SCARY

I posted the layout yesterday of my granddaughter and her Dad carving their pumpkin and now today
I made a layout of her last night after dark sitting with the pumpkin all lit up on their front porch.

For this layout I used Sketch #394 at  "SKETCHES IN THYME".      Check it out I used 7 different patterned papers on my layout.   I love patterned papers and when I get to mix them I love it more.
What was even more fun is that I used 5 different collections of Halloween paper.   Just give it a try sometime and see how you like to mix and match.

Carve the Pumpkin

My granddaughter and her Dad were busy yesterday afternoon carving a pumpkin.    She was all dressed up in a Halloween outfit for when she went to visit her Great Grandfather earlier in the day.
So I just love these pictures they took of her with the pumpkin and her cute outfit.

I'll be entering this layout at  "BITTEN BY THE BUG 2"   I used my favorite cartridge to cut these
pumpkins....Celebrate With A Flourish.

Are We There Yet?

When we all went to London to visit my daughter that was studying at Oxford, we used all modes of transportation and walked all over.   So in these pictures I have it all covered, in many trains, a bus, a plane to Paris to catch the train to Brussels and then Amsterdam, the boats in Amsterdam and a rental car to go to Stonehenge.   We didn't miss anything but bicycles.

I'm entering this layout in a challenge for travel and a challenge for using Icon patterned paper,  my whole background is camera icon paper

LM #469 - Mixed Bag - Icon Paper

Hello, everyone! Happy Sunday to you! I hope you are having a good weekend!

We are back today with our fourth challenge of the month. Our theme for October is 'Mixed Bag' and that means our challenges will be a little bit of everything. This week's challenge is all about icon paper - those cute little images that may, or may not, be easy for you to use.

LM #469 -Icon Paper - let's pull out some of those icon papers and use them on a layout. Think papers with unicorns, cactus, rainbows, popsicles/ice cream, pineapples, etc.

Fall Family FUN

This is my stepson and family having fun at a Fall Festival last weekend.   They shared lots of pictures with us.   Enough that I actually made 3 layouts.

I chose this one for the  "LASTING MEMORIES"   Challenge #470

LM #470 - Mixed Bag - Anything Goes with a Fall or Halloween Theme

Good Sunday morning! It's the last weekend of October - can you believe it?! This month has gone by pretty fast. Next week we will be bringing you a new theme and a new set of challenges!

Here's the final challenge of October...our theme for this month has been "Mixed Bag" meaning our challenges have been a little bit of everything! Our last challenge of the month is:

LM #470 - Anything Goes with a Fall or Halloween theme.

We know that not everyone celebrates Halloween and our friends in the Southern Hemisphere are more in spring mode than fall, so feel free to create a fall or Halloween themed layout OR use colors associated with fall or Halloween on a layout of anything, so think red, yellow, orange, brown, green for fall, and purple, yellow, orange, lime green, etc.

Fun in Cabo

The last two days I've been scrapping some of the miscellaneous stack of pictures sitting on a back corner of my desk.   One was a Christmas picture from 1992, another a trip in 2007 and now a picture from my sons destination wedding in Cabo in 2005.

I used the Word Challenge at  "LASTING MEMORIES" for this.   The word is CRISP

C = Carta Bella (background paper)
R = Ribbon
I = Ink (Blue all around outside of layout)
S = Sticker
P = Punch

Here is the link to the challenge at "LASTING MEMORIES"

LM #468 - Mixed Bag - Word Challenge 'CRISP'

Crazy Kids

I decided to scrap these snapchat pictures of my two grandkids.   I thought it would be fun for them
to have in their album to see in the years ahead.

I used the tic-tac-toe board at  "USE YOUR STUFF"  for this layout.    I did the center vertical
row,   Arrow,  The Color Red and Bling or Rhinestones.

Here is the link to the challenge, still a few days to join in the fun at "USE YOUR STUFF"

Fall Card

Now the Fall is here its time to be creating some fall like cards.     I saved this burlap ribbon from a raffle prize I won at a Realtors party this summer and I thought it would work great for the fall look of my card and with the sketch at  "SKETCH N SCRAP"   This is the last World Card Making Day/Month sketch here at  "SKETCH N SCRAP".  Thanks for asking me to be a Guest Designer this month and has really gotten me back into card making.   I hope you have had as much fun as I have working with all these great sketches.

Caldwell Zoo Bird Sanctuary

I'm making a album for my daughter for Christmas with layouts from all the various road trips we took as adults, which usually were the two of us, her Uncle(my brother) and my Dad.   This is a road trip the 3 of us took to visit here in Tyler, TX when she did an internship there the summer of 2007 at Caldwell Zoo.     I included this trip because it was a family road trip brought on by her.
This was the bird sanctuary at the zoo that you got to hold sticks of honey and bird seed to feed the birds, we had so much fun,  it was hard to just pick 3 pictures to use with the sketch #393 at
"SKETCHES IN THYME"    Plus since it is a travel theme layout I'm using it for Challenge #186 - Travel at  "THE PAPER GIRLS".   And also since I used several different patterned papers the

Carved Pumpkins

There were so many beautifully carved pumpkins at the Fall Festival at Silver Dollar City so I decided to make one layout with just the pumpkins in it.      I went to  "SCRAP OUR STASH"
for inspiration with with their 'Pick Your Side Challenge'.     I went with the right side.
it was perfect to include 6 pictures of some of the pumpkins.     The twist was to use Twine,
a Tag and a Tab.   I have all three.

Here is the link to  "SCRAP OUR STASH"   and the two sides sketches to choose from:

I will also enter this layout at  "CRAZY HAZELNUT'S PATTERNED PAPER CHALLENGE"

Halloween Card

It's time to start making those Halloween cards.   WCMD Sketch #3 at  "SKETCH N SCRAP"  is
perfect for this.
I pulled out my Iris case of Halloween goodness and made this card with all scraps from there and card stock matting was from scraps also.     My  sentiment square is from patterned paper piece I
had and just cut out a square of it that had all these cool words on it.    Added a couple of
embellishments and my card was made.

Here is the sketch and link to  "SKETCH N SCRAP"

Also check out the October Challenge at  "CRAZY HAZELNUT'S PATTERNED PAPER CHALLENGE"   I have 6 patterned papers on this one card.

Sympathy Card

I hate when I have to make a Sympathy card.   But a childhood friend just lost her husband.
She is also a neighbor of my Dads and is good enough to always check in on him.
I'll be going to the visitation tomorrow but I always wanted to get a card out in the mail to her.

Since I use only patterned paper on my card I'm entering it at........

My Helpers (Not)

Almost 50% of my scrapping time I'm working around or moving one or two cats off my desk.
Especially helpful when something I'm looking for to add to my layout is hidden under a sleeping cat.
LOL    They also like to lay on my keyboard which makes for some odd looking typing if I'm in the middle of a blog post.

I used Sketch #187  at  "SKETCH N SCRAP"  for this layout.   I loved that I got to add a third
small photo to a regular two photo sketch.

Here is the link to  "SKETCH N SCRAP"   Check out the two layout and  two card sketch challenges they have each month.   They are always great.   This month there are 4 card sketches as they are celebrating World Card Making Day all month long.  And here is this latest sketch.

Creating with Memme'

I love these pictures of my granddaughter and her other Grandmother (Memme').   They had a week long visit to upstate NY over Labor Day week and had so much fun and did many different things.
Including painting on these huge leaves.   I can't remember what they told me, it might have been zucchini leaves from her garden.

I'm entering this at    "CRAZY HAZELNUT'S PATTERNED PAPER CHALLENGE"
I have six different patterned papers in these two pages.

Elle is not 3 yet but she is ready to start biking with the team already.   This was her 2nd time taking on the course of the Columbia CycleCross.       She is starting her biking career on a balance bike and doing fantastic.   I've been lucky enough to be in town for both events she was in this month.

I'm entering my layout at  "LASTING MEMORIES"  for challenge #468.   It's a word challenge.
The word is CRISP   This is what I used --  C=Carta Bella paper,  R=Red Bike embellishment,

Cardinals Baseball

I just started as a Design Team Member this month at  "SKETCHES IN THYME".      I got to work with this great sketch this week by Elizabeth Frantz.     I had a lot of fun making this layout.    I picked out these 3 pictures of my stepson and family when they went to the St. Louis Cardinal baseball game and got to walk around the field before the game started.     After I picked my pictures I picked out red polka dot card stock for my background and then pulled out a white doily.
Then I just lifted out a handful of patterned paper scraps I keep in a magazine box on my desk and started going through them and laying them out together in different ways and before long at all I had my layout put together.     I added  a few baseball embellishments and the word baseball on a sticker and added those.   I got some red sticker alphas and added Cards, journaled the date of the game in red ink on the doily and I had a completed layout.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what everyone does with this layout.   Here is the link to
"SKETCHES IN THYME" and be sure and check out all the weekly sketches for October.
Below is this weeks sketch.

Oct 31

What a fun sketch this was to work with this week #585 at  "SKETCH SATURDAY".
I know I'll save it and be using this one again.

Bonus for me is that I get to use this also for the challenge #378 announced today at
"USE YOUR STUFF"   perfect for my Halloween cards I'm making.

Challenge # 378 Pumpkins ( Majo)

Hi Guys,

Majo here today!

I'm so glad you made it here for yet another fun challenge. This time of the year I'd love to see your Halloween Creations. There is one twist:

*You will have to use a pumpkin on your project*

Either on a photo, if you make layouts, a die cut, a stamp, whatever, as long as it's a pumpkin.

Scrappy Friends Challenge

I'm playing along this month with the SCRAPPY FRIENDS CHALLENGE.   I always love doing this combined challenge each month that I can.

First we have the sketch from  "ROCHELLE SPEARS BLOG"   I loved the sketch and I loved even more that I found this pumpkin on one piece of patterned paper that I got to fussy cut and use as the faller circle in the sketch, made it more themed for me with all the pumpkins in my picture of us
taken last week at Silver Dollar City.

Then for  "SCRAP WITH STACY"    for her Photo Inspiration challenge I was inspired by the orange colors and the pumpkins and leaves in the photo squares and the over all Autumn theme especially the Hi October Square, because we made this day trip October 5th, our first planned Fall activity.

Here are the links.   "ROCHELLE SPEARS BLOG"

"SCRAP WITH STACY"

Pumpkin Nights Party Area

This was an area of Silver Dollar City that we had never been to before, its at the back of the park and mostly rides and games for kids, but this was where they were having the Pumpkin Nights party every night with dancing and games and magicians, all kid inspired.   But also awesome to see all the displays for the adults there without kids in tow.

I used the October Saturday Cartoon Inspired Sketch Challenge at
"SCRAP OUR STASH CHALLENGE BLOG".

I followed the sketch and you also had to use the color orange (my background paper) and then use a
scrapbook supply item for each of the letters in Casper.   For me it was ............
C = Cardstock (the matting on my pictures and the orange part  of my embellishment)
A = Arrows I used 3 small wood veneer arrows pointing at each of the 3 pictures.
S =   Spider Webs,  I used a border punch to make these
P = Pattenered Paper, I used two different ones.
E = Embellishment, my little white puffy sticker Ghost
R = Ribbon, done the left side vertically and under title horizontal.

Fall Displays

Still making layouts from our day at Silver Dollar City for the Pumpkin Nights Fall Festival this year.

This was a great sketch from the past that was great to use for this pictures.

I'll be entering this layout in two challenges.

"LASTING MEMORIES"  -  For their Pick 3 challenge, from the list I picked  3 Photos, Polka Dots, Tag and I used a 4th CardStock.

Our first challenge for October is:

Pumpkin Nights Festival

Whenever  we go to Silver Dollar City I know there are going to be plenty of photo ops all over the park and this trip last week was no difference.    I'm taking pictures of my hubby and then passing the phone off to him to take pictures of me.   I have him use my phone because its easier then to download everything at once to my phone.   So there is a system to my madness.   LOL

I'm glad I had him get these pictures because they worked perfect for this months Sketch Challenge at
"SCRAP-CHALLENGE-YOURSELF" Blog.    Plus bonus for me I decided to print another picture from the trip and cut it in a circle to use as my title Pumpkin Nights

I combined a lot of papers with this, the background from a very old stack of papers I had bought many years ago.   Then the background paper the pictures are one was from a Halloween 6x8" stack of papers,  the green dotted that I journaled on and the white paper that has words on it came from a 6x6 stack of Halloween papers and then the other square of jack-o-lanterns was a scrap from a piece of old 12x12 Halloween paper.  I think it all worked out well together.

By using all these patterned papers I'll also enter my layout at "CRAZY HAZELNUT'S PATTERNED PAPER CHALLENGE"

Days are getting cooler and then end of the month is fast approaching so Halloween is in the air and time to get all your cards made and decorations out.

It's also World Card Making Month at   "SKETCH N SCRAP"  and I was asked to be a  Guest
Designer this month and I used their sketch #2 for this card.      Check it out.    So many ways you could use this sketch,  any holiday, any occasion, even a great Hello card.    I hope you give the challenge a try and check back each week for more sketches and inspiration.

Ghost Card

I'm using all the Halloween colors on this card,  Purple, Green, Orange and Black.
I used the sketch at   "FRESHLY MADE SKETCHES"  as inspiration for making my card.
It's their sketch challenge #406

A Halloween Card

I started with a white card base and then inked the edges with purple.   I fussy cut a stamped skeleton and then inked those edges with black.   Put it on a scrap piece of purple yardstick and inked those edges with black again.   I also used my stapler in a few places to give it a little different look and added a bat brad.    Then I cut a piece of orange card stock slightly smaller than my card base and inked it in black.  I put the purple back skeleton on the left edge of the orange paper.   Glued it all down to the card back and then added this black and orange Halloween banner on the card to finish
it off with the sentiment.

With my Halloween theme and Halloween sentiment, all the letter "H"  I'll be using this card at  "JUST ADD INK" for challenge #478 to Add "H"

Just Add Ink #478...Just Add "H"

Good Morning JAI friends!

We have a fun new challenge happening today, for this week Tina has challenged us to add a "H" element to our projects.

Lots of simple and creative options for this one, you can use anything beginning with the letter "H", a technique, theme or object...the possibilities are endless! But please let us know in your blog post exactly what your "H" eleme

Our Home

I was asked to be a Guest Designer for the double page sketch in October at
"STICK IT DOWN"    As soon as I saw the sketch I started thinking about what I could scrap that
I have a lot of pictures of and haven't done yet.     Then it came to me...Our Home.
I added one more picture than was in the sketch and I didn't want to fill all the space with pictures because I really loved the look of the tags too.    So I have pictures of my favorite rooms, our
Master Bedroom, Master Bath, Kitchen,  Dining Room and my Craft Room.    Then the larger
picture is our living room, looking down from the upstairs loft where my husbands office is.
It was the best way to get a complete picture.   I just left out the other bedrooms and baths.
I'm not sure what happened with the color on dining room wall looking into the kitchen, it is not
bright blue, you can see pretty close what the color is by the picture of the dining room, a shade
of green, certainly not that blue that shows in the picture.     I took different pictures but all came out this color.   Oh well.
I decided to do a very thin border around the pictures and all the tags.   For the tags I had three different designs of patterned papers of houses so that is what I used for the tags and then one of the
patterns across the top and bottom and then a black card using a border punch I like.
After that I just added my title and did different embellishments I found on the tags.  Some
black bling on the ends of the tags and that was it.
I hope you will play along with the double page sketch this month and have as much fun with
it that I did.    Here is the link to "STICK IT DOWN"  and you can also check out the single page
sketch and the card sketch for the month.

Silver Dollar City

We always have so much fun when we go to Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO and this new part,
Pumpkin Nights for the Fall Festival was fantastic.   I got so many great fall pictures to make scrapbook pages of.   Good times for sure.

Everything with the exception of my double matting on the photos is using patterned paper, the background paper is a textured polka dot paper that I've been hoarding, now I need to go out and get more.

All this patterned paper I used made it perfect to use this layout for the monthly challenge at
"CRAFTY HAZELNUT'S PATTERNED PAPER CHALLENGE"   This is the perfect challenge for me I love mixing patterned papers.

BBQ

Sometimes I make layouts about my favorite meals or restaurants and lots and lots of times I make layouts about my granddaughter Elle.   With this layout I combined the two together.
This week while I spent one night with family we went out to eat at my favorite BBQ place in Columbia, MO  "Como Smoke & Fire"  and had my favorite meal there, a BBQ pork steak.  I just love them, my hubby doesn't at all so it is a very rare time we make them at home, but this is my go to dinner at this place.   But the topper for the evening is that my granddaughter was there too.
I think this is the first time she has been there, but we had fun together and she loved her mac & cheese and smoked turkey sandwich.   She ate all the mac & cheese first, of course what kid wouldn't do the same, and then have of her sandwich.   She turned to me and said "Gigi, my belly is full now"

I used the sketch for this week at  "SKETCHES IN THYME".   I pulled out a couple of my food/recipe themed papers and tore a piece for the top  part of my layout and added my pictures and title.   Then I just pulled out a lot of food embelies and stickers and did a cluster of embellishments.
Added my journaling and I have a completed layout.

Check out this sketch at  "SKETCHES IN THYME"  and be sure to check all the sketches for the month too.

Next I'll enter my layout at  "LASTING MEMORIES"   Challenge #467 is Torn Edges.
