Fishing in the Great Outdoors

My grandkids in Texas had a fun Easter Sunday out fishing with their Dad, they LOVE everything outdoors.   Mylan, my granddaughter loves fishing more than anyone and would go out every day if possible.

For this layout I was inspired to use the sketch #370 at  "SKETCHES IN THYME"
Here is the sketch I used.

You Are So Beautiful

I just love the beauty of the sky now that we live at the lake.   We have witnessed the most beautiful sunsets and colorful skies.    The picture on the left is at dusk on the 18th of this month and everything had changed to these beautiful shades of purple and then we woke the next morning to a bright enough sky at 6:00 a.m. to read by with the full moon shining in so brightly in our bedroom windows.   It wasn't till about 7:30 when I stepped out and took the picture where you could still see the full moon before it set.   Too beautiful sights.

I'm entering this layout at   "LASTING MEMORIES"     for challenge #442 - Look Up At The Sky Day

LM #442 - Look Up At The Sky Day

Hello, hello! Welcome back to Lasting Memories! We are so happy that you have stopped by today. We hope you are having a good weekend and that you are ready for a new challenge.

April's theme is - Holiday insights for interesting prompts and this week our interesting holiday is - Look Up At The Sky Day!

Look up at the Sky Day is a fun day to check out what's up there. 'Ya never know what might be up there. An asteroid or meteor may be on its way. A solar eclipse could be on display. A flock of geese or birds may be overhead (you may need to duck for cover!). or, the clouds may be forming into interesting characters and patterns. Take a few minutes out from your busy day to look up at the sky today. If nothing else, the break from the routine will be relaxing.

LM #442 - Create a layout about what you see looking up at the sky

Bloom and Grow

Living on a lake and relatively out in the country we have learned that to have pretty flowers through the summer we need to pot them all and leave them on our deck or boat dock.   Because if we plant anything, other than a few shrubs and a couple of rose bushes, the rabbits and deer at some time during the summer will start feasting.

We bought the majority of the flowers we will pot for the season this last weekend at our favorite nursery in Columbia, MO,  Strawberry Hills.    Then yesterday I spent the day putting together various pots.

I'm going to enter this layout at  "LASTING MEMORIES"  for challenge #440.   It was the first of the weekly challenges for this April.

LM #440 - Lawn and Garden Month

Hello, everyone! Welcome back to Lasting Memories! We are so happy that you are here today.

Today is the start of a new theme and a new set of challenges. DT member Tina is hosting our challenges this month! The theme that she has chosen is - Holiday Insights for Interesting Prompts - so we will be focusing on some of the not-so-well-known holidays in April. Here is the first challenge of the month:

April is Lawn and Garden Month and nothing says springtime more than the sprouts and shoots of a garden.

LM #440 - Create a layout about your yard in April

We want to see what your yard looks like. Are your flowers in full bloom or are they just starting to bud? Do you put out a garden each year? Maybe you don't have a yard but you love to look at the flowers out in the stores this time of year, or maybe there's a yard in your neighborhood that you love...

EGG HUNT

I was waiting until I got my Easter pictures of some of the grands before I used the Scrappy Friends challenges for April.    We spent this Easter with Elle and she was such a delight hunting for eggs.   She loved the hunt and the surprises in the eggs.

I used the sketch from "ROCHELLE SPEARS SCRAPBOOKING"  and the photo inspiration challenge at  "SCRAP WITH STACY".

Here is the link and  sketch from "ROCHELLE SPEARS SCRAPBOOKING"
and here is the link for "SCRAP WITH STACY" and the photo inspiration.   I was inspired by basket of eggs and the Easter theme of the picture.

The Hunt

We had a great Easter yesterday with my granddaughter Elle, at just about 27 months she took right too Egg Hunting and had a great time.

For this layout I used the Pick your Side Sketch Challenge at  "SCRAP OUR STASH"
I used the right side of the sketch and the twist was to also use buttons, brads or enamel dots.
I used 7 brads, one purple square one in the middle, 4 round brads and 2 flower shaped brads.

Family Christmas

I have pretty well made all the Christmas layouts I can for my groups of chronological Christmas albums through the years but I'm working on filling an album for my son and grandkids to take home with them when they visit here this summer and I realized I always keep all Christmas layouts myself.    So since Christmas papers is something I'm never lacking in I decided today to make a couple of layouts for my sons latest album.

I used the single page sketch at   "STICK IT DOWN"   for this layout.   Check it out below and use the link to see everything for yourself.

Rockin' the Shades

I don't know what is going on with my granddaughter and wearing the sunglasses.   The picture on the right I got first from her daycare, it was bring a friend to school day and she brought her sock monkey and perhaps the shades, that I  have no clue about.   But she was more than ready to have her picture taken by the teacher.   Then the bigger picture I got a few days later from her Dad just out of the blue,  looks like they helped with the special effects on this one, they would never give her a soda can, but I can easily see her wanting the wear the shade again and put her had on backwards.   She loves wearing all kinds of hats.

Anyway for this layout I used Sketch #368 from the 2nd week of April at  "SKETCHES IN THYME"
I love it that other than my background paper I just pulled out a handful of scraps of patterned paper and pulled some out and used them.

Here is the link to "SKETCHES IN THYME"  and the sketch #368 I used is below.

Dogwood Trees

We had another random couple take our picture under this beautiful Dogwood tree while we were visiting Silver Dollar City last week.     When I saw Sketch Challenge #175 today at   "SKETCH N SCRAP"  I knew it would be perfect for this picture and to use some of a new package of white flowers I bought just a couple of weeks ago.   I found the perfect background paper in an old Craft Smith Stack called Seaglass.

Special Dinner Out

When I saw the new challenge at  "LASTING MEMORIES"  Challenge #441 is "No Housework Day"   my immediate thought was eating out.    My husband, other than dusting and laundry likes to do a lot of work around the house, he will vacuum before I will and empty the dishwasher and clean countertops.   So my idea of no housework is No Cooking.   I would eat out all the time if I could.

I had this picture taken of us on the 4th when we went out to a nice dinner for my birthday so I thought it would be perfect for this challenge, because I had the whole day as a  "Me Day" and finished it by a fantastic dinner out at a place new to us we have been wanting to try.    It was great and we will go back.

LM #441 - No Housework Day

No Housework Day is your chance to do anything, except housework! Better still, have someone else do the chores or a day. Housework is a daily, seemingly endless and repetitive group of tasks. It often goes unrecognized and worst of all...taken for granted. But watch out! If the dishes aren't done, or there's no clean towels, somebody notices!

Celebrate No Housework Day: if you normally do the housework around the house, cease and desist for the day. Instead, kick back and enjoy the day. Relax and do anything except housework!

LM #441 - Create a layout of you relaxing for the day

Best Friends

These two just have my heart, my Dad and my youngest grandchild.   They have the biggest bond, just like her Mom had with Dad when she was little and still now, but now Elle has taken over being #1 in his heart.

I kept this layout totally CAS (clean and simple), just two colors and a few small embellishments.
This is my take on April sketch at   "LET'S GET SKETCHY"
Use the link above to check it out and all the details and here is the sketch.

Sharing

They have a great April 1st challenge going on at  "SCRAP OUR STASH"     It's their cartoon inspired challenge.   The cartoon is The Care Bears and there is also a sketch to use.
Along with the sketch you need to pick a care bear and use the color associated with it and the symbol on the Care Bears chest.   I chose Share Bear, the color is lavender and the symbol on his chest is an ice cream soda.    I used my cricut to make my ice cream soda embellishment and then I chose this picture of my granddaughter and my Dad during their weekly lunch out on Sundays.
Dad so looks forward to these visits each week and Elle loves going over there to be with him, they have such a special bond.   And now she is old enough to get some licks of his ice cream cone he always gets for dessert.   So here are my special Care Bears Sharing.

Here is the link to the challenge at  "SCRAP OUR STASH"  and more info and the sketch.

Story of the weeks

This is my Granddaughter at 26 months old.   For her first year my daughter and son-in-law took a weekly picture laying on the same blanket on the floor with one monkey on one side and one on the other,   then also posted monthly pictures sitting in this chair with the monkeys on each side and now it is still continuing monthly into her going into her 3rd year.   And she also keeps these weekly recaps of the weeks, written as if it were written by Elle and her memories of her own week.

The story behind the monkeys is the one on the left is my daughters she got when she was 11 and started her love of all primates.   "Harry" went with her everywhere, to college, on every trip and even was carried into her wedding by the flower girl.    My son-in-law started looking on e-bay while she was pregnant to find the same monkey to buy for their daughter for when she was born.

So with the Fuzzy Fuzzy Monkey in mind I am entering this layout at   "USE YOUR STUFF"

Here is the link to  "USE YOUR STUFF"  and challenge #35 - Fuzzy Fuzzy

Challenge #353 - Fuzzy Wuzzy

Making Memories

Spring Break 2019 for the St. Louis grandkids took them to Las Vegas and then onto California for a cruise.   They had a great time all together.

I used the April Jump Start sketch at   "THE SCRAP ROOM GROUP"  for this layout.    I'll have to keep this sketch handy,  I liked it a lot.

Here is the link to challenge and the sketch.

Memories of LegoLand

I still had some more pictures of my Florida grandkids on their trip to Legoland over their Spring Break.   We can tell from all the pictures they took we had a great trip and so much fun.

I used Sketch #174 made by Lisa at   "SKETCH N SCRAP"  from April 1st to make this layout.

Here is the sketch and the link to  "SKETCH N SCRAP"   where you will be able to check out this challenge and the other layout sketch coming on the 15th and then 2 card sketches on the 5th and 20th.   So much to do here.   Have fun scrapping

14th Birthday

Last month our oldest grandson turned 14.   They grow up so fast, he is getting older and now much taller than me.

I used Sketch #367 at  "SKETCHES IN THYME"  for this layout.  I had two pictures of him and the birthday cake his Mom baked for him and worked out great to use them both.

Here is the sketch and the link to this first challenge of April at   "SKETCHES IN THYME"
