Dunns River Fall
My brother and I took a trip to Jamaica in Sept. 1997 and somehow when I left KC in 2001 I never got some of my pictures packed up and moved and this was some of them. But when visiting my brother last week I looked thru his old photo boxes and we found our trip pictures in the first box so he let me have them all so scrap. We took a road trip one day for an overnight in Kingston and stopped at Dunn River Falls. I was so happy to see this double page sketch at "Stick It Down" because I had just enough pictures to use them all to go with the sketch. I think I'll be doing more Jamaica layouts now for a few days now that I have the pictures after all these years. For this double layout I used papers from Jillibean Soup - Sightseeing Stew and a couple of PL cards to journal on and to put my title on. There is still a couple of days left to enter the challenge here so if you have some scrapping time this holiday weekend check out all the details HERE.
Cowgirl
One more great sketch to work with at the end of the month from "Stuck on U Sketches" but even though we are getting to the end of the month you have 12 days to check out the details HERE
and make your own layout. I like a sketch where I can use a die cut piece of paper. This was one I've just had sitting on my shelf ready to go. This is my granddaughter Addisyn and I think this was such a cute picture of her being a little cowgirl.

3rd Birthday
The die-cut challenge that is running at "Stuck On U Sketches" is called "Blow Out the Candles'
So I made this birthday card with a die cut cake and 3 candles to have ready for my grand-daughters 3rd birthday in a couple of months. Nothing like getting things done ahead of time. But this will be perfect for her. There is still a week left in the challenge so check it out HERE.
Masculine Birthday card
I always find it hard to make a masculine themed card and when I first saw this sketch #86
"Let's Capture Our Memories" I certainly didn't think about my card turning out to being a
masculine card. But the more scraps I pulled out of my stash everything started going toward darker colors and a masculine look. My son's birthday is coming up later in September so I think I'll put this card aside to send to him. So thanks for the inspiration. You can see the actual sketch below and check out the details for this challenge and all August challenges HERE, still a couple days to enter this one and other August ones on.
Sick Girl
It's not often I want to make a layout with a memory of a little girl not feeling good, but here it is.
My poor little granddaughter Mylan was just really under the weather when she got in town last
Christmas and was sick for a couple of days, but she is so precious sick or healthy I was taking pictures of her. I had these 2 pictures of her when she was laying down and was ready to take her medicine and then shortly afterwards when she was napping. When I saw this sketch for week 4 at "Let's Get Sketchy" I thought the sketch and pictures would work out great together.
I used an old collection of papers for this Echo Park - Sweet Threads. A flair button (the pkg is long since gone so don't know where its from) and 2 mini brads from Recollections.
You can see the sketch below and all the details for the challenge HERE, still have till midnight on the last day of August to enter.
Walking D.C.
This was such a fun sketch to work with. Sketch #LCOM86 at "Let's Capture Our Memories"
I just kept pulling out different papers from the Echo Park - Splendid Sunshine collection and moving them around and adding a bit her and there. I wasn't sure what I would do about the
circle embellishment on the sketch but then I looked at the B side of one of the papers and saw the different clouds and decided to fussy cut some of them and use that. I thought it would go well with my picture of the grandkids while they were in DC for my daughters wedding and they were out walking after dinner one night. Got it all put together and added the sun sticker that was also in the collection and my layout was finished. I've always loved this pic of the kids together and so glad I hadn't used it yet in a layout. I must have been waiting for this sketch. You can see it below and check out the details HERE.
Plaza Fountain
I ended up scrapping last night long enough to get this layout finished from Reveal #85 at
"Let's Capture Our Memories". I had made the card from the reveal in the afternoon and didn't think I would get to the layout. I was even able to find a film strip like the one in the sketch to use too. I've lived in Kansas City for so many years and passed this J.C. Nichols Memorial Fountain 100's of times. It's rather the key fountain in KC but I have never walked over to it and taken pictures. Finally after having lunch one day just a block away and looking at the fountain the whole time I went over and we got pictures. So glad I did, it is beautiful.
The sketch I used is below and just click HERE to check out the details and design team entries in full.

Love card
I love banners on my cards so I couldn't pass up this sketch challenge. It's from the #85 card reveal at "Let's Capture Our Memories". I just used up some scraps. A thin burgundy mat on my patterned paper background with a thin mat of the card back showing too, then the same burgundy for a banner flag and then a pink banner flag. I want to send a card to my daughter this weekend, a 'just because' card so I thought this Love sentiment stamp would be perfect. I love this die cut flower that I got in a swap years ago. I've been hoarding 4 of them but decided it was time to use one. The sketch is below and you can go HERE to see the full details. Still a bit over 3 days left to enter. I have my pictures printed to do the #85 layout too, but that probably won't happen till tomorrow. Hubby is calling for me to come watch the news with him so I guess my scrapping day is over. :(
Back to School
Challenge #62 at "The Paper Girls Challenge" was a design your own challenge. You had to pick three things from the checkerboard I have below and design your challenge, card, layout, project all for you to decide. I went with the 3x4 cards on a traditional layout. Include some Flair and use
3 or more photos. Just click HERE and read all the details on the challenge for yourself and also see what the design team came up with. There is still about 4 days to enter the challenge.
Good Luck to everyone.
This was really a design my own as all I had picked out was the pics of the boys and their first day of school yesterday down in Texas and the 3x3 Back to School PL card. Then I started looking around. I haven't used my Tim Holtz collection much so I looked thru it and found paper I liked.
Then I had to look for flair that would work with my subject. I found the "My Notes" flair and thought that would work but wanted to use some more so looked some more and found the A is for Apples flair and that was just what I needed. I didn't think the 3x4 card with so much color looked right just alone on the paper so I put it on a thin beige mat. Then decided to mat my other embellies, the clock I just did in a dark brown but the other two I double matted with beige and brown.
I have a combination of items and manufactures, sometimes a mixture will work just fine.
Tim Holtz - Idea-ology paper for background paper. I thought the ruler look paper looked good for a back to school page.
Tim Holts - Idea-ology Stickers The multiplication table, clock and August calendar are all from that collection.
Becky Higgins Project Life Holiday edition for the 3x4 card
Fancy Pants - Trend Setter Flair - the "My Notes" flair button between the pictures.
October Afternoon - Farm Girl Flair - the A is for Apples flair on my PL card

Me at 63
Well this was a challenge that I wasn't sure about when I first read about it early in the month. The August challenge at "Scrap Yourself Challenges" was to 'Celebrate Your Age' But I put it aside to think about and then it came to me. Every time I come home from the hairdresser I take a picture of myself on Photo Booth on my IMac because I'm usually changing my hair color a bit and cutting my hair. This year at the age of 63 I've had long hair and short hair. light brown and a medium brown. Right now I'm at short length and medium brown color. I'm happy with the color but oh so ready for my hair to start growing again. Much happier with more length. So I decided to go for it and print a picture each way and scrap that. I used the Kathy Davis - Butterfly's Promise collection because my favorite colors are yellow and green and I got them both on my background sheet and the one other piece I added at the top. Plus I loved the quote at the bottom of the page. Create a Life you Love. I think at this place in my life I'm very happy with myself and my life so the quote was perfect. You have until September 3rd to do this challenge and I encourage everyone to give it a try. If you are like most scrappers you concentrate on everyone else in your family for your layouts and forget yourself. So here is the chance to showcase YOU. Read all about the challenge HERE.
Handsome
I've been wanting to use this months sketch at the Boy's Rule blog but just wasn't sure what picture I wanted to use. I was looking through my daughter's wedding pictures again the other day to see what I still needed to scrap and came across this picture of my grandsons. Kai was the ring bearer and Koda handed out the programs. I had already made a wedding themed layout but decided to print the picture again and make a totally different layout for the ongoing album for the boys. I went with browns and coppers from the DCWV Serenity Stack for my paper choices. There are still a couple of days to play along so check out all the details HERE and I have the sketch below.

Sweetheart
Our grand-daughter Dylan Macie was born June 10th but we've only gotten a few pics of her. So its fun to scrap the ones I do get. I have lots of leftover pink baby paper left from when her big sister was born just 2 1/2 years ago. This is just one of the newborn photo shoot pics they had taken by a professional photographer. I used the sketch for August Week 2 at "Let's Get Sketchy" for this layout. I just made a few changes. I didn't want to journal on it and I wanted a bigger picture so I printed the pic at 4.5 x 5.5 and kept a bit of the white border. I used a 3D chipboard embellishment that says "sweetheart" for my title and added a strip of baby word paper and then a misc baby border embellie at the bottom. A couple of rhinestone teardrop brads and a big doily and my layout was complete. I have the sketch I used below and you can read all the details HERE and see this challenge and then check out the other August challenges too.
BFF
I got to catch up last Friday night with my best friend from high school. My brothers band was playing at a festival in our hometown so it was a night of fun and getting together with old friends who still live there or close by. I hadn't seen my best friend all thru high school in at least 6 years so it was great to spend several hours with here and partying together one more time.
I used the sketch at "Stick it Down" to make this layout. I had this single piece of Fancy Pants - The Good Life paper left and used it for my background. then where I knew my pictures would be on the page I just cut out a couple of the circles that were on the paper and then fussy cut them. I matted my pictures in black and then had a rectangle scrap of black and white paper, matted it in black and then in white. I used the circles for my journaling and cut the small one in half and put on the edge of my matted paper and then for the larger one I used pop-dots so it would have some dimension against the other black and white paper. Black Thickers for my title and my layout is complete. You can see the sketch below and click HERE for the details on this challenge.
My online scrappy friend Sandi (and we get to meet in person in October ---- YEAH) told me about the challenge at the "Paper Issues" blog. I will be entering my layout there too as there is still a few days left to enter. The challenge there is Admit One and to use Fancy Pants products on your page.
Well my BFF and I were admitted to the fun night at the Soybean Festival in our hometown of Mexico, MO and I used the Fancy Pants - The Good Life collection for my layout, even using part of the paper I used to make my own embellishments. The challenge here is for a great prize of the Fancy Pants collection "Everyday Circus". Who wouldn't like to win that great collection to play with. So check out all the details HERE.
Week 32 PL pages
I just had a couple of pictures to add and then do my journal strips for my week 32 PL pages. I was out of town all last week or the pages would have already been finished plus it was a sad week with the lose of Robin Williams, I was really struggling with that and wanted to do some journaling about it after I had time to let it all sink in. So I was glad I got to work in the PL challenge that was announced today at "Stuck On U Sketches" - Use Twine on your PL pages. So I pulled out some Bakers Twine and used it on my Filler cards, Journal Card and my Title Card. You can see the details for the challenge HERE and also the great work from the Design Team at Stuck on U for the challenge. I have some close up shots below of the twine on my cards.
School Visit
It was play with browns morning today. I used the sketch at "Stuck?! Sketches" from the Aug. 1st challenge, seems I'm working backwards as I already did the sketch from the 15th. I'm also entering this in the "Lasting Memories" Going back to School-Numbers/Alphas challenge. This is why I went with all the browns. I had this background number paper pulled out just for this challenge but didn't have a sketch I wanted to use, so i looked thru all my sketches I still wanted to use this month and viola, I found the perfect one. I just pulled out my supply of misc pieces of brown paper that I had all clipped together as they weren't from collections, just individual pieces I had picked up. I have the sketch below to see but to get all the full details at Stuck?! Sketches just click HERE and to see all the details on the challenge #204 at Lasting Memories click HERE.

Remember Good Times
As soon as I saw this sketch at "The Memory Nest" I immediately thought PL cards. So today I started looking through cards to see what I could use as a title. I really wanted to also use a Bingo card. I had one that said Road Trip and I knew I could find something for that but it was an Orange colored one and I wasn't coming up with any PL cards to go with it that said anything. So I pulled out the Remember bingo card and found the Good Times PL card immediately and knew exactly what I would do. In July we took a road trip to Michigan and on part of the trip stopped at Boyne Mountain, MI where Dad and Mom spent many winter skiing vacations. So I picked these two pictures and printed them 3x4 to go with the PL card size. One of Dad in front of the Snowflake Lounge where they went every night after skiing and dinner. Then also one at the top of the mountain where Dad and my brother Bruce were looking at the map of ski slopes and Dad was telling us about slopes were in use then and that he skied on. So "Remember --- Good Times" was perfect.
Even though we were there in the summer I used an old winter paper collection. Bo Bunny-Snowy Serenade. I have the sketch here below for you to see and then you can click HERE to read more about the details of the challenge and other challenges at "The Memory Nest" this month.
Since I'm still filling in my vacation albums from various trips over the year, this vacation layout will also work great with the challenge #205 just announced today at "Lasting Memories Layout Challenges" This week they are focusing on Vacation Memories. So this was perfect for me because I will always have this memory of being able to take Dad back to where he had such great times about 60 years ago. There is still time to enter this challenge and the other 3 challenges for the month of August at Lasting Memories, check out the details HERE on this one and then look at older posts for any others you want to enter this month. There are some great ones.
Great Dinner
I was going through old pictures the other day that I had never scrapped. I came across this one of Addisyn. It's not that old at all but for some reason I never did scrap it. I love this smile on her face. The title came from the food stains on her cheeks, lips and hand. It looks like this dinner might have been spagetti. I used the Week 3 sketch at Let's Get Sketchy. Then to go with here green outfit I went to my favorite green paper collection which is Authentique - Loyal.
I have this sketch to see below and you can check out all the details for the challenge HERE.
Mylan & breakfast
Once again getting some awesome pictures from FB. Mylan had a breakfast date with her Dad two weeks ago. Susan had posted the first picture after Mylan was up and showered and ready for the day and then Jason posted the next 2 pictures an hour later when they went out for their one on one breakfast time. She said she likes her coffee black and then chocolate sauce on her pancakes, the perfect breakfast. :) It 3 picture sketch at Sketch-n-Scrap blog was perfect for this set of pictures.
I printed the sketch and pictures and had them clipped together so that I could make this layout as soon as I got home this weekend from being gone for a full week. So this is my first scrappy project of the day. You can read about all of the Sketch-n-Scrap challenges and the DT inspiration for everything HERE and then I have the sketch below.
For this layout I used all papers from Echo Park - This and That collection. All my edges are inked with green Stampabilities pigment ink. My banner title is from Momenta, I love these banner alphas and then the 2 flair buttons are from Fancy Pants - Trend Setter collection.

Aloha
Still have a few more Hawaii vacation layouts to make. This is Dad and Bruce in front of the house we rented. The double door went into the courtyard that led to the main house. I got a bunch of free pics developed at Shutterfly and these just didn't come back well, I think they all look muted but oh well they were free. For this layout I used the sketch-y Friday sketch at Scrap Much? blog
I had to rotate it to use 3 horizontal pics but I like how it turned out. You can see the sketch below and check out the challenge details HERE.
Outdoor Adventure
Bryce was out of town most of the summer with his grandparents in Las Vegas while the rest of the family got moved into their new house. So when he got home a few weeks ago he just got to explore all the yard and places to play.
I used the mid month sketch at Stuck on U Sketches and I just loved it. I like the use of part of a die cut page and then all the other patterns I got to use with it. Other than the Pink Paislee die cut I used the Simple Stories - Take a Hike collection. You can see the actual sketch below and check out all the details HERE.
Bryce & Violin
Bryce is all excited that he gets to take violin lessons in school this year. So here he is on the first day to take his violin to school. I use sketch #275 at Creative Scrappers for this layout and I really like the look of it. This is another sketch I'll be keeping to use again. You can see the sketch below and then check out all the details of the challenge HERE.
Oh Boy
I had trouble sleeping last night again so just got up and did a lot of scrapping. I had some pictures of the grands on hubbys side that I wanted to get scrapped and be able to take to them when we see them Wed. night. I have already given all the kids big filled albums to the parents last year so I had more I've made since then that I take to them after I get a small stack together.
I just love this picture of Gibson, his Mom took it just to show how much his hair stands up when he gets up in the morning, but I just love the expression. For this layout I used the sketch at
The Memory Nest blog and a variety of papers from different collections. Sorry I can't list but since I made this last night I have put everything away and I slept a tad so memory is gone. LOL
The sketch is below and you can read more about the challenge HERE.

Furry Friend
I just love these smiley faces, my grand-daughter Mylan and my daughter (her aunt) Leslie.
This was taken in May when everyone was in DC for Leslie's wedding. The grandkids had heard all about Jacko, Leslie's pet guinea pig and even seen pictures and such but never got to see him in person and hold and play with him. They definitely had fun with him. I have pictures of Kai with Jacko too that I'll have to scrap soon. But glad I finally got these scrapped.
Ii used the sketch below which is the mid month sketch at PAPER SECRETS I got the layout from the first of the month challenge made last night and blogged about it earlier today and then today finished this layout. I've been a scrapping and blogging fool today. But this is the best way to spend Saturday in my mind. :)
Besides the sketch for the challenge it is also a word challenge and the word is CAMP
These are the elements I used for these letters.
C=Cardstock, A=Alphas M=Matted P=Patterned Paper
I used the bright pink card stock that matched Mylans pants for my background, my title is the Alphas, I matted the paper behind the pictures and I used 3 different patterned papers on the layout.
2014 Flowers
I LOVED making this layout. Our flowers this year turned out so great. I even called my hubby in to look while I was looking at pictures to print, I had a picture of the day we planted the 3 mixed pots in the left picture and then the one that I took last week that I used in the layout. It was amazing to see the difference and how much they had grown over the summer.
As soon as I saw the sketch for the mid month challenge at Stuck?! Sketches I knew that it would be flower pictures that I would be using for my layout. So this morning I went right to work on it.
I've never made a layout with an arrangement of pictures like this but I really really like the look.
You can check out the sketch below and also all the details on this challenge HERE, and also read about their great prize for the month.
Plus while I was deciding on papers and such to use. I also had in mind the challenge I had seen posted on Friday at Frosted Designs to use Chevrons on my layout. So I decided on Basic Grey - PB&J collection. It was still out on my desk from a layout I made last night and I knew it had chevron papers in it. Obviously my background paper is chevron, but also the one pale yellow-green banner paper is very tiny chevrons. Check out the details on the challenge HERE, they have a great prize this month.
First Day of School
David and Nikki moved to a new house in Chesterfield over the summer and now the boys are going to a new school. This was pictures of them on the first day of school this last week. I can't believe schools are already starting again. What happened to the old days when I was in school and you didn't start until after Labor Day. I'm going to enter this layout in the challenge at
"Bitten by the Bug 2" the Aug 11th challenge is Back to School and to use a cricut cut apple.
I pulled out my Locker Talk cartridge and cut out my First Day of School title that has an apple on it.
I already had the apple I have added to the layout at the top right that I used for a little bit of journaling. I got it in a swap so not sure what cartridge was used. This was a fun challenge and I'm sure a lot of you will have back to school pictures to scrap so check out the challenge details HERE
