She went to Greece and I'm only going to Michigan, don't think that is fair.)   LOL     Check out the RCS challenge     HERE>
Also in the yahoo scrapbooking group I'm in I'll enter this as my Anything Goes layout for the month.
