Leslie's Christmas Tree 2013

finally starting to get a little scrappy mojo back.   I feel like I haven't been my usual prolific scrapper since early November.    But I'm determined to get going again.      So starting off today I made this layout using Sketch #61 at My Scraps & More blog.  You can check it out  HERE
I always love the sketches here but wasn't sure what to do with this one.   Then I remembered Leslie had sent me these pics of her tree in DC back in early December after they had it up and decorated.
She is just like me on having ornaments that mean something to her.     She sent the close up picture of the Rainbow Bright ornament that she has had since she was probably 4 years old.    That was always the ornament she looked for each year and put on the tree herself and was always worried it would get lost or broken.   So far so good thru many moves.    The other close up ornament picture she sent me was the one she bought Feb 2013 in Puerto Rico representing the National Park they were in when Jason proposed.    I just love it and so glad she loves special memories like I do.
One of their Christmas presents this year I gave them were 2 ornaments, one is a cruise ship, also to represent the cruise the went on during their engagement and the other was a camera ornament since both she and Jason are photography enthusiasts.

Santa Bruce

I got this picture last night from Bruce to show me he has all the presents wrapped and the tree up, just waiting for everyone to start arriving today.    Jason and Susan and the grandkids have already started driving from Texas.   Leslie and Jason are flying in from DC later this afternoon so to keep from just pacing and watching the clock I decided to start the day scrapping.
We got our first snow last night, about 4" and Arthur is out with the snowblower and clearing the driveway.   Luckily snow has all moved out of area so won't be any problems.
Red Carpet Studio Challenge #59 "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" is to use the Sketch at
Stuck Sketches?!   (which I had made another layout from that a couple of days ago)  and then to include a Christmas tree on the layout.   I have trees on my paper, in the picture and 2 as embellishments.   Have I mentioned I LOVE making Christmas layouts?   LOL
Check out the Red Carpet Studios challenge    HERE   you still have time to enter while you are waiting for Santa to arrive and make sure that the Grinch doesn't steal your Christmas.

One last Christmas card made

I've been making Christmas cards all month and before even, but needed one more so got this made this morning.     In my online scrapping group everyone posts their cards with such a cute display to showcase them, I finally got around to doing something with mine for the group.
I used the Dec. 20th  sketch at SketchnScrap blog for this card.   Such a versatile sketch, I'm sure I'll be using it again for all kinds of cards.     You can check out the challenge HERE

Believe

Just as the title to my layout says,  "Believe"    Always believe in the magic of Christmas.
I have many pics of my kids with Santa as they were growing up  When we were shopping in IKEA the afternoon of Black Friday this year and we saw Santa and his lap was empty and no little kids in line I had Leslie go over for a picture.     I knew I wanted to do a layout with a 5x7 and just showcase the picture.    When I saw the December sketch on the My Minds Eye blog and the options for bigger pictures I knew I would use this picture.    They have a great sketch this month and show with a regular size pic or use it with 2 pics or a larger one.   You can check it out HERE
I love Christmas paper and for this I opened up my collection of MME  Vintage Christmas and used them for the layout.  I knew this paper with the Santa background would be perfect and then added the strip with the vintage Santas and then the B side to that paper too and also some of the awesome embellishments that came in the collection.
One more challenge for the end of 2013.    At Lasting Memories the challenge today is
LM #171 'Here Comes Santa Claus!'     So this layout works perfect for that challenge too.
BTW,  Leslie asked Santa for an IKEA GC,  but I've already shopped for her and that is not what she got.  LOL
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEARS EVERYONE.

OUCH

During an Ice and Snow storm in the Dallas area, the kids got to use the Golf Course for sledding.
It was all fun and games until Kai fell off his sled and got an ice burn on his face.   His tooth was already very loose but the fall from the sled took care of taking it out.    He couldn't find the tooth but I'm sure the Tooth Fairy was still able to find him.      I really liked the Dec. 1st sketch at "Boy Meets Girl Scrapbook Challenges", it was perfect to use this series of pictures.    You can check out the challenge   HERE

I got lucky and this layout will qualify for another challenge too.   "Frosted Designs" - My Favorite Things challenge highlighted some of the words from this classic song from the Sound of Music.
The challenge was to use 3 of the highlighted words as elements or such in your layout.
I used "mittens" my background paper,  "snowflakes"  my embellishment and "silver and white",  there is white letters in my paper arrows and my title I used silver Thickers.

Family - 3 Generations

The whole Greenberg family got together in Long Island, NY for a wedding and it was the perfect opportunity for getting this picture of 3 generations   (skipping one generation)
This is my husbands Mom, his son and daughter and their children.     Where was my mind????
Why didn't I get a picture of him with everyone.
But I have this picture and was able to make a layout using the 12-15-13 sketch at "Stuck Sketches Blogspot"    They have a great prize this month.    I've already entered my layout from the sketch on Dec. 1st, but there is still time to do both if you haven't yet.    You can check it out   HERE

In The City

I'm working a little backwards today.   For the 2nd page of my Rockefeller Center layouts,   I used Week #1 at Lets Get Sketchy.        I still have a lot more pics of our trip to NYC but having fun today getting these created.    It seems like its been forever since I had a full day of nothing to do but scrap my heart out.    I've missed it so much.     With Christmas 2013, I'm actually starting my 4th
3 ring album of Christmas layouts.

NYC

We are just back from a trip to NYC for a niece's wedding.   Even though we spent a day in Manhattan, doing all the touristy sightseeing, we were not at Rockefeller Center at night to see the tree lights at night, it was just to cold and tired from walking all over.   I have pictures of the tree and the plaza during the day that I'll scrap later, but once again Facebook comes to the rescue and I got this picture of Rockefeller Plaza Christmas tree all lit up at night.     I found the perfect sketch to use at Let's Get Sketchy,  December Week 3 sketch.     You can check it out   HERE

HOME

I'm ready for a scrappy kind of day and my first layout I completed this morning is this one.
I used Sketch #257 at Creative Scrappers.  They have a great prize this month so be sure and check it out.     The sketch was perfect for this one picture I had a journal box to tell about it.
I got the picture off of Facebook from the site set up about my hometown, Mexico, MO
This tree of lights has been set up in front of the AP Green Refractories for as long as I can remember.   It was the towns first sign of Christmas and I was always in awe of its beauty.
The brick plant has long been closed but I'm so glad the Christmas tree tradition continues.

My favorite Christmas layout in ages.

I saw an example of this layout made up online somewhere 2 months ago,  I printed the example out because it really struck me how much I liked it and knew I would want to make one using the same design.    I picked out my background paper (even though in this picture your really can't see it and also the center musical paper.   It set on my side desk all this time waiting for just the right picture.
Last month I went ahead and figured out what size I would need for the squares and decided I would just do red and green and then cut a few example fonts and sizes of the numbers.   Made my notes of what to do when the time came.    Then late last week my daughter in law posted this picture on my grandkids outside during the "snow day" in Dallas,TX on Dec. 9th.   I knew this would be the picture to use.   I have been out of town for a week to NY for a niece's wedding so I was anxious to make this layout as soon as I got home.    I was so glad to find out the Whimsical Twist - December/Holiday project challenge was still open and I would have time to make my layout today and enter it.
You can check out the challenge     HERE   They have a great prize with the challenge for a $15 Gift Certificate for their store.

Ice Ice Baby

When I was posting my last layout for the red/green/white challenge at Lasting Memories.   I saw what the #168 challenge was....... "Snowflakes and/or Snowballs"     well that fit perfectly on the layout I made yesterday.      My son and family live in Dallas and they are in the middle of an ice storm.   No school or work on Friday so the kids were out all day,  playing on the ice and snow covered yard.     I have a lot more pics I'll have to make layouts from, but this is the one I did of my granddaughter and just "skating" across the yard"    I am to late to enter it there but still wanted to share on my blog.

Our Christmas Tree

Another Christmas season and another layout of our Christmas tree.       It does look a little different this year as I wrapped red ribbon and also silver ribbon around the tree.    Once again I didn't use any ornaments, just the ribbon and holly picks and Poinsettia picks.    Next year I'm going to go back to ornaments and really load it up.   I have so many I've collected over the years and have just gotten lazy the last couple of years.       I use todays challenge #169 at Lasting Memories.   To do a red/green/white theme layout.   You can check it out HERE     You can't beat a challenge like this for the holiday season.    My favorite holiday to scrap.   Could be because I have an insane amount of Christmas papers.

Plaza Lights 2013

A Christmas season doesn't go by that I don 't want to be at the Plaza to see all the stores lit up.
It's just magical.   This year we went  a couple of days after Thanksgiving while Dad was in town.
We had dinner at the Cheesecake Factory and the weather wasn't to cold yet so got to walk around a bit and take some pictures.     The sketch posted Dec 7 at Let's Capture Our Memories was perfect for incorporating several pictures on one page.    You can check it out   HERE
They have an awesome December prize.    A copy of Scrapbook & Cards Today's 2014 Scrapbooking Planner and Sketch Calendar,   that would sure keep me organized!

Joy

Just took this picture a couple of days ago of Dad and me.   He was here the day before we left for Texas for Thanksgiving and then a couple of more days after we got back to KC.   I had all my decorating finished before he got here so was glad he got to see everything decorated and the outside lights,   It's been a couple of years before he has been to my house around Christmas time.
So I wanted to make sure I got a picture of the two of us in front of the tree.

It's been so long since I posted and entered a challenge.   I totally forgot to add that I used the latest sketch at    Stuck U Sketches.     Be sure and check it out.
