Building a Nativity

I used this set of pictures of my granddaughter putting together a nativity kit her other grandparents sent her.    She was very happy with the star that went on top of the manager scene because it also went well with her princess outfit she had put on this Saturday morning over her pajamas.

I'm entering this layout at "SOUL-SCRAPPERS"  for their Tic-Tac-Toe challenge TTT65.    I chose the middle row down   Red/White/Green color scheme,   Christmas Theme and Snowflakes.

Christmas Joy 1954

My brother and I found a lot of old slides at our Dad's house and we took them home and scanned them so we could print the pictures.   A lot of them of us when we were little.    I have numerous Christmas scrapbook albums that I keep chronologically.   So it is great to have some of these older pictures to use in layouts and add to my album.

I'm entering this layout at  "SOUL-SCRAPPERS"  for their December GD challenge.   Thank you Shazza for the challenge to do a Christmas themed layout.

Christmas at Grandmas

I'm loving scrapping all the old Christmas pictures I've found of me back in the days.    This I'm guess was 1957 and we were having Christmas at my Grandparents house with everyone going there to celebrate.   Thats me helping put the presents out under the tree and then standing by the mantle saying a little prayer it seems.  I have no idea what i was praying about standing there unless it was to Santa to be sure and find me there.  LOL

I'm entering this in the final challenge of the year #84 at  "CHALLENGE YOURSELF"

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE.

Advent Stocking Tree

We are being safe while visiting so when I went over with a new ornament for my granddaughter for this year and some Christmas books to have early we all wore our masks.      She was happy to show me her advent stocking tree Mom had sat up just a few days ago.   I had gifted them the mini trees and wooden Santa last year for decorations for the first Christmas in their own home.   On Elle's first Christmas her other grandmother made 25 little stockings all numbered and then every year she sends a little box of small surprises to go in for each day.   Elle just loves it and looks forward to a new stocking every morning.    I just loved seeing it all together like it was this year.

I was inspired by sketch for Challenge #448 at  "SKETCHES IN THYME"   this is my take on it.    I did some major fussy cutting of the wreath from a piece of patterned paper and then used several pop dots under in on tope of this plaid and also added some red jewels to the holly berries.

Oh Christmas Tree

We have three trees decorated and up this year.    I figure 2020 needs some extra cheer.    The middle picture is our main tree in our family room.   Then on the left is a smaller tree on the end table also in the family room.    This is my favorite tree because I bought it on clearance at Michaels years ago, it came with the lights and all these great misc. ornaments and bows on it.   I just throw a plastic bag in storage each year.   But get this, it only cost me $29.   I keep hoping I'll find another great deal like that but I never have, but I keep looking.   Then my other small tree is on the buffet in the dining room.

I made this layout for the Anything Goes challenge at  "LASTING MEMORIES"   its the last challenge here for 2020.   I hope you join in on this challenge and the other two from earlier in the month.   You have until 6:00 pm EST Saturday, January 2nd.      I've loved being a Guest Designer for December.

Merry Christmas everyone.

Happy Boy

I'm trying to finish up an album for my Brother for Christmas of pictures of his grandsons in Australia.   I have been collecting all I can of recent ones from FaceBook and Instagram.   He hasn't been able to go over and visit since late October 2019 because of COVI, this one was 3 weeks old and now he has had his 1st birthday.

I used the Nov. 29th challenge = Scraplift the DT at   "THE STUDIO CHALLENGES"     I love using banners and being able to use a lot of patterns together so scrap lifted Rainny which was one of the samples.

Christmas 1951

While we were cleaning out my Dad and Mom's house we found some old slides that were there from the "olden days"   This was at my maternal grandparents house and my first Christmas in 1951.   I was 8 1/2 months old.   I was so happy to find this slide and convert it into a picture.   I keep all my Christmas layouts in chronological order starting back in 1951 with the photo Christmas card my parents sent out that year with the 3 of us.   I now have 6 full 3D binders full of Christmas layouts up to date.   But I also discovered I get to go back to 1947 as I also found a photo of my Mom and Grandmother from that year.

I'm missing some Christmas during my teen years that I haven't found pictures for yet, but there are still more to go through at Mom and Dads house.

I'm one of the Guest Designers this month at  "LASTING MEMORIES"  and this layout is for the December 6th 'Word Play Challenge'     Your challenge is to use a scrappy item, theme, or technique for every letter in the words  "LIGHTS"     Here is what I did.

L = Layers (It triple matted my photo)

I =  Ink (I inked white mat on photo and my journaling square), Imaginesc background paper and Icicles on the tree in the photo

G = Green, Gold and Glitter (on some of the papers at the top)

H = Holiday theme and Holly

T = Tree and Two Tags

S = Sticker (my tree embellishments), Snowflake and Stars

Eat, Drink and Be Merry !

It's that time of year and I'm starting making some Christmas layouts for this years Christmas album.    I have always loved collecting coffee mugs from travel, but for lack of storage space in the kitchen I have gotten rid of a lot of mugs.   But my Christmas mugs are alway in the cabinet and ready to get out and use for the entire season.   A few years ago I found this kitchen them Santa and added it to my Santa collection so that I could add a few things in the kitchen at Christmas for decorating for the season.     Today I got out my mugs, and hung my Christmas dish towel on the rack and my kitchen is ready for Christmas.    I should probably bake something to add to go with my coffee or hot chocolate but that will have to wait.

I'm entering this at two different challenges, USE YOUR STUFF & LASTING MEMORIES.

First I used the mood board at "USE YOUR STUFF"   I loved this great seasonal mood board and I was inspired by the red, green and cold color swatches and the the picture of the cup of hot cocoa.

Next I played along with the Pick 3 challenge at "LASTING MEMORIES" where I am also a guest design team member for the month.   I actually picked 4 items, a Doily, the color Green, the color Gold and a Tag.

LM #526 - Mixed Bag - Pick 3

OUTSIDE TURKEY

This is going to be the year of inflatables for my granddaughter.   They had one big dragon up for Halloween, now Tom the Turkey for Thanksgiving and my brother is passing on a lot of inflatables for Christmas.   So I'm sure there will be a couple different ones for sure if not more.

I was asked to be a Guest Designer at   "LASTING MEMORIES"  for the December challenges.   For this first challenges starting today is Pick 3.     You can use more than 3 and anything else you want but be sure and include 3 from the following list on your layout.

DOILY
HEART
FLOWER
THE COLOR GOLD
THE COLOR GREEN
WASHI TAPE
TAG
CIRCLE
CHIPBOARD

Being Safe

I wanted to enter the Nov. 1st challenge to use Hexagons at  "THE STUDIO CHALLENGES"  so I used this hexagon cut-file.   I got it all cut and put it on a piece of white card stock.   I always pick my pictures first to use in a layout and then go the design and papers but I had no idea what picture to use now.   So I looked through some of the pictures I already had printed and found this picture of my granddaughter hiding in the dog cage.    Her Mom sent it to me saying that they turned around and saw her in there and asked her why she was sitting there.   She said she was hiding from the dogs so they would leave her alone while she had her snacks.    So I though that the hexagon cut file could semi look like a cage and I went with that picture to scrap.

Christmas 1956

I found some slides my Grandmother had kept and we scanned them and I was able to print as photos.   Of course I was thrilled to find some pictures from when my brother and I were young at Christmas.   I'm guessing this is 1956, my brother would be 3 in 2 months and I would be 5 1/2 at this time.     I can also see a little bit of my Mom sitting at the dining room table and also both of my grandmothers.   That's my Dad on the floor and even though only his arm is showing that is my paternal grandfather sitting on the couch as he always wore a white shirt and my other grandfather was always the photographer.

I'm entering this at "CHALLENGE YOURSELF"   I was inspired by the gold in the mood board and that goes with my gold stars in my background paper.

This month, we are asking you to use the "Home for the Holidays" mood board
. And it doesn't have to be about Christmas . . . you get to pick the holiday you would to scrap about.

Retro Ornaments

I made this layout for the Nov. 15th challenge at "SCRAP YOUR STASH",   The challenge was to use the sketch and include watercolor papers and chipboard.   I used all watercolor papers and then added to chipboard ornaments.    I'm glad I decided to use all watercolor papers and combine the colors.

FALL

The house next door to my Dads always has seasonal flowers and decorations all over their front yard.   This is what it looked like in early October and I got a few pictures of my granddaughter there in all the fall color.

I used the Color Color Inspiration #3 at  "LASTING MEMORIES" for this layout.

Happy Birthday Mylan

This is my oldest granddaughter, Mylan.   She turned 11 earlier this month and this surprise is what her Mom had ready for her the morning of here birthday.  Special donuts.

I sued sketch #213 at   "SKETCH N SCRAP"   to make this layout.   I changed it about with using a large cut-file at the top for a title.    It's a great sketch to work with and I'll be using it again I'm sure.

Check out all this months challenges here at  "SKETCH N SCRAP".    Here is the sketch below.

Thanksgiving Card

We have decided not to get together this Thanksgiving as we usually do and just save our big family get together until Christmas.   We are just going to be safe and social distance at Thanksgiving and get together with some portal calls and everything.

So I made this card to send to my son and his family.    I still have to make one for my daughter and her family and that will probably be all I do this year.

I combined two challenges for this card.

First Sketch #461 at   "FRESHLY MADE SKETCHES"    It was so simple and easy to work with.

Next I used this prompt from today at   "THE SISTERHOOD OF CRAFTERS"   I haven't embossed much lately but I got out two different embossing folders for this card.

Embossing

 Hello Friends & Welcome Back
to another fun challenge here at the Sisterhood of Crafters!

Today's fun challenge theme is:

    EMBOSSING
(wet or dry)

Hello Fall

Went with a different design for this layout by using triangles in different colors.   I was trying to pull the colors from the  "LASTING MEMORIES"  Challenge #523 Photo/Color Inspiration #2

Love You

My daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter went out this weekend and had some family pictures taken.  This was one of my favorites of the three of them so I went right to work on a layout using the picture.   I combined fall papers and fall color palette for this layout.   Even though they were lucky and it was in the 70's this weekend in central Missouri.   Got to love a late Indian Summer.

I used the color palette challenge #211 at  "THE PAPER GIRLS CHALLENGE"

Halloween Outing

One last family group Halloween page finished.  Had so many picture from our St. Louis family it became a two page layout.

I used the double page sketch at   "STICK IT DOWN"   for this layout.   I haven't used a double page sketch in awhile but this one was perfect for all of the pictures I had of everyone.

I also used the color scheme at  "THE PAPER GIRLS"    I so love this color palette.

Homecoming

I can't believe it, our oldest grandson is almost 16 and went to Homecoming this year with his beautiful date.     He can't be that old.   It wasn't that long ago I was going to Homecoming.   LOL

I went the the double "Scrappy Friends"  challenge for this layout.   I always love this combo challenge.

I started with the sketch at  "THROUGH THE EYES OF ROCHELLE SPEARS"  and then the November Tic-Tac-Toe challenge at  "SCRAP WITH STACY"  I used the middle row Wood, Arrows, 2 Photos.        On my layout I have 2 wood veneer embellishments and one of them is an arrow, the the black strip has a gold arrow on it plus I used a white gel pen for some mini arrows pointing to the pictures.

Here are the links....."THROUGH THE EYES OF ROCHELLE SPEARS"

Fall Greeting Card

I made this card this morning for the Color challenge #618 at  "THE COLOR THROWDOWN"

Hello there! It's Lynn here and I’m your hostess for this week's Color Throwdown Challenge #618!  I chose some fall colors for all of us to create with and I hope you'll like creating with the colors GreenBrownOrange and Red for this week's challenge and I hope they inspire you to create something special. We are using generic colors, so as long as you use the color values shown, you are all set! As always, please feel free to incorporate any neutrals that you need in your design as well!

Carve the Pumpkin

My granddaughter Elle wants to be involved in everything going on.   So she helped with everything including cleaning out all the seeds from the pumpkin she was going to carve with Dad.   I think she might have enjoyed the messy clean out as much as she enjoyed carving the pumpkin.

I sued Sketch #212 at  "SKETCH N SCRAP"  for this layout.

Warm Greetings

Last night was an image coloring night for me while I watched the election returns.   This image I did to make a card for  the  "SHOPPING OUR STASH"  challenge.

So Very Thankful

I love these awesome family pictures from our son and daughter in law and grands in St. Louis.

They went out during the day on Halloween to take these family photos.    They really looked like they were having so much fun and got some great pictures at the same time.

I used the November 'Thankful' challenge at  "SCRAP OUR STASH".    It was perfect for scrapping these pictures because I am so very thankful for our family and to have these great family photos.  I used a beige doily also on my layout and I just cut one in half and used half at the top and the other half at the bottom of the layout.

Carve and Create

These are our two granddaughters in Orlando (thus the shorts) and they were busy creating and decorating their pumpkin stack to take to the big neighborhood Halloween party for part of the decorations.

I used the sketch at  "SKETCHES IN THYME"  sketch #443, it fit perfectly with the 3 pictures I had.

Above is the link and here is this weeks sketch.

I was also inspired by the Challenge #409 at  "USE YOUR STUFF"   My background paper is perfect for the challenge of  STRIPES.

STRIPES #409

We are going pattern this week people!  Bring out your STRIPES!

We want you to incorporate stripes somewhere on your project...maybe your paper, an embellishment, maybe it's in a photo for a layout...if you are stripey we want to see it!

Christmas card time

I wasn't going to do any scrapping today.   I had to catch up on a PL page and that was going to be it.
But then I saw the latest World Card Making Day Sketch #5 at  "SKETCH N SCRAP"  and I decided I wanted to work on it immediately.   I got out a new Christmas paper pad and went to work on it.

Here is the sketch and link to  "SKETCH N SCRAP"

Two Christmas cards

The Halloween cards are finished mailed and received by all the grandkids and family members so today I thought I would make a few Christmas cards to add to what I made during Christmas in July.   I'm going to need a lot more of them than any other holiday.     Next week I'll probably switch to the few Thanksgiving cards I will send out but for now I felt like Christmas.   I mean we did have a little snow earlier this week so I'm in the mood.

I used the World Card Day Month sketch #4 at  "SKETCH N SCRAP"  for the card on the right.

It's  been so fun playing along with all their card sketches this month.

Here is the sketch and link to  "SKETCH N SCRAP".

FALL CLEAN-UP

This was a fun sketch to work with from "SCRAP OUR STASH".   This is my 2nd time using it since it came out in the challenge on the 15th of the month.   First time I didn't use papers or alphas to go with the challenge.  So now I have all the elements covered.    I used two different  Fall leaf paper and then I have mixed alphas with my title.   Large chipboard alphas for Fall and tiny mini stickers for Clean up.   Plus for a little extra I decided to add some twine to may layout with a single simple wood veneer leaf for a simple embellishment.

Here is the sketch and the link to  "SCRAP OUR STASH" .
