Hero Card

For my yahoo scrapping group we are in we are doing a 52 week card challenge.   There is a new prompt each week.     The prompt announced yesterday was to make a Hero Card, using red, white, blue and a star.      So when I saw the new challenge this morning at Red Carpet Studios was "Saving Private Ryan"  I knew that I could make a card for both challenges.    So here is my Hero card,  perfect for Memorial Day.    Check out the challenge   HERE.

Family

This the first of many family pictures.   I have to do a layout with Jason's parents next and then I want to do a layout with the combined families and also there are other version of family pictures taken so lots left to do.
For this first layout I used the sketch #57 at Sketch-Scrap.  It was really fun to work with and use up some little leftover strips of paper too.    Be sure and check out the sketch and challenge   HERE>

Flower Girl and Ring Bearer

If these two kids aren't the cutest Flower Girl and Ring Bearer I don't know who is.    It was so wonderful that along with my beautiful daughter as the bride I also had my two beautiful grandchildren in the wedding party.    In the gardens where the ceremony was held you couldn't drop any flowers or anything so Mylan carried Harry the monkey all decked out in his bow tie.  Harry has been everywhere with Leslie since she was 11 years old so it only seemed right he came down the aisle at the wedding too.    Kai carried the box that they made to carry the rings in.    We decided to keep it closed just for the safety of the rings during the walk down the aisle.

I used the Sketchy Friday sketch this week at Scrap Much? blog.   You can check it out   HERE>

Bridesmaid Beauty Time

Still going to town on wedding day layouts.    All of us went to the same salon Sunday morning to have our hair done.   Mother of the bride, the bride and all 3 bridesmaids.   It was fun getting pictures of everyone during the process.    I've already made a layout of Leslie having her hair styled so had to make one also of the 3 girls too.     I'm going to enter this in two challenges.      Just click on each name and you can check out the details and the prize.       First challenge is "1-2-3 Get Scrappy" where they are having a tic-tac-toe challenge.   I did the top row,  no flowers, more than 4 pictures, and rectangle shapes.     So no flowers used, I have 6 pictures and my pics and the double matting are rectangles and also the journal box is a rectangle.
The second challenge I am going to enter is at "Craft Hoarders Anonymous" Challenge #7 was Ribbon, Lace & Twine - you had to go to your stash and use some fiber on your layout.   I have a piece of light pink lace across the middle of the layout and then I used a piece of pale green patterned ribbon across bottom & top.

Athens

I took a break this morning from wedding layouts and made this honeymoon layout.   The happy couple are on their honeymoon in Greece for 10 days.   There first two days was in Athens and this was the first picture they posted on Facebook.     I just love this picture so wanted a sketch with out
to many papers to it and just showcase the picture.    Then when I found this background paper in my stash, I knew I wanted it to also be part of the overall theme, its actually the B side of a piece of Fancy Pants paper.       The newest challenge just announced last Saturday at Red Carpet Studios was "something Borrowed" you had to borrow one of the older sketches from the Stick it Down challenge blog.   I started looking and new this simplicity of this sketch was just what I wanted.    You can see the sketch below that I used and also just click   HERE  to read about the challenge at Red Carpet.  There is still 6 days to enter the challenge.

Bros

I love this picture of the two Jasons.    My son Jason on the right and my new son-in-law Jason on the left.   This was taken by someone just before the wedding.  It was posted on Facebook and I'm so happy I have it.

I'm going to use this in two challenges.   I used the sketch below from  the Stuck ?! Sketches blog and their May 1st reveal.  You can check it out  HERE.   I'm saving the sketch as I'm sure I'll use it again.
Don't you just love all the the different ways to used different papers, strips and banners and everything.

The 2nd challenge I'll enter this layout in is at Two Crafty Scrappers blog.   The challenge announced there on Friday was LAYERS.    I love matting my papers and my pictures, so I have single matting on some elements, double on two items and then all my patterned papers and strips and banners and the picture are all layered on top of each other.   Check out the challenge  HERE.

Carlyle House

The week before the wedding we went to the venue, the gardens behind Carlyle House, to see what was in bloom.     The white dogwood trees were in full bloom and beautiful and coming down as a canopy over the walkway where Leslie would be entering the ceremony site.    The dogwood is the state tree of Missouri and was my Mom's favorite flower.    Since Leslie is from Missouri and also had a lot of memories from her grandmother into her ceremony she was very pleased to see the trees in bloom.

I used the sketch below for the layout.   It is sketch #56 from the Sketch-n-Scrap blog.   Be sure and check it out    HERE    there is still time to enter the challenge.

Ready to go

I'm still scrapping today and here is one of just random pictures I took of Leslie's wedding dress and one of the bridesmaid dresses, just hanging on the rack at the hotel in the suite while the girls were all hanging out, having a little bite of lunch and waiting for the photographer to arrive and then get ready  to dress.    Below is the sketch that I used for this layout.

This is the first challenge sketch that is up at a relatively new challenge site.    Scrap and Play.   You can check out all the details of this challenge blog and the details of the first challenge.
I'm so glad I got home in time to work with the first sketch.        Check it all out    HERE.

Ring Box

I'm Back.......    I have been in DC for 2 weeks for my daughters wedding.   A week early to help in the prep and then a week after for a road trip to Copperstown and back home.     So get ready the
wedding layouts are starting.      This layout I used the sketch below.....

It's sketch #80 at the My Scraps and More sketch blog.    I always love the sketches here so it was only fitting I went there to find the sketch to start making layouts again after 2 weeks off.   This is my now son-in-law putting the final touches on the box they were going to use for the rings for the ring bearer (my grandson Kai) to carry down the aisle.    Jason was a hands-on groom and the three of us had so much fun that week before the wedding doing all the last minute DIY stuff and just enjoying the moment.      So be prepared this is just the beginning of wedding type layouts.
Be sure and check out this challenge     HERE>
