Fun Day

Both sets of my step kids and grands went on Spring Break Cruises.   My Orlando family went on a Disney Cruise.   These pictures are from their stop in Jamaica for the day.    It looks like they were having lots of fun on this days excursion.

I'm going to enter this at  "USE YOUR STUFF"   I did another travel layout for the challenge yesterday of my St. Louis family and a couple of their cruise pictures.   Between the two families I have enough to keep me busy for awhile.

Here is the link and info for  Challenge #305 at   "USE YOUR STUFF"

Sail Away

The challenge this week at  "USE YOUR STUFF"  is travel.   My grandkids just got back from a cruise to Nassau so this challenge was perfect to scrap some of the pictures they sent me.

The paper and the saying on the bottom right came from a newer collection stack I have and hadn't used any of it yet.   The anchors I got in a prize pkg from a scrappy friend and have been waiting for the right layout to use them on.   The dolly is from my stash of many different color ones I keep for layouts.   The title is from my stash and no telling how long I've had it.  The ship sticker was the very last sticker I had on one sheet of vacation stickers.

Here is the link to  "USE YOUR STUFF"   and more information about the challenge.

A February PL page

The last challenge in March at "LASTING MEMORIES" is for Red Cross Month.

- Either create a layout that has a Red/White color scheme (can have the plus signs that have been popular lately, too) or if you ever did anything or received anything for the Red Cross - tell us about it.-

I decided to make this Project Life page using all red papers and then white paper to type my comments for each picture.

I hope you have had as much fun this month as I have playing along with the challenges here.
You still have time to enter any or all of them for the month.   Enjoy.

First day of Spring

I made this 4x6 card for this weeks Project Life page.   I used the sketch #98 at "SKETCHES IN THYME PROJECT LIFE STYLE"   It was so fun putting all these little Springtime elements together to make my title card for the page.   Since my whole page was going to be about what we have been doing this week with the arrival of Spring (at least by date) we are still having some cold nights and grey days.   But non the less we are keeping busy with Spring cleaning around the house and cleaning our closet out from winter to summer clothes.  Plus we planted shrubs and roses to the back of the house to give it a more finished look and some color.   Going to take a couple of years for everything to grow a little taller and fuller but it already makes a major difference.  Then we cleaned out the pond around the fountain and set it back up to run again.   My best thing is that for the first time I'm going to grow some fresh herbs,  after I put them out in the hangers I realized I had room for two more pots.   Plus last night I made homemade tomato sauce for our pasta and I used some of the fresh oregano and basil in it.   I love the smell of fresh herbs plus the taste.

I am also going to enter this card at "SCRAPPING 4 FUN CHALLENGES" Their challenge running right now #111 is - Anything Goes with Flowers.   So since I have my flower garden across my picket fence on the card I thought this worked great for the challenge.

Here are the links for the challenges and the sketch I used

Karaoke

I went about this layout today in a totally different way than I usually do.   I had the sketch #315 from
"SKETCHES IN THYME" and I had printed the pictures last night to use with it, but that was as far as my planning went.     I decided I was only going to use one piece of patterned paper so I went looking for paper that might pull the colors of the stage lighting out from the pictures.   That in itself wasn't an easy task.   Then looking at the sketch I new I needed a couple of circle elements but I didn't just want to draw them on and I had had already decided not to mix any more patterns with my background paper, so I pulled out the two beige doilies and laid them out with the pictures.  Was just going to go with that but decided they needed something else so got two pink doilies out and just fussy cut the center out and put them on top to make a 2 color accent.   I new I had some banner type letters 'somewhere' so started looking for them and was glad to see they were beige too.   So I made my title into a banner and added two rows of bakes town in a pink and purple pattern to make the banner.  Then I was going to journal in the center like the sketch showed but......with the alphas I
used there were also these mini word stickers, so I went through them and picked out what I thought went with the mood of the pictures.....the fun time my two grandkids were having at karaoke night on their cruise ship.   I wish you could make a layout using a video because I have one of them signing, it is really great.   There is no way I would do karaoke and thought it was great this 5 and 6 year old did.   Their Mom said when they started they just jumped up to be first to join in the fun.

Here is the sketch and the link to  "SKETCHES IN THYME"  you have till the 31st to try this sketch or any of the weekly sketches for March.

Ship Fun

My St. Louis grand-kids just got back from their Spring Break family vacation yesterday.   They went on a Cruise to Nassau and from the pictures I've seen it looks like they had a great time both out on excursions and on board the ship.

I used Sketch #317 from  "SKETCHES IN THYME"  for this layout.   I really pulled out a bunch
of different papers and elements from different collections and from scraps to use on this layout
and it was a lot of fun.

Here is the sketch and the link to  "SKETCHES IN THYME"

Let's Eat Christmas Dinner

I seem to take a lot of food pictures and make layouts including food.   So this weeks challenge at
"LASTING MEMORIES"  was perfect for me.    When I started thinking about ideas of what to do for my layout I remembered that I hadn't made my Christmas dinner layout yet.   I had a lot of pictures to choose from so I decided to print them all in a small size and use them all on my layout.
I'm happy with how it turned out.

The challenge this week at  "LASTING MEMORIES" is .........
National Frozen Food Month & National Nutrition Month - Create a foodie layout. Can have food in the photos, in the paper, or in the embellishments.

Beauty in London

I'm really enjoying filling in my London vacation scrapbook with a lot more layouts.    It's been my main focus these last several days.   We took this vacation back in 2006 so was just before I started scrapping so I hadn't done a lot of layouts at least not a lot of layouts that I like.   My style is simple but looking back on the first layouts I made simple now is fancy compared to then.   LOL

I used the sketch from March 15th at   "STUCK ?! SKETCHES"   I really enjoyed this sketch and matting my  pictures 4 times,  3 with card stock and then last bigger mat with patterned paper.  Plus this is he first time I've ever used any netting on my layout.  I got this in a prize package from a friend and I'm going to have to find out where she got it so I can use it more often,   I love the soft look to it.

Here is the sketch and the link to  "STUCK ?! SKETCHES"    As usual they have two great sketches this month to use.

On Our Way to Amsterdam.

This was a fun challenge at  "SCRAP OUR STASH"     I didn't try it last month this month I decided I really wanted to give it a try.       Here is the challenge and what you had to do and then I'll tell you my  take on the challenge.

My take of the challenge was to mostly go with the main elements of the sketch on the right but then from the left sketch I used the two pictures and then I pulled the circle element in the left sketch for my pictures and cut them in circles.   For the frame element of the challenge I used two acetate overlays to frame my two round pictures.

Check out the challenge at   "SCRAP OUR STASH CHALLENGE BLOG"

Planes, Trains & More

The March 15th sketch at  "LET'S GET SKETCHY"  worked out perfect to use these miscellaneous pictures of some of our modes of transpiration while on vacation in London and Amsterdam.
We were on planes going there and then on a plane from London to Paris to get on a train to go to Brussels,  we loved the boat rides along the waterways of Amsterdam,  we took trams and buses too and once a taxi.  We even rented a card to drive to Stonehenge and area one day,  that was quite the experience there were 6 adults in a car that at best held 4 comfortable, but we made it work.

Here is the sketch and the link to the challenge at  "LET'S GET SKETCHY"

Eating Tapas

I used the sketch #149 at  "SKETCH N SCRAP"  to make this layout.  I spent yesterday making layouts to fill in my album from our 2006 vacation to London and Amsterdam.    I made this layout because this was probably the best place we ate, a tapas place in Oxford.   Other than this we weren't impressed with the food much.

Arriving in London

I've spent several days this week scrapping pictures from our family vacation to London and Amsterdam back in 2006.   This layout I put together with the Scrapbook Bingo challenge at
"CHALLENGE YOURSELF" for March.

These are pictures I took on our trip from airport to the hotel, tram, train and walking.  I have two pictures of me, which is always part of the challenge,  top left and my back in bottom right.
Then I went with the middle row across the Scrap Bingo card.   I have  six buttons as my embellishments and then washi tap,  two strips of this awesome travel style washi tape I had in my stash.

Here is the link to  "CHALLENGE YOURSELF"   and the Scrap Bingo card.

Explore London

I checked out the new March 15th sketch at "LET'S SKETCH" this morning and this has pretty much been my project for the day working on this double page layout.

One of my goals this year was to go back to old vacation albums and see what pictures I hadn't scrapped and fill in the album.   So that means I also get to enter this double page layout at
"THE PAPER GIRLS CHALLENGE"  This trip was back in 2006 and a good year before I started scrapping so a lot of the pages I did early on and I totally had no idea what I was doing, so it has been fun going back and filling in these pages.    So this double page let me really incorporate a lot of different pictures I took during a couple of days of walking around London.

Here is the link to  "LET'S SKETCH"  challenge and the sketch.

Another Easter Card

I've had fun today using my embossing folders again and stamping images and sentiments.   I didn't make any cards last month so with both St. Patricks Day this month and Easter on the first I've been busy with cards.

For this card I am entering it at  "TRY STAMPIN' ON TUESDAY"   for their  March technique challenge, which is embossing.   I used dry embossing.   Above is the link to the challenge and
here are more details.

March Technique Challenge

This month Chris is featuring both dry and heat embossing. She has put together a great PDF Tutorial on how to do it, different features, and how to make her cards. So please check it out. There are lots of ways to join in the technique challenge this month. You can even use your score board to emboss lines on your paper. We cant wait to see how you like to emboss!

Easter Card

I made this Easter card today.   I will be sending it to one of my Granddaughters.
I used the sketch challenge at  "TRY STAMPIN' ON TUESDAY"   I also used the optional theme of Green,  then added the March technique challenge  of embossing.   I used one embossing folder on the green patterned background paper and another one on the tan square where I added the Easter Basket sticker.

Here is the link to "TRY STAMPIN' ON TUESDAY" and the sketch that I used.

Today has been all about making Easter cards.    I will be entering this one into two different challenges.     First is card sketch  for week #504 at  "SKETCH SATURDAY"
Here is the sketch.

Then the 2nd challenge I'll enter is at  "AUD SENTIMENTS CHALLENGE BLOG"

Sympathy Card

One card I don't keep in my stash is Sympathy cards because I hope I never need them.   But a week ago a friend from my old neighborhood lost her husband.    We didn't do a lot together but were together on our Home Association board, in fact she was the one that first recruited me to join the board.    Even though I moved from this town last fall I still wanted to get a card out to her and let her know she was in my thoughts.

I used the card sketch #117 at  "SKETCH N SCRAP"  to make this card.     It worked perfectly for this sketch.

Here is the sketch and link to all the challenges at   "SKETCH N SCRAP"  this month.   Check them out, 2 layouts and 2 card sketches per month are here to use.

Birthday card

My grandson will be 12 later in the month and I made this personalized card for him today.

The four strips of pennants are strips of washi tape.   I used them for the Wishi/Washi challenge
at   "STINKIN' INKERS CHALLENGE BLOG"    I usually don't think to use a lot of washi tape but this was fun making this background design using the washi tape.

Getting Ready for Spring

Elle was out and about yesterday with her Mom and Dad doing a little shopping and they sent me these pictures.   Of course I just had to scrap them.    I had been holding on to the sketch #148 at
"SKETCH N SCRAP"  and since it was for 2 pictures I knew it would work great for these.

I also saw the new sketch this morning at  "THE STUDIO CHALLENGES"   which is a recipe challenge.   There are 10 items in it to try and see how many you can use on your project.   I used 8 of the 10 on mine, Stamping, Ribbon, Stitching (faux for me), Purple (3 enamel hearts), Flowers, Aqua color, Enamel Dots and Hearts.

Scrapping Everyday

There is another great new challenge today at  "LASTING MEMORIES"      March is National Craft Month.   Yeah for all of us scrapbookers.      The challenge is to create a layout about a craft you do or about your craft room.   I decided to go with a layout about my room.    Since we moved to the lake last fall I have a lot more space and I use every bit of it.

Check out the details here at  "LASTING MEMORIES"  and happy scrapping.

Hawaii Vacation time

I saw two new challenges this week and I knew I would do another layout from our family Hawaii vacation in 2014.   I took so many pictures so always find more to scrap.

Challenge #1 was at  "LET'S GET SKETCHY"   they have a combo mood board and sketch challenge going on now.   When I saw the mood board I thought immediately of this one paper stack that I have and how it would work perfectly with the colors and the tropical flowers and plants on the mood board.    I looked for a picture I hadn't used yet and deccided to use this one of my Dad,walking by the pool at the house we had rented for the walk on his way to the property edge to look out at the ocean.   Oh what a fantastic location we had.   My brother found the house through VRBO and it was perfect.  He had a room, Dad had a room and my husband and I had our own room.

Here is the sketch and the mood board for the challenge and the link to  "LET'S GET SKETCHY"

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Challenge #2 I am entering with this layout is the newest challenge at   "THE PAPER GIRLS CHALLENGE"     Their challenge #147 os   Travel-Vacation Fun and that sure describes this trip the four of us took together.  I so wish I was on my way back there right now.

So here is the link to  "THE PAPER GIRLS CHALLENGE"  and all the details about it.

Cuddles & Dad

My goal this month is to scrap at least one old picture a week.   This sure qualifies as it is my son and his Dad when he was about 6 months old and he turns 41 this fall.  This was also when my hobby was photo developing and this is one of pictures I developed myself.     I added some more masculine embellishments to it for the challenge #110 at  "SCRAPPING 4 FUN CHALLENGES"   My journaling tag has a metal tag opening and I just used pkg string to tie it instead of a color bakers twine.  The I added 3 squared off paper clips around the picture.   Plus (its hard to see) I have metal alphas on the bottom left of the picture that says 'hug'  Other than that I just kept it plain and simple.

Here is the link to  "SCRAPPING 4 FUN CHALLENGES"  and the rules.

3 St. Patrick's Day Cards

There is a challenge this week going on at  "BITTEN BY THE BUG 2"   The challenge is.....

Happy Monday!  Susan here to bring you this week's Bitten By the Bug 2 Cricut Challenge.  As March brings hopes of springtime, it also brings St. Patrick's Day. Being of Irish decent, we always mark St. Patrick's Day with authentic Irish food and a few fun traditions.  This week's challenge,

SHOW US YOUR SHAMROCKS

pays tribute to my Irish heritage, as well as that of many millions of Americans.  I hope you get out your green card stock and join in us in preparing for St. Patrick's Day!!

For this challenge I got out my "Celebrate With A Flourish" cartridge and started cutting out double shamrocks for my 3 cards I needed for family to mail out for the holiday.   The top card 'Irish Luck'  I cut two double shamrocks set at 2" for my card and then the Be Irish card I cut the shamrock at 3"
and finally the card with the stamped sentiment (it's for my Dad) I cut the shamrocks at 2.5"

This was a fun challenge and I got to use my all time favorite cartridge.   Here is the link to the challenge at  "BITTEN BY THE BUG 2"
