My Poinsettia Arrangement

This is a page from my December Daily, some pages are by days events and others are just my December decorations and such.   I don't remember where I bought this arrangement but I remember I loved it as soon as I saw it and it has been on my dining room table well over 15 years now.

I'm entering this at  "LASTING MEMORIES"  for their challenge #476 - National Poinsettia Day.

Now, for this week's challenge. The theme for December is - December - Daily Holidays, Special & Wacky Days - a fun spin for this holiday season - and this week's challenge:

LM #476 - Team B - National Poinsettia Day is celebrated on Dec 12 - Your challenge is to use poinsettias on your layout in some form.

These beautiful flowers are a well-recognized symbol of Christmas. Poinsettia Day was officially declared by an Act of Congress. It is in honor of  Joel Roberts Poinsett, who died on December 12, 1851. Poinsett was the first Ambassador to Mexico. Poinsett brought this colorful plant back to his plantation in the U.S.  He grew the plants in his Greenville, S.C plantation and gave them out as gifts to friends.

Christmas Joy

My daughter, son-in-law and 2 yr old granddaughter moved into their first house this April so this is their first Christmas of no apartment living or living with her uncle while they were house hunting and saving more for a house for a few years.   So she has loved decorating all over the house.   I gifted her so many of my decorations that I'm just to lazy to put out anymore and then she went shopping for new things on her own, like the snow day sign that is on their landing coming down the steps from the bedrooms.

I'm entering this layout at  "SOUL SCRAPPERS"  for their tic-tac-toe challenge #54.
I went with the diagonal top left to bottom right.... Red/Green/White, Christmas Theme & the word Joy.     I could have used lots of ways, as I have used all the squares except Designer paper.

Oh Christmas Tree

This is our 3rd year in a row going to Silver Dollar City for their Christmas Festival.   They had new lights on their big tree this year and the show was fantastic,  the lights changed colors, synched to music, displayed words and images, like angels, horse drawn sleigh, candle, snowflakes.   It was beyond spectacular.
I knew I wanted to scrap a lot of different pictures I took of the tree (and I could do this layout again and still have a few pictures left.  LOL)
I did my own take on the double page sketch for December at "STICK IT DOWN"  instead of making tree embellishments like so many did to follow the sketch I just decided to print one other tall picture of the tree.   I like how it turned out.

Here is the link to this challenge at  "STICK IT DOWN".

I am also going to enter this layout at  "LASTING MEMORIES"  for Challenge #LM 475 -
Wacky Holiday - Mitten Tree.

It's time for our last set of challenges for 2019. Our theme for December is 'Daily Holidays, Special & Wacky Days' - a fun spin for this holiday season. Our first challenge for December is:

LM #475 - Team A - Mitten Tree Day is celebrated on Dec 6- Your challenge is to either scrapbook a Christmas Tree or about Mittens

Christmas Decorations

I love sleighs around for the holiday and these are two of my favorites.   The one with Santa and his list I bought at a close-out after Christmas probably 10 years ago.   The other on I bought empty at least 20 years ago and I tied the bells around them and just added sprigs of greenery and berries to the inside and then I stuck in some candy canes.   FYI.  You shouldn't stick a candy cane to eat from there because most of these are the original ones I added.   LOL

For this layout I used the sketch for DT #3 at  "SKETCHES IN THYME"    I love making
Christmas layouts so every year I have layouts of my decorations and this is the first one I've made so
far for this year.    Another fun fact about the papers that I used, they are from 3 different Christmas
paper stacks I have, one that I bought this year and two from stacks I bought in the past.   I like
mixing papers and elements from different manufacturers.

Early Gifts

My son, my grandson Kai and granddaughter Mylan were in Missouri from Texas to celebrate Thanksgiving with all the family.    They will be with their Moms family over Christmas so my
daughter had some of their gifts already and let them open them while they were in town.
So they had some early Christmas gifts.   They will have to wait like everyone else for their other gifts because now they are all mailed out to them.

I made this layout with "SCRAP OUR STASH"  December Saturday Cartoon Inspired Sketch Challenge.      I was inspired by the red and green colors n the cartoon picture and my pictures have my very own little male and female Smurfs.   😁😁😁    You also have to have a ribbon and gold on your layout,  I added 3 tags with bows to my layout and the gold is the center of my ornament embellishment.

Check out the challenge here at  "SCRAP OUR STASH"!!!

Deck the Halls

I love sitting in the dark in my living room at the end of the day with only the lights on from the tree.
I feel so peaceful just sitting there and watching the lights twinkle in the darkness.
The other night before I went to bed, I took a couple of close-up pictures of some of the ornaments and I thought they would work great with this sketch #190 at  "SKETCH N SCRAP"

Then I saw the challenge #388 that was announced today at "USE YOUR STUFF" and I knew my layout would work great also for this challenge.   Plus I loved getting into my Christmas Stash and using some of my goodies.

Challenge #388 - It's Christmas Time!

Happy Monday!! Heather R here and it is my turn to share this week's challenge.  Hard to believe we are less than 10 days away from Christmas!  My kids are counting down.  So it seems only fitting to have a Christmas themed challenge for this week

Merry Christmas - Ho Ho Ho

Sorry for the shadows on my layout while taking the pictures, we are starting a pretty good snow here today so had to turn on extra lights for my picture taking.

The latest sketch at "SKETCH N SCRAP"  #191 was perfect for this group of 3 pictures, Santa alone and then Santa with hubby and Santa with me.   I love that I got to use my red background paper do the work of the title of my layout also and then I cut strips of the green snowflake paper to use as
borders of the layout and around the pictures.

Then for  "THE STUDIO CHALLENGE"  the Dec 15th layout challenge is Christmas Traditions.
This is our 3rd year in a row going to Silver Dollar City Old Time Christmas Festival.   We love it there and it is our tradition now to go during the year but always during the Christmas season.  Just so
festive there.  This was the 3rd year in a row stopping outside this shop to take a picture with Santa.

"SKETCH N SCRAP"

"THE STUDIO CHALLENGE"

15th Dec - Christmas Traditions

Good Morning! Today's challenge is ...

Your Christmas traditions, what is Christmas like where you are, is there something you always do at Christmas time that is different to other people's? Or maybe there's a tradition you have to do for it to feel like it really is Christmas.

Wrap Me Up

Our cats have gotten into the Christmas spirit.   We have one that likes to take a nap up in the branches of our tree and then two others that have taken turns napping in this box I got out to
use for shipping a couple of gifts.   I was tempted to just ship the cat, but thought better of it.   LOL

This layout I'm entering in the Scrappy Friends challenge for December.

I used the sketch at "THROUGH THE EYES OF ROCHELLE SPEARS"    I always love her sketches and the combined challenge of the Photo Inspiration at  "SCRAP WITH STACY"   this month I was inspired by the overall Christmas theme and the Cat in one of the squares.

My Snowman

I haven't scrapped in 2 weeks and that is a record for me.   I have so many new pictures to work with so I need to get busy.   But Family, Thanksgiving, Day Trip, Shopping, Wrapping and Decorating got in the way.    For those reason I won't complain about not doing my daily scrapping.    I was making memories and also collecting pictures for future layouts.      These pictures came from our Day Trip to the Old Time Christmas Festival at Silver Dollar City last week.   I just love going there to see all the lights.   So much fun.       This layout is going to work for a few different challenge.

First I started with a challenge for "SKETCH N SCRAP MONTHLY CHALLENGES"  Facebook page, along with the optional twist to not use any card stock.

Next I wanted to use the November Challenge at   "CHALLENGE YOURSELF"  as always you are to include a picture of yourself and with this challenge #72 it is Snowflakes.   Even though it was a great day for December temperature wise.   for my snowmen pictures I used all snowflake papers on my layout and for my embellishments.

And finally with all the different patterned papers I used on this layout I will be entering it at
"CRAFTY HAZELNUTS PATTERNED PAPER CHALLENGE"

December 2019 Challenge

Wishing you a very Happy Christmas

A challenge that is always about using
Patterned Papers

You may enter any creation on which some patterned paper/card has been used - please remember that you must use some patterned paper

You may enter as many times as you wish during the month and link with as many other challenges as allow you to do so.

Christmas cards for Pets

Christmas  Card time is here once again.   I have several made already but not near enough so today
I've been creating.    I made two new types of cards today for my grandkids pets.   I couldn't resist buying a stack of Christmas paper dedicated to dogs and cats.    I'm sure I'll have pictures of all the animals over the holidays to use some of it but decide to start using it today and make a couple of
fun cards.  I'm sure the grandkids will get a kick out of them and so will the animals.  LOL

Merry "Woofmas" for my granddaughter with 3 dogs and Santa "Paws" is coming to town for
my grandson and granddaughter who also have 3 dogs.  But my granddaughter also loves cats so have both on this one.

So I am going to enter these cards at  "SOUL SCRAPPERS"  they have a  12 days of Christmas Cards challenge going on now and one of the prompt was to make a Humorous or Funny
Christmas card  and these two sure qualify for that.   Not your traditional cards at all.

"SOUL SCRAPPERS"  Challenge CofC#7 due by Dec. 17th.

Cut the chaos out of you Christmas and get ahead on your christmas card making this year!!!
Welcome to my next challenge for '12 cards of Christmas'
'To Make a Funny or humorous Christmas card'

Trick or Treat Time

Our daughters family in Orlando always does a big themed family costumes for Halloween.
I used Halloween paper for the background but since nothing else in the pictures seemed "scary"
I went with different floral papers in the colors that were in their costumes and decorated golf cart
for the neighborhood party.

This is my last entry as Guest Designer at  "LASTING MEMORIES"   this month.

This weeks prompt is to use Floral Patterned Paper and I have that covered with 4 different designs.

It's been a great month of prompts and I've loved my time as a Guest Designer.

Together at the Game

Over the last couple of months I've been working on layouts for a travel album for my daughter.
Since we lost my Mom in 2005.   There have been several vacations and road trips we have taken my Dad on.   They have always included my brother and my daughter (before she got married) and my husband on all but one trip.     My family is by far my best friend(s),    This layout was about one
week long road trip we took from Missouri with stops in Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota.
The baseball tickets were a surprise for my Dad.   A baseball fan since he was a kid.

Since I'm in the group picture in our seats, that people in front of us volunteered to take for us
I will be entering this layout at  "CHALLENGE YOURSELF"  Challenge #71 - It's All
About Friends.

A Glittery Christmas card

I used the 2nd sketch for the month #158 at  "SKETCH N SCRAP"  for this card, it was fun
to make, totally different than any card I have made before.

Plus with the snowman and tree embellishment on my card I want to enter this card also at
"CRAZY HAZELNUTS CHRISTMAS CHALLENGE"
Challenge 464:

anything goes as long as it's Christmas
optional theme: use some glitter

Christmas Card

Slowly getting some Christmas cards made.    I turned to  "SKETCH N SCRAP"   to find a sketch
and their first card sketch #157 was perfect to work with.

I used a couple of patterned papers from a 6x6 stack and inked the edges and the edge of the card with green ink.   Then I colored in the gift box on my sentiment stamp and matted it with green
card stock with some red ink on it.   Viola I have a completed card.

Cheers

I'm entering this layout at  "CHALLENGE YOURSELF"   the theme this month is Friends.
In all honesty my very very best friends I have always had is my family.    Besides just time together visiting at each others houses.   We LOVE taking trips together, abroad and road trips in the states.
The pictures in this picture is when my daughter was studying at Oxford and my husband, my Dad, my brother and my nephew all went together to London to visit her and spend about 8 days traveling, we had a couple nights in London, a couple in Oxford and then 3 nights in Amsterdam and we also
rented a car one day and went to Stonehenge.    No matter where we are or what we are doing we
are having fun.

I had scrapped all these trips for albums for myself but the last month I've been putting together an album of our trips for my album and featuring mostly pictures where she is in them.  I'm the one
lower left in the selfie with her and then top right in the middle between her and my hubby.

Here is the link to the November challenge at  "CHALLENGE YOURSELF"

You can interpret the theme any way you like, but  please remember to include a photo with YOU (and your friends!!) on your page!

Turkey Card

I used my stash on this card for my Granddaughter.    I used a piece of scrap paper,  the scalloped edge is the reverse side of the brown polka dot background paper.    I have had this  felt turkey in
my stash for years and I thought it was perfect to use for this card because it would feel good for
my Elle to be able to touch and feel the turkey.

I'm entering this at  "SHOPPING OUR STASH"

One Big Pumpkin Cat

We had so much fun the day we went to Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO for their Fall Festival.
They had a lot of new things this year and we loved seeing it all.    Since we have 5 cats we both made sure we got our picture taken by the giant pumpkin cat.   The I took several pictures of the cat themed individual pumpkins,   these were some of my favorite that turned out well.

This will be my Guest Design layout for this week at  "LASTING MEMORIES"   the prompt this week is to use plaid on your project and used the green fall plaid on my layout.

Check out this weeks challenge here at  "LASTING MEMORIES" and every fun week during the month.

Texas Skyway

Here is my take on this weeks Sketch at   "SKETCHES IN THYME"     I decided to go with
gradient tones to use with this sketch, which is usually out of my comfort box but I thought it
worked out great.

Funny Girl

I just took these pictures of Elle Tuesday night when we were all out to dinner,   she wanted the orange slice I had in my ice tea.   She did eat it all but not before she had fun with it and got all the laughs she wanted making these faces.   I even got in on the act with her, so we had fun.

I used the November Saturday Cartoon Sketch Challenge at  "SCRAP OUR STASH"  and I made sure to include some fruit embellishments and fruit in my papers too.

Fall Together

Every Saturday morning is Tinkergarden outside with a group of kids and their parents, there are always lots of fun activities planned and after every playtime they get a "badge"  the leaf Elle is holding is the one for this last week.    When the kids posted this picture of the 3 of them together I knew I had to make a Fall layout.   So here is what I came up with, no sketch, just started adding things together.

I was inspired by three different challenges.

"THE PAPER GIRLS"   Challenge #187 - Mixed Up Manufactures
I used papers from Simple Stories, Photo Play and Echo Park, and also the orange leaf came from Recollections.

"USE YOUR STUFF"  Challenge #180 - Fall project with 3 leaves.   I have 3 plus leaves, with the the paper, stickers, fabric leaf and hand cut brown leaf.

"CRAZY HAZELNUT'S PATTERNED PAPER CHALLENGE"  - November challenge as is every month is to use a mix of patterned paper on  your project.,  Ihave that covered, with 5 different patterned papers.

Happy Birthday

HELLO FALL

We are going to see our grandkids in St. Louis tomorrow and I always have more layouts ready to take to them whenever we are together here or there.   I went through the stack I had made up and then found these pictures of Addisyn that I hadn't scrapped yet so went to work on getting one last layout made to take with me.

I'm entering them in the double Scrappy Friends Challenges

She has this awesome sketch this month that I used.

"SCRAP WITH STACY"
Has a great mood board for November and I was inspired by all the leaves, the fall trees, the pumpkin and all the gold/red/oranges colors of the falling leaves.
