Family

I've been having fun this last week going through some old pictures and I found several from different Christmases that I hadn't scrapped.    So this has been great to fill in my chronological Christmas albums with new pages.

I especially love all of these as we took generation pictures this year when everyone was together, both of my grandmothers were there and my brother and wife and their son.   So we had a chance to do a picture of each generations together.

I didn't have a sketch to use so just put it together tonight by using the tic-tac-toe challenge at
"LASTING MEMORIES"     I used the diagonal,  punches, polka dot paper, doily

Here is the link and the tic-tac-toe board to work with.    "LASTING MEMORIES"

Memories

Taking a group picture of these Greenberg cousins is far from easy.   They were so silly and if three was smiling the other the other two weren't, if one sitting still 3 weren't.  I think Bryce, the oldest, was the only one smiling and always ready for a picture.

I'm entering this layout in two challenges.      I started off by using the newest sketch, the January, week 4 sketch at  "LET'S GET SKETCHY"     I just love sketches with these long flag/banner
part.    This sketch was no exception on being fun to use.

The 2nd challenge is the Patterned Paper challenge at  "THE PAPER GIRLS CHALLENGE"
I love mixing patterned papers and with this sketch I got to mix 5 different papers and I used two
different manufactures.

Here is the sketch and then the links are above on each challenge name ready to click on.

Dear Santa

I love it that Kai and Mylan are still write a letter to Santa each year to leave out with his milk and cookies.      I got to be the one to write back as Santa this year.

For this layout I used the sketch at   "STICK IT DOWN"   for this months single page layout.

Here is the sketch and click above to get all the details.

There is nothing like sharing.

I took a bunch of pictures of my Dad sharing his milkshake with his great grandson Silas but none turned out nearly as good as Silas' mom's pictures she took.   I love that she did one in Black & White and then really zoomed in on Silas face in the other.   So these are the two I decided to scrap.

I used the great sketch from Jan. 15th at  "STUCK SKETCHES?!"     I know I can come here each month to find sketches I want to use.    You still have 9 days to enter with a chance to win one of two great prizes or to become a guest designer in March.

Here is the sketch and link   "STUCK SKETCHES?!"

Cute

Two of my favorite people, my grand-daughter Mylan and my Dad.   She was ready to ham it up for the camera.   This was taken a couple of days before Christmas while we were all together.

I'm entering this in three different challenges.

First the sketch challenge at  "SKETCH N SCRAP"  Sketch #121 was just what I needed for two pictures.     I decided to go with a mixture of patterns and colors for my paper to go with Mylan's leggings and the hat she was wearing, then added ribbon with purple and matted two of the papers with purple card stock to go with the background color of her leggings.

The 2nd challenge is   "LASTING MEMORIES"   The challenge prompt #327 is to use
Ribbon, Washi Tape or Paper Strips.    I chose to use two different pieces of ribbon,  the lacy ribbon with purple through the center down the left side of my layout and solid purple ribbon on my tag.

My 3rd challenge is at "THE PAPER GIRLS CHALLENGE"  this is an easy challenge for me.
Challenge #120 is - Patterned Papers.   I rarely use a solid card stock as a background and I most always have a variety of patterned papers on my layout.   This layout includes 4 different patterns.
I love mixing patterns, colors and even manufactures and that is what I did here.

Here are the links and the sketch.

ho ho ho 1994

I've decided to go back through some old pictures and catch up making some layouts from Christmas during the 90's.    I have all my Christmas layouts in chronological albums starting back in 1951, the year I was born.   So this is always fun for me when I find pictures I haven't scrapped yet.

My journaling tells the story behind this picture of my husband dressed up as Santa.   We planned it all out to try and surprise my niece and nephew who were  6 and 4 at the time.   It worked out great and I'm so glad I found this picture.   It's a fun memory.

I put this layout together with the  "USE YOUR STUFF"  challenge in mind.     Challenge #247 is
to use at least 3 6x6 papers.   I made my own background paper using 4 6x6 papers from the
Love Nicole - Seasons Greetings pad.   It has so many great papers.  Now that I pulled it out I need to use more of it.     I also used more of my "stuff"  the 3D Santa I've had a few years now, the journal box and the title are both from a swaps many years ago and the  two present buttons are at least 7 years old.     I love using up things I've saved.

Here is the link to the challenge.     Have fun with it, I know i did and the DT gives you lots of inspiration.    I'll be doing more challenges with this prompt in the future, its a great one.

Disney - Let's Sail

When I saw the new prompt today at "LET'S GET SKETCHY"   I  just love the use of the banners and decided it would work great with these Disney pictures I had of my family in Orlando.   They went on a Disney Cruise last month.         So I used the sketch for the pictures of the girls in their cabin and of Addisyn with one of her many ice cream cones during the cruise.

Then I printed a 5x7 family picture and and made a separate layout for that.      I've had all these Mickey die-cuts forever in my stash from past swaps.   So glad to get to use them.

Here is the sketch and the link to the challenge at  "LET'S GET SKETCHY"

Give Thanks at Thanksgiving

Now that a busy December is over I'm catching up on scrapping a lot of old pictures.
Including these from Thanksgiving 2016.    Believe it or not these are all the pictures I took, and two of them were taken by my brother.   Bad scrapbooker for me this holiday.    I do have one more of my son-in-law carving the turkey so that was my only other Thanksgiving layout.

But this layout at "THE MEMORY NEST" was perfect to combine these Thanksgiving pictures of all of us at the table.    This was so much fun putting together and using a lot of PL type cards.   I have cards and embellishments here from two Simple Stories collections,  Pumpkin Spice and Hello Fall.
Then I also used small cards from Pebbles - Harvest Collection.     I loved putting everything together

I hope you will join me and the other Design Team members and share what you make with this great sketch at   "THE MEMORY NEST"

Photo Op

I'm trying to catch up on some things I wanted to scrap that I was doing with my Dad and my brother.
This is my 3rd layout of some things we did while sight-seeing with Dad on places he had never been.    I took a lot of pictures at the Pompeii exhibit, but decided to just scrap the ones of the 3 of us while there and then include some memorabilia from the exhibit.

I'm going to enter this in two challenges.     I picked my papers with the challenge at  "ANOTHER FREAKING SCRAPPY CHALLENGE".

The challenge is..To use the colour grey in your layout! January can be a very dull and grey month for many after the festivities, and those facing the harshest part of winter. Let's celebrate grey and make it beautiful!

.I thought the color  gray kind of went with the color of the ashes of Pompeii after the volcano.

Next I wanted to incorporate the challenge #325 at  "LASTING MEMORIES"    This January stash buster challenge was to "Use those Punches"
So I got out one of my favorite punches got some more grey paper and punched a border for each page of my double layout.

I added my thickers for the title, a little journaling and then I fussy cut a couple of cameras to use as my embellishments.

Here are the links to both challenges.

Thank You

I needed one more thank you card for my Christmas thank yous.    I had seen this butterfly paper the other day when I was de-stashing and moving things around in my room.   So when I saw the challenge this morning at   "ALL SORTS CHALLENGES"   I remembered the paper and went right to work on my card.

The challenge is     ***** Wings On Things ******    so viola here are all my butterflys complete with their wings.

Check out the details here at   "ALL SORTS CHALLENGES"

Next I am going to enter this card at  "JO'S SCRAP SHACK".   This is for challenge #171 and as every week the challenge is  Anything Goes, so my card fits that for sure.

Day Trip KC

I'm so glad I decided to give the Jan. sketch E 302 at  "CREATIVE SCRAPPERS"  a try.   Once I picked out my papers and got started i really liked the layout of the papers with the sketch.   It was really fun to work with and move my patterns around on how I wanted them to be.   I decided for one triangle to just leave the background card stock showing.    That is one of the reason I decided to do the faux stitching around everything.    It doesn't really show true colors in my picture but other than the blue faux stitching around the pictures the other stitching I did with a gold gel pen.
Plus I was also glad I got to add my ticket stub with my layout, I love when I can include memorabilia from a trip.

Here is the link to the details of the challenge at  "CREATIVE SCRAPPERS"   and the sketch below.

Love You card

I have been thinking about making a card to have ready for my daughter in a couple of weeks when she has her baby.    We will all be there and gushing over the baby but I wanted to have something special for her too.   I'm going to look for a little gift but I wanted to have a card ready too.

When I saw the challenge today at  "CAS-UAL FRIDAYS"  I knew that would work for my card.
The prompt is.

CFC165 - Everything Turns to Gold   Click on this link to get the details.

I got out my  DCWV - The Linen Closet stack because  I knew it had some awesome gold papers in it.    I found this one for the background.   The stack also includes some pages of quotes and such and I found this 'love you' one and I thought that was perfect.    Then I just added some gold and clear bling to the card and easy peasy it was finished.

Bon Apetit'

My husband had an unexpected trip out of town for work last night so I came back to my scrap room after dinner to make this layout.    I use to spend a lot more time in here at night but its been ages since I made a nighttime layout.

I pulled these pictures of my grandson off of Facebook to make this layout.    This month they started trying out Hello Fresh for some of their meals.    I knew Kai loved to cook because he was helping on everything at Christmas time so the Facebook post said he made this whole meal.   Wish I was there it looks great.

For this layout I used the January 1st sketch at  "STUCK ?! SKETCHES"    Just click on the link for more info, there are a couple of awesome prizes and then another sketch will be revealed on the 15th.
I always look forward to these sketches.

Deck the Halls

I wanted to scrap about the decorations in my craft room this year.    I always have a tree in here but this year added the garland with lights and I was really pleased with how it looked.   Everything was on a timer, so I had it set to come on about 2:00 pm and got to enjoy the lights while I was still in here scrapping or on the computer of just shuffling papers on my desk.

I used the prompt #326 at   "LASTING MEMORIES"  for this layout.    The monthly theme is stash busters and here is this weeks prompt.

LM 326 - Buttons, Bling, and Brads - use a little, or a lot, use just one of the choices, or use all three!

I used all 3,  I have two rows of bling, the silver star is a brad and the lights above the picture are
decorative Christmas buttons.   I think I bought a package of these when I first started scrapping and finally using one of them.  Glad I kept them  all these years because they go perfectly with my picture.

Check out all the details for the challenge here at  "LASTING MEMORIES"

Christmas Dinner 2016

It's been awhile since a made a double page late, but when I saw the first sketch of January at
"LET'S SCRAP"  I felt it would be perfect for the pictures taken of the food we had for Christmas dinner.  I got pictures of everything but the oyster dressing, the bread stuffing and the cranberries.

My son was in charge of the turkey, from seasoning to cooking to slicing and my granddaughter was big help with making the fruit pies.

Here is the sketch and click here at "LET'S SCRAP" for all the details.    You can enter your layout for a chance to win a $10 Gift Certificate at any online scrappy store you like.

Sweater Day

This is my second  layout today and the 2nd weeks sketch from  "LET'S GET SKETCHY"

It was Ugly Sweater Day at Gibson's school.    Well when most of us think of ugly sweaters we see in our minds all those Christmas sweaters,  the lights on it might light up, of huge ugly ornaments knit into the sweater.     With Gibson's family being Jewish his Mom found this ugly sweater for the Hanukkah.    Gibson even added to it and made a handmade dreidel necklace to wear too.
He is such a hoot and so much fun.

Here is the sketch and link to  "LET'S GET SKETCHY"

MOVIE DAY

We had tried 3 different time to see this movie.   Finally got there with only a week left in the run of it at the theater at Union Station.    It was a great movie and the photography was beyond fantastic.

I'm entering this layout in two challenges.

First I used January Week 1 sketch at  "LET'S GET SKETCHY"  then I'm entering it at
"THE PAPER PLAYERS" challenge of Going Green and use a recycled item on the project.
So the sketch worked out great to include my ticket stub with the layout.

Greats and Grands

I am entering this layout in two challenges.    First I started off using the January Sketch #257 by Brenshevia Baker at  "SKETCHES IN THYME"   It was perfect for a larger picture.   I printed this picture at 5x7 and then triple matted it.    My banner is from round inches I had saved from a Christmas swap years ago, but I think it works great.   My journal card is also from an old swap.   Sometimes it pays to hoard things.       Here is the sketch I used.

Next i am entering it at "THE STUDIO CHALLENGES"  Their first challenge for 2017 is....

Review the Year - instead of looking forward to the new year ahead, I want you to look back at the year you have just had! It could be a review of the whole year, something special that happened or your favourite thing about the year, or maybe it's one you would rather forget! it's up to you!

This challenge is perfect for my picture because it features my Dad and his 4 grandkids and his 3 and 8/9 great grandkids  (my daughter on the left is 8 months pregnant).   This summer we found out my 93 year old father,  had colon cancer and was also in his lungs.   He did 4 chemo treatments but got very very sick from them.   We together decided to stop the treatment.    His goal was to be here Christmas because this was the first time in a few years that the entire family would be together, his one granddaughter and her new baby live in Australia.   Dad had never seen this baby in person and he wants to be her the end of this month for his 4th great grandchild.    Well I have to say we are blessed because once he got the chemo out of his system he has been in awesome health and not slowing down at all.   So this was our best moment of 2016 was to have Dad with us and all the family together.

Here are the links to both challenges.

BRRRRR

We have had our first snow across the state for 2017.    It was only a couple of inches but because the snow didn't start late in the night and ended late morning, the schools were closed.   My grandkids in St. Louis took advantage of it.    They dressed for the weather, which was in the single digits and got outside and played in the snow along with the neighbor kids too.

I'm entering this layout in the  "SCRAP OUR STASH"  Challenge.    The first challenge for January is a Tic-Tac-Toe board.   I went straight down the middle row with  diecut, winter theme and paper clip.   I had the die-cut challenge saved in my stash so was glad to use it.  Since it was layered with a pink background I went ahead and matted my pictures with pink card stock and then used a pink paper clip for my let it snow tag.   They worked well with the papers I used from Crate Paper -
Snow & Cocoa collection.

Here is the tic-tac-toe board and check out all the details at  "SCRAP OUR STASH"

Thank you card

I need a couple more Thank You cards for my Christmas thank yous.    This sketch at
"FRESHLY MADE SKETCHES"    looked like a perfect one to use to make a card.

Here is the sketch, check out the details   HERE.   You have until Monday 1-9-17 to enter your card.

Merry Christmas ---- Ho Ho Ho

I'm so glad I got these pictures.  This is my niece (standing) and her wife (sitting) and their son, they live in Sydney, Australia and came to her Dads home for 3 weeks over the holidays, where we all were for Christmas.   Anyway,   I had been working on a scrapbook of pictures of my great nephew, Silas from birth right up to a picture of him with Santa this year and out playing in the little snow we had, his first time seeing snow.      They LOVED the album.   It was so nice to sit and look through it again with them after they opened it.

For this layout I used sketch #120 at  "SKETCH N SCRAP"   I really enjoyed putting together 4 different Christmas paper patterns together, not counting the background paper.    The titles were two
I had saved in my stash from swaps over the years.   They worked out great to combine with this
sketch also.    Love getting to use things I have saved for a special page.

Here is the sketch and click on  "SKETCH N SCRAP"   here to see all the details.

A Saturday Picnic

With all the cold and snow here in Missouri this first week of January, I I decided to go warm.
I've been rearranging all my craft stuff in my room and found a folder of pictures I had printed to scrap and never got to.   So these two were perfect to go with the Dec. 15th sketch at  "MY CREATIVE SKETCHES"   I think these were taken early spring last year, still cool but nice enough for a Saturday picnic in the park for my grandkids.    But once I had the sketch I wanted to use I started looking for papers to go with my pictures.    I had other challenges laying out on my desk and I saw the one for  "THROUGH THE EYES OF ROCHELLE SPEARS"    I loved the colors in the photo inspiration and I knew exactly what papers to use and they would go with the colors in the pictures too.

I used the 'Bella Blvd'  Illustrated Faith collection for this layout, I thought the colors were perfect for my pictures and the beginning of Spring.    I inked all the edges in black and also matted my two
pictures with black card stock.  Added some, white, blue, pink, green and blue butterflies to go with the colors and my layout was complete.

Here is the sketch,  you still have till the 14th of January to enter at "MY CREATIVE SKETHCES".

And here is the Photo Inspiration for "THROUGH THE EYES OF ROCHELLE SPEARS"
You have until Jan 29th at 11:50 PST to enter.

Mini Golf Fun

First I want to thank Leslie for asking me to join the 2017 Design Team at "The Memory Nest"
I'm so honored to be here.

Even though it is the 2nd of January and color here in Missouri.   I decided to warm it up a bit by scrapping some pictures of two of my grandsons playing mini golf late last summer.
I used a semi large chevron type paper for my background.    Then I just added my two pictures.
I printed them 3.25 x 5.25 and then cut leaving a very very thin white edge.  Then a green card
stock mat, to go with the green of the mini golf hole, then a darker brown mat to offset the
beige background paper.   I added brown alphas for my title and a couple of little golf stickers for embellishments.    Finally for just a bit more color I inked the edges of my background paper with
green ink.

Please join us by using this great sketch to start off 2017 at  "THE MEMORY NEST"

November 2016 title card

I rotated this first sketch for January at "SKETCHES IN THYME PROJECT LIFE STYLE"
to make my November title card.    I was laying in bed Nov.1st watching the news and when they showed the rest of the weeks weather I knew I had to snap a picture of the TV screen and use it on my PL pages for the first week in November.    The actual first day of November was even warmer at 76.   Can't complain about this kind of weather here in Kansas City.  It usually not really cold yet but not a full week and more that you can spend all daylight hours outside.

Below is my completed page for the first week.   Includes a great BBQ stop for lunch,  Pizza out one night, my granddaughter Mylan turned 7 on the 4th and then how we spent the first weekend of the month.  Saturday was outside putting up our Christmas lights.   I know it was early but my philosophy is "its easier to do it when the weather is nice than when its cold and wet.

Here is the sketch and just go to  "SKETCHES IN THYME PROJECT LIFE STYLE"
every day to see what the Design Team does and then every week for a new sketch.
