Fun Time

This layout is a combo challenge entry.   In one of my online scrapping groups one of the challenges was to make a layout using a all white background.     I have been waiting to scrap this B&W picture of my great nephew Silas.     I saw one of the challenges at  "SCRAPBOOK CHALLENGES"
The Liftapalooza by Natalie & decided it was the perfect layout to lift and have the white background.    I used just Black and White paper but wanted a pop of color so went with red in my matting, embellishment and title and used a red pen to journal.

Cute Silas

One more layout made for the Silas album.     But he is just such a cutie I love making these layouts.

When I first saw the latest sketch at   "SCRAP MUCH?"  I wasn't really thinking two pictures but these must have been taken back to back to I had to scrap them together.    This sketch was going to work perfect for two overlapping pictures.

Still just a few hours over 2 days left to link up your entry on this challenge.   Check out all the details here at   "SCRAP MUCH?"

See the World

Did a lot of digging in my collections to find all I needed for this layout.    I wanted to enter the  "SCRAP OUR STASH"   Sketch plus 3 challenge.   I've had it on my desk for over a week trying to decide just what to do but since I've been catching up on my pictures from 2005 Sydney vacation last couple of days I thought this would be perfect for doing another page for that album.

From list #1 I used Jillibean Soup papers for all the patterned papers behind my pictures.   These papers are from the Sightseeing Stew  & Spicy Social Stew collections.   The title I also cut from a 3x4 card in the Sightseeing collection and the Travel Notes card for journaling came from that collection.

From list #2 I used Kraft, the back ground paper and the kraft and green paper bottom right are from
My Minds Eyes - Kraft Fun Day collection

From list #3 I used lined paper,  this is on the 3 banner flags and on travel notes journal card.
The banner flags I cut from paper from Crate Paper - Party Day collection.

It was a lot of fun putting this all together.   Check out all the details here at "SCRAP OUR STASH"
there are still a few days to enter.

Guitar Hero

One more layout made from the awesome sketches this month at "LET'S GET SKETCHY"    I worked all out of order this month.   Week 4 yesterday, week 2 the day before and week 3 today.
These sketches have been all about circles.   I even found a piece of patterned paper that was all circles and fussy cut a row to put along the edge.

It looks like Silas is going to take after his grandpa Bruce and play the guitar.   I'm sure there is a musical gene in the family.

Check out the challenge details here at   "LET'S GET SKETCHY"

Darling Dylan

I have had this picture of Dylan for a few months now.   This was taken while she was at her sisters
4th birthday party and playing with all the fun necklaces.   There were so many colors in the picture I think I was put off on using it till today.   When I was looking at the sketch just posted for Week 4 at
"LET'S GET SKETCHY"     There were so many possibitlies to use different colors.
I pulled out a couple of collections and went with  We R Memory Keepers - Quoted collection.
The colors were just right, even the paper with all the cameras on it pulled out more colors.
I had fun matting in different colors too besides just black.   Plus the muted background paper of grey and white let me mix all the other colors.

Check out the sketch and details for the challenge   HERE.

Cute Girls

I'm always pleased when I see pictures posted of my step granddaughters in Orlando posted on Facebook.    I'm more than ready to print them and make a layout.   I have a couple I'm working on today and the first one is this recent picture of them from Friday.

I used the  Week 2 sketch from Team B  at  "LET'S GET SKETCHY"    I used the Shimelle Star Shine collection for my papers,  I thought they went great with the colors of the girls dresses.
You have till the end of the month to enter any of the weekly challenges for April.   They have all been great.

Hermann bike race

This is my take on the Make It Monday #58 sketch at   "THE MEMORY NEST"    I just used 4 pictures instead of two.   I think it worked out well this way.     I'm not adding any title or anything to it until I see my son-in-law in a couple of weeks.   I think this was a 60 mile race he did in Hermann, MO earlier this spring but I'm not sure so don't want to title it until I know for sure.

I went with the Black and White background because his team jersey is black and white and then the circle design was perfect because I included the pictures of him when he had to stop and change an tire and I think that goes with tire in the photo,   Then just stayed with the green to go with the green in the landscape of the pictures.

You still have almost a full week to enter check out the details here at   "THE MEMORY NEST"

Taronga Zoo - Sydney, Australia

I really had fun with my take on the 4-15-16 sketch at "LET'S SCRAP"  I included some memorabilia I had from our trip to the Taronga Zoo while on vacation in Sydney, Australia.   It was probably the best zoo I have ever been to.   Especially the setting for the apes and chimps.   I have never seen such active and playful primates in a zoo surrounding.    Since my daughter is a Primatologist I was very impressed.   She got to go to Sydney a few years later and said she spent about an hour just standing and watching them run and play and was very impressed with their habitat.

This weekend I've been working on making more layouts from this 2 week vacation back in 2005.
I had made some pages from this trip years ago when I first started scrapbooking so there was a major change in my way of scrapping.

I added a couple of more pictures than the sketch showed on on the right of the sketch where they showed you could have flaps to open for various journaling and info I just included this brochure that I picked up at the zoo.

My favorite picture is the one of the giraffes and that you can see the Sydney Bridge in the background.

So check out the details here at  "LET'S SCRAP"  and i have the sketch below.

Sydney Botanical Garden

I've spent my scrapping day doing layouts to help fill in my album from my trip with my Dad and brother to Sydney Australia back in 2005.     It's been so fun going through all the old pictures and picking the ones I wanted to print and scrap.

For this layout I used the April 'Be Our Guest Sketch Challenge'  at  "THE SCRAP ROOM BLOG"

I LOVED it because I got to blend a bunch of different pattern papers together with my matting of course that I always love to do when I have different patterns together.

Along with going back to old pictures to scrap I also dug deep and pulled out an old collection that I have always loved.   I used My Minds Eye - So Sophia.   I thought the colors and patterns went well with my pictures.

Check out the challenge here at  the  "THE SCRAP ROOM BLOG"  you can enter put until 11:59 PST April 30th so still a week left to go.

I used the April 1st sketch at   "SCRAP MUCH ?!"   there have been plenty of great sketches this month to work on and you still have until April 29th to enter any of the challenges.

Back Flip Time

Yes I'm a Carl Edwards fan.    I met him back before he was in Nascar.   Both my brother and I lived in Columbia, MO and my brother had a race team with SCCA and Carl came to the shop and asked if he could work for "free" just to learn more about the cars and set-up and be in the racing surrounding.
So when he wasn't doing his dirt track racing he traveled to a few races with the team and worked on the crew and would also work in the shop too.   He was a super nice guy, just as he is still today.

I used the Sketch #103 at   "SKETCH-N-SCRAP"  for this layout and papers from Elle's Studio Cameron collection.

Master Gardeners @ Work

Bruce and Leslie and Jason went to see Dad last Sunday and after having Brunch out and grocery shopping they helped Dad get all his green plants back out on the patio from being inside all winter. Plus they also bought some new flowers for Dad to plant later.    Luckily Jason took these pictures and sent them to me so I got to make the layout even though I wasn't there to share in the fun.

I used the April 15th sketch at   "SCRAP MUCH ?!"   It was perfect for the three pictures I had.

3 1/2 months

It's been awhile since I've made a layout of Silas but decided to make one today.   I have to make a layout of his 1st birthday from last month still but for today went back to this series of pictures from 3 1/2 months.      I did my take on the sketch at   "STUCK ?! SKETCHES"    I actually pulled the 4 different pieces of papers behind the picture from my scrap drawer and then my last piece of baby patterned paper that will work for a boy.    I still have a boy patterned paper with a lot of toys on  it but will use that for another picture I have in mind now that he is up and playing with his "big boy" toys now.

You have till the end of the month to enter this challenge.   Be sure and check it out at
"STUCK ?! SKETCHES"   and get your layout made.    There will be 2 lucky winners this month for prizes and also a 3rd entry will get to be guest designer.

Surprise

We got back to Kansas City from two days in St Louis  Tuesday afternoon and there was a big box I could see on the front porch.     It was a delivery from a few hours earlier from Pro Flowers.
What a surprise when I opened it to see 2 dozen roses from my best friend all the way from NY.
Also her cousin that I have been visiting now for several years.   Deb comes into St. Louis from NYC a couple of times a year to her cousins home and I meet them there for some girl time, along with other friends we have added over the years.     The reason for the flowers is I'm the first of the group to reach the grand old age of Medicare and 65 (which we all joke about)  and I also had cataract surgery two days after my birthday on the 6th.   So to throw me off and totally surprise me they waited a week to send these to me.    Looks like next planned trip hopefully in May I'll be treating them to dinner for this awesome surprise.     Neither of them scrapbook but I'm slowly trying to work them into it.   We did make some cards last trip.   So I'll take this layout with me next time to see if I can get them addicted to the hobby too.

For this layout I used the sketch from April 1st from  "STUCK ?! SKETCHES"    It worked out great to be able to include the card that was with the flowers.

I also did the challenge at "THE SCRAPROOM"   to use at least 3 piece of wood on your project and I used 5.

Cat's Meow

Ever since I started working on this layout I've been singing over and over the "Soft Kitty" song from Big Bang Theory.    I just loved that one of the collections of cat papers that I have had this strip of words on it.

I am doing this layout for my Design Team today at "LASTING MEMORIES"    Staying with the music theme of the month - the challenge theme for this week is BROADWAY.     Of course you can use your own take on the challenge anyway you want.    I did the take of the Broadway show  "Cats" and made a layout with pictures of my cats.   We have a house full of six cats and got pictures here on 5 of them,  getting the sister  Amy of Abby that is on the bed is next to impossible.   But then they are identical so who knows for sure who I'm getting a picture of.  :)    But onto the challenge, you might interpret the challenge to make a layout about your trip to NY and going to a play or just walking the area.   Or maybe in your hometown a travel company came and put on a broadway play.   Or perhaps your own little stars were in a play in their school.     However you interpret this challenge we are looking forward to seeing your layout.

Friendship Card

When I started looking at challenge blogs aw the new sketch at "PALS PAPER  ARTS"  and I immediately started working on the card.    I had this little sunshine face sitting on my desk for the last few days and I knew it would work on this sketch.

Check out the details  on the link above.

You Make Me Smile

Yellow is my favorite color and we have a challenge in one of the yahoo groups I am to make a card using shades of yellow so that is what I did with this card.    I picked out the card sketch #71 at
"SKETCH-N-SCRAP"  to make this card and it worked out great for all my patterned papers with yellow as the main color.

Check out the details    HERE.

Fall School Party

One last layout made for the trip to see the grandkids on Monday.   Was looking for two pictures to use together and found these I hadn't scrapped of Addisyn at her school Fall party.   Coloring an autumn tree and then snack time.

I used the "LET'S GET SKETCHY"  Team A from the first of April.    The layout was perfect for
vertical pictures.   The theme this month is circles and I've been holding onto a punch out of a circle.   I used the center circle ages ago on a layout and now using this.   So glad I saved it.  The colors
worked perfectly with my papers here.

Chillin'

Taking off to St. Louis for a couple of days the first of the week so wanted to see what other layouts I could get finished of the grands to take with me for them.    I had these 3 pictures they took on a60 plus degree day the end of February when everyone went swimming in the hot tub.

The Sketchy-Friday sketch at "SCRAP MUCH?"  was perfect to use.

I pulled out a couple of old collections and went with the papers from Fancy Pants - Wave Searcher.
I love just grabbing a couple of old collections and see what I can use and clean out some of my older papers.   Still several sheets left but now that I've looked at it again, maybe even today I'll use more of it.

Check out "SCRAP MUCH?"  and see what all is going on there this month.

Hoppy 2016

Another new month and that means another chance to combine the Scrappy Friends challenge.
This includes  "ROCHELLE SPEARS BLOG"   "GRAND DIVA'S SCRAPPY PLACE"  and
"CREATING WITH PAPER & MORE"

I chose to scrap this picture of Kai and Mylan hanging out with the Easter Bunny at Brunch this year.
I was hoping to get some Easter egg hunt pictures but glad I got this one, its a fun picture.

Just go to each of the links below to check out the details and see the prizes offered in each of these challenges and one special prize too if you combine all 3.

"ROCHELLE SPEARS BLOG"   you have the choice to use a PL card or a journal card and I chose to use the decorated journal card to write the details of where the pictures were taken.

"GRAND DIVA'S SCRAPPY PLACE"  gave you a choice of 3 different sketches to use, I chose the one that I thought would work best for me to use a journal card with.

"CREATING WITH PAPER & MORE"   had a mood board and I was inspired by the  square of Easter/Spring words,  the squares with bunnies, Easter eggs and all the pastel colors in all the board.

Super Hero Day

These two cuties are dressed to head off for school to celebrate "Super Hero Day"   So Batman and Spiderman shirts on they are ready for the day at school.

I used the single page sketch at "STICK IT DOWN"  for this layout.

I'm also going to use it for one of the monthly challenges at one of my yahoo groups for pick 5.
I used card stock, patterned paper, alpha stickers, washi tape and the color red from the list given to choose from.

Here is the 'STICK IT DOWN"  sketch check out the details and join the challenges for this month.

Baseball Season 2016

Baseball season has started in St. Louis and Bryce and Gibson had 2 games last weekend.   I hope we can get there some weekend to see them play.  So far just have trips planned there during the week, so might get lucky for a weeknight game.

For this layout I used the latest sketch at "THE MEMORY NEST"    So glad I found a good sketch that I could use both pictures together.    Check out the sketch below.

EGGS

I got this picture of the grandkids from Nikki and she said they were eating as many of the hard boiled eggs as they could after dying them.    But having a great time.    So I thought it would make a cute Easter layout.

I used the April 1st sketch at "SKETCH-N-SCRAP"  it was perfect for this one picture.

These are pictures from this Easter of my granddaughter Addisyn showing off the Easter eggs she found at a party at a home of her parents friends.

Rock Out !!!

I was lucky enough to be asked to join the "LASTING MEMORIES" design team and today is my first reveal.

This months challenges are going to be all about the different eras of music.   Fun times for sure.
These pictures are all of my brother.   He graduated from High School in 1972 and went on the road with the band he had been playing with during high school with a few additions to the group.   They traveled all over the midwest.   I've already made a couple of layouts for him from a few pictures from back in the day.   But this layout is a variety of pictures taken at different places he has played over the last few years.

He did quit the band after 8 years and went to college and started his own very successful software business and then was able to sell it and retire when he was in his 40's.     After that one of adventures was making high end electric guitars,  he even made a special one he gifted to  Sheryl Crow.    Now as a job and hobby he has a recording studio in his home and has recorded several bands from the midwest and one group that even traveled from Sweden and recorded with him for about 2 weeks.    During all these years his love for music never left him.   He has a band he is in now that plays at a lot of local events and clubs and had also been asked to play lead guitar with groups that recorded at his studio for special gigs.   So these are pictures from some of those events.

For this challenge   "The Disco Era"   I went with the inspiration of music and the colors and design of the challenge picture.      The black in my music themed paper behind the pictures,  even the coloring of some of the pictures go with the challenge picture and then I used bright yellow card stock and matted with purple card stock to pull more of the bright colors in the picture and then embellished with hot pink and silver puffy mini guitars.

I hope you will join us this week and all the weeks in April and check out what the Design Team has to inspire you with.     "LASTING MEMORIES"
