Lego Land, FL

My Florida grandkids have had a  couple of short trips over their spring break and this last part of the break they spend a  couple of days at Lego Land in Florida not that far from their home.
Dad had fun too because he loves carnival games and they had plenty to play there and he won lots of prizes for the girls.   Not sure who was having the most fun.

I used the last sketch for the month at  "SKETCHES IN THYME"  for this layout.

Here is the info and link is above in the name to the challenge.

You still have through the 31st to play along with this sketch or the other sketches for March.

Winter Hibiscus

When I saw the latest challenge at  "LASTING MEMORIES"  I  knew what I would do for my layout.    Just that morning I had walked upstairs and saw that our hibiscus was blooming again.
It had sat on the landing going upstairs in front of this big sunny window and through the winter
had bloomed several time and a new flower had just opened again.   All I had to do was find
the background paper to use and this is what I selected.

Here is the link to  "LASTING MEMORIES"  and the information on the challenge #439.

Challenge #172- Under the Sea

Hey there everyone! It's Erica here with the newest challenge on PGCB. Here in North America there has been crazy weather and I thought it would be fun to have a sea themed challenge. So the challenge is Under the Sea. This is a great time to use those beach pictures that you haven't scrapbooked or some of the fun stamps you've been itching to use.

Aquarium

A week ago we took a day trip to Springfield, MO,   it's just an hour and a half away.    We had half price tickets to World of Wildlife and Aquarium.    It had just been open for a couple of years and I had heard nothing but rave reviews about it.   Now I know why.   We spent 4 hours walking around and seeing everything.     It was awesome, so many different displays and areas to explore.   We loved it.    I am going to have lots of layouts to cover this excursion.    Here is the double I just made to show some of the displays of sea shells and then also some of the living wonders of sea life.

I'm entering this at  "SOUL-SCRAPPERS"     This is their E2N23 challenge that just started yesterday.   You have until  April 22nd to enter this challenge.

THIS MONTH

Lovely Granddaughters

I was so glad when I saw the new challenge #341 at  "USE YOUR STUFF"  this week.   The challenge is Washi Tape.   I have a good supply of  Washi Tape but I never think to use it.

I just got these pictures of my granddaughters from Orlando yesterday.  They are spending 3 days of their Spring Break at Sanabel Island.

I was looking for pictures that would compliment the colors in the bathing suit jackets and I pulled out my DCWV stack Elegant and Serene because I knew the colors in it would work great.   I decided to just use this one background piece and then accent it with some washi tape that would blend with it.  I started with the muted pastel tape with Cherish in gold on it.   Perfect color and sentiment for my pictures.   I put that stripe across the center of the page and the added a pink and gold strip of washi tape above that and then I have this really narrow pink and gold washi and I put two strips of those right together below the center washi.

Here is the link to the challenge at   "USE YOUR STUFF".

Challenge #351 - Washi tape

Hey Everyone! Lori here today to share this week's challenge. For this week's challenge, it's time to break out the washi tape and put it to use...use a little, use a lot, we want to see that awesome washi take a turn on your projects this week!

Aquarium Trip

Last Friday on the spur of the moment we took off for a 90 minute drive to Springfield, MO.   Just the night before I read in our Lake paper that the Wonders of Wildlife Museum and Aquarium had half price tickets for residents of surrounding counties all the way up to Lake of the Ozarks where we live.
Regular tickets are $44 per person, which I would not have spent but at $22 I wanted to go.
I'm so glad we went because it was incredible, we walked around looking at everything for just shy of four hours.   So it was time well spent.

I am entering this layout at   "THE PAPER GIRL CHALLENGES"  the 2nd challenge for March is
Challenge #172 - Under The Sea.    So of course our aquarium visit was perfect for the challenge.
Check out the link above and enjoy playing along.

Vegas Bound

Everyone is headed to Vegas and then a cruise for Spring Break.   Even Bo, Addisyn's support dog is going.     For this layout I used the March 15th Sketch #365 at  "SKETCHES IN THYME"  for this layout.  I had to rotate it to go with my horizontal pictures.     I am also entering this layout in a second challenge, the photo inspiration challenge #438 at  "LASTING MEMORIES"   For that challenge I have green paper on my layout since it is an Irish inspired photo and also I was inspired by the idea of traveling from the photo and that is what this layout is about.

Other than the background paper, everything is from a 6x6 paper pad.   I rarely remember to use these papers and I have so many 6x6 pads so I'm glad I thought of them for this layout.   In my mind I was going to mat all the papers with black but just started glueing everything down and then realized I forgot so I just took a marker and outlined all the different patterns so they would stand out a bit.

Here is the link to this challenge at  "SKETCHES IN THYME"  and the sketch.   Check out all the weekly sketch challenges they have going on for the month.   So far I have used them all.  They are all great.   You have till March 31st to link your layouts.

Sweet & Delish

My stepson and his wife are in Vegas at her parents for a few days before they go to California to start on a cruise for the kids spring break.    The grandparents are taking care of the kids for 2 days while the grown-ups get to stay at a hotel and live the Vegas life.   But with these desserts they got I'm not sure if that makes them grown ups.   LOL    I don't know the name of the place they went to but it is know for these huge specialty drinks.    I knew I had this old collection of Bo Bunny - Sweet Tooth papers and knew they would be perfect for these pictures.

I used sketch #173 by Heather Hall at  "SKETCH N SCRAP" as the basis of my layout.   I just got out my exacto knife and cut around some of the ice cream sundae on the paper and slipped part of the one picture behind it.   It worked good because it just hid a water bottle they had on the table with them.

Here is the link to  "SKETCH N SCRAP"  for the whole month of challenges and the sketch that I used for this one.   You have until March 31st at 9:55 CST to work with any of the two layout sketches and two card sketches they have for the month and a chance to win a great prize that DT member Stacy is giving away this month.

Land Run 100

My son-in-law Jason and his bicycling friends went from Missouri to Oklahoma over the weekend to participate in the 103.2 mile Land Run 100 competition.   On Saturday they had  the bike race of the full 100 mile course, a 50 mile course and a 50K run.    Jason came in #762 out or 1052 bikers.

I had a lot of pictures I wanted to use that he had been sending me over the weekend.   So I went
to "SCRAP YOUR STASH"   for March's Pick Your Side Sketch Challenge.     I went right to work
on the right side of the two sketches.     I got it all finished with the race pictures he had sent me and then today I got two more pictures from the end of the race, that the race promoters took for fun for all the racers with this prop out on the course.   So I looked at the left side of the two sketches and decided it would work perfect for these.  I just typed up some of the back story of this race and used it for my journaling along with one of the other pictures they had sent me of the race course on a bandana the riders had received and put that in the middle of the journaling.

The twist besides picking one of the two sides was to also use Washi Tape.  So I used some thin black washi tape with gold diagonal stripes.  On the left side I have a 12" strip running vertically to left of pictures and on the right side the same washi tape running horizontally below the 9 pictures.

Here is the link to the challenge at   "SCRAP YOUR STASH"  and the sketches to choose from or be like me and use them both.

Play-Doh Fun

Elle and I spent the morning coloring and then playing with Play-Doh while Mom and Dad went over to their new house to help on some of the remodeling work.    We had so much fun creating this morning.

I used Sketch #364 from "SKETCHES IN THYME" to make this layout.   I'll probably be saving this sketch for other layouts,  it works perfect for a series of pictures.

Here is the link to this challenge at  "SKETCHES IN THYME"  and check out all the weekly sketches for the month.      You have until March 31st to use this sketch or any or all of the monthly sketches.   I'm going to try and use them all this month.

Sunny Day Fun

A fun day for Avery and Dylan at Disney's Hollywood Studios in Orlando.

When making this layout I used the photo inspiration challenge #437 at  "LASTING MEMORIES"
The photo challenge was for  Floral Circles and Butterflies.    I used a circle cut file and then a full sheet of abstract floral paper behind it.   I also had a cut file of a sun the I put my title in, added a butterfly and a little journaling and my layout was complete.

Here is the link to the challenge and the photo inspiration at  "LASTING MEMORIES".

Double Pocket Card

This is the first double pocket card I have ever made.  I thought it would be hard but it was really easy.     I'm going to send this to my granddaughter (she is the front picture) and then on the tags are a picture of me and then her great grandfather, her Papa is her #1 special person.    I thought it would be a fun card for her to get in the mail.      She loves my cats and when I sent her Valentine card I included pictures of the cats inside and she had to have them on her wall so I think she will like these pictures too.   Maybe on her wall or just pull out and look at.

I'm going to enter this card in the challenge at   "USE YOUR STUFF"   Challenge #350 is Stitching: Real or Faux.    I did faux stitching around the two tags in the pockets.

Bath Time

I used the March single page sketch at  "STICK IT DOWN"  for this layout.    It was fun to work with and print 4 pictures in a size that would fit on a 4x6 piece of photo paper.   I think that worked out well and still got 4 pictures scrapped.

Here is the link to all March sketches, single page, double page and card for March at
"STICK IT DOWN" and the sketch below.

Sightseeing Escape

Still fast at work on my daughters vacation album to Belize,  they have another vacation planned in May so need to get last years album finished.   For this layout I used sketch #363 by Shawn Lahr at
"SKETCHES IN THYME"   I'm always happy when I get to use a PL style card on a layout.  My PL pages are usually picture heavy so I have plenty of cards to use in other ways.

Here is the link to the challenge at  "SKETCHES IN THYME"  and the sketch.

Jungle Fever

I've been working on some layouts for my daughters vacation album from their trip last July to Belize and I found three challenges that would work great together.

"LASTING MEMORIES"  Photo Inspiration #436 is  called Tropical Triangle.   The papers I have been using on the layouts for this trip works great with that photo with colors and patterns and then I wanted to find a sketch to use and the one  at  "LETS' GET SKETCHY" couldn't have worked out any better because the background design was basically made of different triangles.   Then there was a Pinspired challenge #171 at  "THE PAPER GIRLS CHALLENGE"   The picture was a geometric dress and that is what this layout is all about with the 3 big triangle shapes and then two pieces of my patterned paper too.

Here are the links and pictures.

My Green Friend

I just love these pictures of my 3 grandkids from St. Louis even with our oldest dressed up like Kermit.

I used the March Jump Start Sketch Challenge at  "THE SCRAP ROOM BLOG"   This is a sketch I'm keeping and will use again.

Here is the sketch and the link to  "THE SCRAP ROOM BLOG"

Go Snorkel

I'm finally getting some more layouts made for my daughter on their vacation last July to Belize, they have a new vacation coming up this May so I figured I better finish this last vacation before I start on the next.

I will enter this at  "SCRAP OUR STASH CHALLENGE BLOG"   The first of March they had their Saturday Cartoon Sketch Challenge.   Combine the sketch with the cartoon and the added twist of adding a green embellishment.      I used the sketch and then I went with the green color in the Snoopy carton and also some gold for the pot of gold in the cartoon.   For my green embellishment there is green on the top of the swim trunks and bathing suit and also a green life preserver.

Here is the link to this March challenge and the sketch at "SCRAP OUR STASH".   You have until 11:40 PST March 29th to enter this challenge.

Apple A Day

Got to spend the morning this week with my granddaughter after a quick overnight and I got some cute breakfast pictures of her, including when she decided she needed this apple after having her cereal and milk.     Apples or cheese sticks are her favorite treat.

I get to use this layout for 2 different challenges.     First off I used the sketch #172 from March 1st at
"SKETCH N SCRAP" and then the sketch was perfect for Challenge # 63 of create a layout using black and white plus red and a picture of yourself at  "CHALLENGE YOURSELF"

Here is the link to all the monthly challenges at  "SKETCH N SCRAP" and this first layout sketch.

Discover Belize

The middle couple are my daughter and son-in-law, they went on vacation last July to Belize with their best friends.    They had a blast and really loved all they did.   They went to ruins, into the jungle and also time on the beach.    It was a great week for all of them.    Plus a great week for me because I got to babysit with my 17 month old granddaughter and we had a blast.

I am entering this in the the two Scrappy Friends Challenges.

First I used the sketch at   "THROUGH THE EYES OF ROCHELLE SPEARS SCRAPBOOKING"    She always makes such fantastic  sketches to use and this March sketch is fantastic.

Next is "SCRAP WITH STACY"   and once again she has a great photo inspiration to us for March.
I was inspired with the outdoors feel, the greens in the background, just like the greens in the background of my picture and the papers I used and then the deep rich colors I matched in my handmade butterfly I have as an embellishments.

Here is the sketch :

Monster Truck Jam

The St. Louis family went to the Monster Truck Jam yesterday.   At first we had talked about getting tickets with them and going in for the whole weekend and going with them but then we got the forecast for both snow there and where we lived so we decided to stay in safe and warm.   But they made it out and had a great time.   So I made this layout today from the pictures they posted on Facebook.

I used the double page sketch for March at  "STICK IT DOWN"  worked out great for all but one car picture they had posted.

Here is the sketch and the link is above in the blog name.

KC Chiefs

I've been saving these pictures of Kansas City add decked out in red to help celebrate the KC Chiefs and their AFC playoff and championship games.   Unfortunately we didn't win the championship game that would have taken us to the Super Bowl this year but it wasn't for the lack of support from the hometown.

The March 1st sketch at  "LET'S SCRAP"  was perfect to use the pictures I had.     I don't live in KC now, but I did live there for over 25 years of my adult life and I love the city.   I live in central Missouri now so it is still easy for me to get back to KC and I do several times a year.

Here is the sketch that I used and also the link to  "LET'S SCRAP".   If you are looking for great double page sketches, this is where you should look.
