Cut & Color

I DID IT !!!    My Scraps and More forum had a challenge for everyday of September (except Sundays) and I made a layout for everyone.    The final challenge today for Mix it up Monday
was to use 3 or more pictures, 2 shapes, paint or mist and stickers.    I covered it all.
I have a rectangle and numerous circles.  4 pictures, I painted the edge of rectangle and big circle and then I found a sticker of some scissors I added up by my title.
I am also barely making the deadline at Colorful Creations to use buttons on a layout.   I've been wanting to do this challenge all month, but never found just the right layout to use extra buttons on, but this one worked out great because I just added a button to the center of each small circle.
The circles were actually leftovers from the scrap and more challenge from either Friday or Saturday and the colors actually worked out perfectly.

Misc September layouts

Just some more layouts that I've made during the month that I might not have made individual blog posts about.

Tried & True

Another great sketch this Friday at My Scraps and More Sketch blog
Plus for this pictures I used of Mylan I decided the Authentique Genuine collection would be
great to use together.   I just love this collection and I thought the colors went great together with the picture.      Love having all these great pictures of the grandkids to keep me in scrappy heaven.

Pure Love

I've had these pictures for almost two years.   They are from the newborn photo shoot of Avery.   I've made layout from some of the other pictures but not these two.     I loved the sketch for Sketch-y Friday at   ShopScrapMuch blogspot  and it was perfect for these pictures.   Avery will be two the end of December, can't believe how fast time flies by.

Gift of a special tea set

These are two layouts I just made of the pictures of Mylan opening a surprise gift I sent her in the mail.
I used to old sketches from Pamela's World of Scrap    The top one sketch #192 and the bottom one is sketch #192.   I did my own adaptation of them for the picture sizes I wanted to use.
The journaling banner on the bottom one tells about how I got this tea set when I was 7 and when I found out that Mylan liked tea sets I decided to send it to her.    It had always been set up on a shelf at my Mom and Dad's but I decided to pack it up and mail it to Mylan and surprise her.   She had no idea it was coming so I love these pictures Susan took of her unwrapping everything and seeing the set.

TP Play

I've had this last little bit of TP paper left from another layout I did ages ago.   Plus I knew I had these pictures taken at different time, in fact about a year apart, of Gibson and Addisyn getting caught playing with TP.   So  finally I decided the sketch at Stuck?! Sketches would work perfect because I had just enough left to cut a big circle and part of a small one for the corner.

Double Trouble

Kai is looking awfully mean and full of trouble with two machine guns.    But I'm use to seeing him smile so the tough guy look here makes me laugh.      I used the Sept 15th sketch at Boys Rule
Just used one piece of cardstock and the rest was from my scarp drawer, so really not sure what collections they all came from, but I think they were from a big variety.   I love it when I use up scraps.

A new challenge blog starts October 1st. Boy Meets Girl Challenges

This blog is a combination of our About a Boy & About a Girl blogs.        I have always checked out these two blogs monthly,  since I have both a son and a daughter and grandsons and granddaughters, so I always found inspiration there for new layouts.     The new blog is called  Boy Meets Girl Challenges.
There will be 2 challenges posted per month.  The AAB challenges will post on the 1st of each month and will run until the 15th of the month and the AAG challenges will post on the 15th of each month and run until the 30th of the month.  You are more than welcome to play along with both challenges.  Just remember AAB is boys photos only and AAG is girls only.
Click   HERE and read all about this new blog and they even have a giveaway going on to get the info out about their newest endeavor.

Artful Delight is having a Giveaway

Artful Delight    announced today an AWESOME giveaway.      Click on their name to the left here and go to their great blog and see the details on entering.

I"m always entering their challenges, they have the greatest sketches each month, plus I sent in an application for their Design Team.     Wish me luck.

Happy Birthday

I'm always anxious for every Monday to check out the latest Let's Get Sketchy sketch of the week.
This was sketch for today 9/23/13 - Week 4.
Yesterday was my son, Jason's 36th birthday and his wife Susan got this awesome looking cake for him.    He shares his birthday with his good friend David and David came to Texas for the weekend
from Baltimore to celebrate with him and other friends.      So I thought I should make a special layout to showcase his cake.    The 3 balloon buttons I have probably had for years and was so glad I remembered them and added them to this layout.

Off to Vegas

The challenge at Lasting Memories Challenge #158 is Vacation Time.    So I made this layout of the
kids on the plane getting ready to start their vacation in Las Vegas at their Grandparents house.
Looks like they were all set up with activities to entertain them during the plane trip.

Sharing

One more layout for the day and another sketch from ShopScrapMuch   This was the 9-13-13
Sketch-y Friday sketch.     I really like it and already have another picture printed that I'm going to use the same sketch for later tonight.

A Snack

I found this picture of Kai and Mylan just while looking thru old pictures on Susan's FB page,  I must have missed it when she first posted it.   I just love it.    Looks like they must have gotten hungry while they were shopping at the Asian Market here in KC.   I can't tell if they are each eating a sandwich they got there or its bread only.   But I still love it.
I used the Sketch-y Friday sketch at Shop Scrap Much blogspot     Plus over at my yahoo group, Scrappin n Chattin this month on of the challenges is to use chevrons, so this layout will qualify for that too.

Bryce's 7th Birthday

Finally stocked up on some birthday papers and so made this layout of Bryce's 7th birthday (just a bit late as this summer was his 8th birthday)   I used the Sept. 15th sketch at About a Boy.
Such a clean and simple sketch but I still got a lot of colors and patterns into it.

can you say MESSY?

I really had fun making this layout because of using my white gel pen to do the two borders and then the circles.   I'll be doing this agin for sure.     I used the latest Friday sketch at My Scraps and More Sketches blog.  It is sketch #47.     I was laughing out loud when I saw this picture of my grandson Gibson on FB and when I saved it to my computer to print out, I had already titled it "Can You Say Messy"   I knew that it would soon become a layout.

I also will be entering this layout at Frosted Designs    The current challenge there is to use either
Arrows, hearts, stars, or shapes, circles, squares, hexagons, chevrons etc.    So I picked circles and did faux stitching using my white gel pen to do the circles.    I love the look on this dark background.

Family

I love it when I get a picture of all 3 kids together so when I saw one with David, my stepson with all 3 of his kids wanted to make sure I got this picture into a layout.    I thought the Sept 15th sketch at
Stuck Sketches blogspot would be perfect for it.  The sketch showed 2 picture but I just printed this picture at 5x7 and made it work for the sketch.

Fall 2007

Since we could enter more than one layout at the current challenge at Pamela's World of Scrap
And after pulling out my fall papers yesterday to make the first layout I realized I had a lot of great
Fall papers and was just in the mood to keep scrapping fall pictures.     Plus its cool out for a change and the windows are open in my scrap room and its starting to feel like fall.     I went thru my collection of pictures on my computer and found these from our yard in Columbia back in 2007 so decided some of them would be perfect for another of the new sketches.   I used Sketch #241a,   another great sketch that I'll be filing away to use again.    It's not often I can find sketches that I like for 5 pictures.

Fall Card #2

Back again for ABC Challenges you could enter up to 3 cards for this Fall Card Challenge so here is the 2nd one I made.   I just love all the Fall colors, but then the reality comes that after fall is winter and that is a season I could do without.    There is definitely the feeling of fall here now in KC as we opened up the windows yesterday and turned on the attic fan and it was actually almost cold last night but thats the perfect sleeping weather.

Fall Card

We had new tile installed in our laundry room and 2 bathrooms yesterday and it literally took the guy 11 hours.   So we decided to not cook dinner at home and go out when he was finished (which was just minutes before 9:00 pm)  but that gave me time to make some greeting cards.
Over at ABC Challenges (all beautiful cards)  Challenge number 45 was to celebrate the first day of fall tomorrow and make Fall greeting cards.    I had this matted circle of fall patterned paper left from a layout I made in the morning and had set it aside and decided this would be a good time to use it.

Wish You Were Here

I got one more layout made today as a bonus entry at Pamela's World of Scrap for this month.
I used one of the old sketches there,   Sketch #59.    There are so many great sketches there, I'm sure I'll make more, hopefully even this weekend.
This was from our road trip to DC this spring,  I thought this sketch was perfect to just be able to scrap some odd and end pictures from the trip.    Love being able to add one more layout to the vacation album.

Fall

I love it when a design I put together in my head comes together on paper.     As soon as I saw
Sketch 240a at Pamela's World of Scrap I started to think about how I could put the layout together so finally today I sat down and started to work on it.    I'm really pleased with the results, I played around with it a lot on what papers to use for the circles, whether to mat or not and then kept adding more matting to the papers where the picture is.

Sweet Mylan

My sweet Mylan, I just love her to pieces.     The Sept 15th challenge at Use Your Words was to use the wordd SWEET.    Of course my first thought was my granddaughter and this is just the sweetest picture of her cuddling her stuffed monkey,  so easy peasy a layout is born.

Winter Wonderland

I just love this Black and White picture of the lake in our neighborhood.   A neighbor took it and we used in in our winter newsletter in January.    We have a neighborhood FB page so I was able to find the picture there and print it for my layout.    I've had the thought to make a layout with this picture but hadn't done it yet and the found sketch #251 at Creative Scrappers and new it would be great to just go into my winter paper stash and cut the circles from various papers and add a few snowflakes and I had just the right layout for this picture.

The Plaza

If you have ever visited Kansas City you have to have heard about the Country Club Plaza.
KC is known as the City of Fountains and also our sister city is Seville, Spain and the Plaza is modeled after Seville.   There are so many fountains all over KC, North and South, East and West and some of the best known are in the Plaza area.   These are just 2 that I took pictures of a couple of weeks ago when we were there.   The little one on the left is just by the entrance to a parking area and the bigger one is on one of the street corners.    So if you are ever in KC, check out the Plaza and bring your camera.

My Nascar Favorite

I'm a big NASCAR fan and having lived in Columbia, MO for 10 years Carl Edwards is my favorite driver.     I met Carl back before Nascar days.   My brother lives in Columbia and was owner of a race team and had 3 cars that ran the SCCA Trans-Am circuit all over US and Canada.   His lead driver Brian Simo won the Championship one year and was alway up in the top 3 the whole time, he raced for Bruce's team  RaceWerX Motorsports.    But back in the day since the shop was in Columbia,  Carl came over and said he would work in the shop and at some of the races for free just for the experience of working with a raceteam.   I'm going to guess this was probably high school days for Carl.
So when he made it into Nascar he had a loyal fan.

With today being the first race for the chase (which as I am typing is still being Red Flagged for a rain delay)  I thought I would make this layout showcasing pictures of Carl after his win last weekend at Richmond.   I'm sure hoping I get to make a 2nd page layout at the end of the season and see Carl is the  2013 Champion.

SUCH A TOUGH LIFE

I've had this picture since June just waiting to scrap it with the right layout and found it to use on 3 challenges.   YEAH.    First off I will enter it in the Use Your Words Challenge blog, the Sept 1st challenge was to use the word "Tough" and this picture was perfect to use the work in my title "Such a Tough Life".   The I used the Saturday Steal layout at My Scraps and More forum and made my layout stealing the layout they posted for the challenge.   And finally a favorite spot for me to go and do my girl layouts.  It's About the Girls challenge blog, where the challenge just announced for today was to  use lots of flowers and I think I covered that with various flowers, from the big die-cut flower down to even a couple of tiny flowers in the letters for the title.    I think the flowers all over to me, show how Mylan took a nap in a shopping cart despite everything going around here while her parents were pushing her around while shopping at Cabella's, never a fast shopping trip for her Dad.   :)

A New Blog Address for me

I have used my old blog  www.barbbratton.blogspot.com for probably 10 years now and it was set up by my brother so I was never able to add buttons and such to the side bar.   So hopefully doing this now on my own.   I'll get everything set up like I want.     I just hate losing all the creations I had posted on my old blog so I will try and copy some over here.

Hi There !

The challenge at www.itsabouttheboys.blogspot.com  right now is Black and White plus one color.

I love working with Black and White and would usually use more just of the B&W and the plus color as accent, but I wanted to pul the blue out of Gibson's shirt so decided to go with the blue as my background card stock and my plus color.    I had made the black border strip with the white punch for a B&W swap in my yahoo group and this B&W photo mat was something I got in the swap.  I just added some thin blue ribbon to accent the photo mat and the border strip.   Excuse the color here, it really is close to the cardstock color but I guess because of the shine of the ribbon it just looks different here.     Then just added the black and white flower with white brad center for a little more embellie,  white glitter thickers for my title and white gel pen just for a little journaling on the mat.

I'm also going to enter this in my yahoo group scrappin n chattin for our 52 week layout challenge.

This is week 37 and I haven't missed a week yet for making a layout to enter.

Easter 1965

First off I love finding old family photos and these I figured out from the date on the picture  April 1965 and the fact that Bruce and I were dressed up and I had on a corsage plus I recognized that we were out in the street in front of my Grandmothers house that this had to be Easter.   2nd after finding the pictures I love scrapping the old pictures and adding them to my albums.   I can just imagine my grandkids as adults looking back through these and see their Grandmother and Uncle Bruce as teenagers.

I used the newest sketch at www.myscrapsandmore.blogspot.com   Sketch #46

and also this will qualify on the forum challenges there for  the Tuesday Trigger challenge to use a paper with numbers or letters on it.    Love  it when I can combine challenges.

Story Time

It's another week and a new sketch is out at Lets Get Sketch blogspot.   This was fun to work with.

I wasn't sure at first about the circles, but then did something different and cut them out as a scallop

and then used a black marker to color in the lower portion of them.

I think this is just the sweetest picture of Jason and the kids reading a book.

Graduate

I printed this picture ages ago after Kai's graduation but scrapped all but this one so finally a couple of years later getting it scrapped.    It's a mad rush of colors and patterns, but  I like it.    I used the sketch at Lets Capture our Memories bloodspot, sketch #36.    I will be keeping this sketch to use again, I really like it a lot.    It's so much fun to use a sketch over and over and see how I change it some each time.

Then I also followed the challenge on the forum at my scraps and more for this Thursday called Throwback Thursday where I had to use 3 different manufactures of collections at least a year old.   So I pulled the background paper from the Basic Grey collection - Out of Print,   then the paper w/ the pale green/blue polka dots are from Pink Paislee - Prairie Hill collection.   The two chevron papers are from Cosmo Cricket - Clemetine collection, the I used some scrap of cardstocks for the circles and inked everything with Adirondick Espresso ink.

Who Needs A Haircut ?

I found these old pictures of Bruce cutting Leslie's bangs for her.   But the real question as since this was the summer Bruce let his hair grow out is  "Who Needs A Haircut"

Sno-Cones R 4 Summertime

I loved this latest sketch for September at Artful Delight.   I just got out one full piece of patterned paper and then just kept layering and layering with mats from patterned paper and card stock.

I love getting to use up leftovers and I loved the resulting look of this layout.    I also decided to use a 5x7 picture just so it would stand out a bit more.

Your R Cute

I got these latest pictures of Mylan,  I had give her this music book a long time ago but it became her favorite toy lately.  So wanted to scrap these pictures.      I used the awesome new sketch #98 at

www.sketchabilities.blogspot.com     I always love using doilys and scalloped edges so this went together easily for me.     I also entered it at My Scraps and More forum as the challenge today on Word Up Wednesday was to use the word "YOU" in your layout.
