Mahi Mahi

I'm entering this layout at   "LASTING MEMORIES"   because I stenciled the whole background card stock and using a stencil is something I rarely do.

LM #618 - Out of Your Comfort Zone - Tools

Now, on to this week's challenge. For September our theme has been - Out of your comfort zone - and we have been challenging you to step out of your comfort zone and try something new or different this month. Our last challenge for the month is:

LM #618 - Tools - we all have tools in our craft rooms that we never use.  Perhaps you bought the latest punch board but it's still in the wrapper or your Cricut is collecting dust.  Let's pull out those tools and put them to use this week!

Truman the Tiger

I thought this photo was going to work great with the September sketch at  "SCRAP OUR STASH".    I had gold and black paper I could use to go with the picture and scraps to use that would work too.   I also made sure to add two journal tabs that was a requirement with the sketch.

I'm also entering this at   "LASTING MEMORIES"  for their color challenge.    We were to use a color out of our comfort zone.    Actually I love yellow but it seems it is really hard to find patterned scrapbook paper that really goes all out yellow.   So this was fun making this layout with my favorite color but one that is hard to find a lot of.

LM #615 - Out of Your Comfort Zone - Colors

Hello, everyone! Happy Sunday to you! We are smack dab in the middle of the holiday weekend here in the US and I hope that - regardless of where you are - you are having a great weekend.

It is time for a new challenge! Our theme for September is - Out of your comfort zone - and we are challenging you to step out of your comfort zone and try something new or different. These challenges won't be too specific because each person will need to evaluate their own scrapbooking and do something different from their typical layouts. Here is this week's challenge:

LM #615 - Color - we all have colors that we dislike or find difficult to scrap with.  Perhaps yellow isn't your cup of tea, or you find purple difficult to use.  Choose a color and use it as the main color on your layout (you may include other colors as well).

Face Painting

I made this layout this morning for a facebook group I am in for our monthly 24 hour challenge.   I'm also going to use it at   "LASTING MEMORIES"   for their challenge #617 - Out of Your Comfort Zone - Embellishments.     I rarely use a lot of embellishment and rarely cluster them either.   But I used a lot of ephemera that came with this collection even for my title and then used 8 other pieces as embellishments, much more than I ever use.

LM #617 - Out of Your Comfort Zone - Embellishments

LM #617 - Embellishments - We tend to stick to the same embellishments on our layouts.  Perhaps you use mostly stickers and chipboard but rarely use wood veneer.  Maybe you're obsessed with enamel dots and don't use flair or washi.  For this week, choose embellishments that you rarely use.

Oklahoma City Federal Bldg Memorial

I was asked to be Guest Designer at "STICK IT DOWN" for the double page sketch in September.

It was perfect for some pictures I wanted to scrap.   When my brother and I took our Route 66 trip back in May, one place I really wanted to see not on the route was the Memorial at the Murrah Federal Building.

Check out all the challenges for September at Stick It Down, the double page, single page and the card challenge.

Kitty Cuddles

We brought home a new kitten last week.   I stayed clear for the first few days so my husband could bond with Ms. Emily first.     It seems all our other cats always stay closest to me.  So it was not till the 3rd day than I held her and celebrated having a new kitten.     Well it seems I must be the person our cats gather with.   Now Ms. Emily sleeps by my head on my pillow at night.   Hubby is jealous she sleeps with me.

I'm entering this layout at   "SCRAP-CHALLENGE-YOURSELF"  and the challenge #105 to celebrate the good times.      At our house cats are always a good time.

Go High Dad

I used the September sketch at  "THROUGH THE EYES OF ROCHELLE SPEARS BLOG" for this layout.   I really like it and I used up scraps too for this layout.

Take a Ride

I loved the sketch and I'm totally taken with using this big of a photo on a layout.   I tried desperately  to do the sunburst design in the sketch but failed miserably.   I think some of my problem was trying to use this straight striped papers.    But I real try again sometime when I have another big picture I want to scrap so for now this is my take on the single page sketch at   "STICK IT DOWN"

Well after having problems with the partial starburst pattern yesterday I went back today to work with what I had started.  (Luckily I didn't throw away the pieces)     This time it all worked out just fine.   I didn't have another picture that I wanted to print so big but I found these two I planned to scrap later and printed them bigger so they would fit the same format.

Ready Set Go

I was inspired by the September Wheel of Challenge at  "SCRAP OUR STASH"  I wanted to make sure and get this cute picture of my granddaughter and her Dad in this picture op in Hannibal, Missouri during a weekend camping trip in the area.     In using my stash I pulled out some saved papers I had from Echo Park "Let's Go Anywhere" collection.   I've saved it for some outdoor pictures.   Then I went through my HUGE collection of Project Life cards and pulled out 3 different ones to use on the layout.

New Bike

It was a big day when my granddaughter got her new 20" bike so I decided to make a layout of it with a bigger picture and use the challenge at   "LASTING MEMORIES"   I usually scrap 4x6 and 3x5" pictures so this time I did a 5x7

LM #614 - Out of Your Comfort Zone - Photos

Hello everyone! Welcome back to Lasting Memories! We are so happy that you have stopped by. We have a fun new theme and new challenges all set for the next month.

Just a quick reminder - starting with the September challenges we are no longer offering a monthly prize, but we will still have our Top 3 and Guest Designer picks each month.

For September,  DT member Lauren is challenging us to get out of our comfort zone and try something new. Here is what she has to say about our September theme -

We all have our own scrapbook style.  We tend to repeat certain elements, colors, and even layout designs.  This month, let's move out of our comfort zone.  These challenges won't be too specific because each person will need to evaluate their own scrapbooking and do something different from their typical layouts.

Our first challenge for September is:

LM #614 - Photos - create a layout using a photo that's not your typical size.  For example, if you mostly scrap 4x6 size, use a 5x7 or 8x10 photo instead.
