Stop !

I made this layout with the new challenge at  "LASTING MEMORIES"  in mind and cut out a bunch of different size stars to make my own background on my cardstock.    I added a strip of paper to the left to go with the colors of her hat and then inked the white and black stars with similar colors of ink.

I really don't know what Elle was doing in this picture, they were on vacation in Florida, but as soon as they sent it to me, all I could think was STOP.  It just liked she was telling everyone to stop and let her do what she wanted.  LOL

Here is the link to  "LASTING MEMORIES" and all the details    This is challenge #393 and the first for May.

Now, onto this month's theme. Our theme and challenges this month are courtesy of DT Denise. The theme is - Variety of Shapes - and our first challenge is:

LM #393 - use one or more stars on your layout.

Look Papa Don

This was definitely outside of the box for me with the sketch at  "LET'S GET SKETCHY" with all of the diamond shapes that were in the sketch for April 1st.   But with just a couple of days left in the challenge I got it made.    Here are all the details and links to  "LET'S GET SKETCHY"

April 1 Sketch Challenge

Happy Easter all and welcome to another installation of LGS.  We have another great sketch for you this week!  This week we are thinking outside the box and inside of the triangles!

Pretty Girl

I'm entering this layout at  "LASTING MEMORIES"  for challenge #389.

LM #389 - Try a new paper technique on your layout (paper weaving, paper folding, quilling, paper lollies, rolled paper flowers, paper fringe etc.)

I did paper weaving with my strips of paper on top of my background paper.

On The Runway

I saw these pictures that my brother took of my granddaughter, he was out with the kids last weekend when they were touring some of the Parade of Homes in their town.   Bruce just put the big stocking cap he was wearing on top of Elle's head as she was walking away.    So when I saw them I thought it would make a cute layout.   Plus it's fun to see new pictures of her that I didn't take.

I was inspired making this layout from the challenge #390 at  "LASTING MEMORIES"   Wasn't sure I was going to try it but glad I did.   I made my background out of two different patterns of washi tape and then did faux stitching with two different colors of pens to make my own background on my grey card stock.  I don't use a lot of washi tape so this turned out to be a good way to used some that I had on hand.

Here is the link to the challenge at   "LASTING MEMORIES"   and the details

LM #390 - All About Paper - Make Your Own Background

Today is the start of a new challenge here at Lasting Memories. Our theme this month is "All About Paper" and this week is all about the background.

LM - #390 - Make your own background paper (start with solid cardstock, use mixed media, paint and/or sprays, tie die it, stamp it, etc)

That's right, we want to see what kind of a background that you create

#Family

Went to see my Dad this Sunday, my brother goes every Sunday he lives 40 minutes away, I'm a little less than 2 hours.  But I've been going every other weekend or sometimes more.   Lately I've been trying to get a group picture or at least a picture of Dad every visit.   He will be 95 this June and lives at home.   Go Dad.

I used sketch challenge #52 at  "SCRAP CHALLENGE YOURSELF".   This month they had a sketch and of course you always have to include a picture of yourself in the layout.   So this is my entry.   I love the challenge because I'm the picture taker in the family so its good when I get someone else to take a picture and I can be included in whats going on.   We all need to include ourselves more in our layouts.

Here is the link to "SCRAP CHALLENGE YOURSELF"  and the sketch.

An April PL page

I just finished this Project Life page covering about the last 9 days.   I decided to make it using a challenge at  "SOUL-SCRAPPERS"     I used TTT36   Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge.
I used the center vertical column and used Journal Strips, Polka Dot paper and Stars.   I have the polka dot paper in 5 of the 6 pockets,  journal strips with all the pictures and along with other wood veneer embellishments I used 4 different stars.

Here is the link to  "SOUL SCRAPPERS"  and the Tic-Tac-Toe  board.

Hello card

When I saw sketch #449 this morning at  "TUESDAY MORNING SKETCHES"  I knew I wanted to use it because its so versatile and can be used for nay type of card.     I went with a simple Hello card and will probably be mailing it off to my Dad.  No use just letting it sit here and wait for something,  I'll just use it now.

Here is the link to  "TUESDAY MORNING SKETCHES"  and the sketch I used.

Picnic @ Home

I thought this was such a cute picture of my Granddaughter Dylan about to have a picnic at home with her Mom.   I used the sketch #151 at  "SKETCH N SCRAP"  to make this.   I kept it clean and simple with no more embellishments other than the ribbon and ants on the picture frame.

Here is the sketch and link to   "SKETCH N SCRAP".

I'm also entering this layout at  "SOUL SCRAPPERS"   for their April  Pick 3 challenge.

Shine Brightly

When I saw the latest sketch #321 at "SKETCHES IN THYME"  it made me think of the latest collection of paper I had bought.  Recollections - Watercolor collection.   So I started right out making this layout.    This picture was taken on a Spring Break cruise my stepson and family went on last month and I've been righting for the right inspiration to use it.       The shine brightly was also in the collection on one piece of paper and I just fussy cut around it to use as a title for my layout.

Here is the link to  "SKETCHES IN THYME"  and the  sketch I used.

Christmas Gifts 1978

Today I'm concentrating on scrapping some misc. old pictures I pulled out of albums a couple of weeks ago.   I love scrapping Christmas pictures so this one was so much fun to do.  My son was 15 months old at the time and I have pictures of him here on Christmas Eve, Christmas morning and later on Christmas day.   So that is why he is in different clothes in all the pictures.

I made this layout with the "SCRAP OUR STASH"   April Blend-A-Sketch Challenge.     It is so much fun looking at two different sketches and then combining elements from both of them to come up with your layout.    I used the layout of the pictures in the left sketch and then the top right from that sketch also.  Then I went with the larger piece of paper behind the pictures from the sketch on the right and also the circles from that sketch that I used doilies for.     The twist to go with combining the two sketches was to also use polka dot paper or enamel dots.     I have a background polka dot paper and then also the large polka dot paper also.

Here is the link to  "SCRAP OUR STASH"  and the sketches to combine.    Have fun creating.

Family Christmas

I pulled out a lot of old pictures from albums a couple of weeks ago and had them on my desk to scrap "at some point"   I did some old Disney vacation pictures earlier in the week and today this is my 2nd layout from Christmas 1978.  On the left is myself and paternal grandmother and picture on the right is my Mom and then husband.

I have several chronological Christmas albums and I love finding more pictures to add to the years that I have already done.  This will be a great addition.    I also get to enter this layout into two
different challenges.

First, I used the April Jump Start sketch at  "THE SCRAPROOM BLOG"  for this layout.   I loved the sketch because I got to use a lot of scraps of Christmas papers in my stash.   I started with just a new sheet of green cardstock and then all the other papers were full sheets already cut up and just waiting for a new home.

Here is the link to  "THE SCRAPROOM BLOG"  and the sketch.

Next I will enter this at  "LASTING MEMORIES"  for their challenge #391 is to use at least 4 different patterned papers and I have 4 in this one.

Here is the link to  "LASTING  MEMORIES"  and more details about the challenge.

Lamberts Cafe

If you live in southern Missouri or Northern Arkansas for sure.   For that matter all of Missouri or traveled through the area you know about Lambert's Cafe  "Home of the Throwed Rolls"
Just a 'down home' place to go for great food, lots of food and of course the best huge hot rolls ever.
They actually throw you the rolls from across the room.  You want a roll while you wait for your meal or while eating, just wave your hands and one will be thrown to you.   Boy are they good.
We stopped there Wednesday for an early dinner on our way home from Silver Dollar City.
We got lucky with the timing, on weekends and in the summer you might find a couple of tour buses stopped there to eat and even though its a big place with lots of tables you might expect a wait but it is well worth it

For this layout I used the April 1st sketch at  "SKETCH N SCRAP"    Check it out below and see what you can do with it.

Goalie

My granddaughter in Texas loves soccer and usually plays forward but a few weeks ago they put her in as goalie and my son sent these pictures of her.   She told me later it was not her favorite position at all.

I used the double page sketch at  "STICK IT DOWN"   Here is the sketch and click on the name to see all the information and the other sketches for April.

Easter Egg Hunt

I'm the Guest Designer today at   "SKETCH N SCRAP"   I had so much fun working with this sketch and got to make a layout of my granddaughters first Easter Egg Hunt.   They had the hunt at home the day before Easter because snow and rain was in the forecast for Easter Sunday so wanted to make sure she got to go out and have this fun experience for all little ones.   I remember how much fun I had when I was little and hunting for all the eggs and candies.   Then the fun I had as a Mom hiding the eggs and watching my kids enjoying the hunt.   Now the last few years I've been able too enjoy all my grandkids hunting for eggs.

Here is the sketch I used and I hope to see a lot of people join in this fun challenge at
"SKETCH N SCRAP"     I'm sure you will enjoy the sketch as much as I did.   Also check out their  Facebook page, that is where my layout will be   ""SKETCH N SCRAP""  Facebook fan page.  There are fun online crops there and another big one starting the first of May.

What A View

When I saw the new challenge at   "SCRAP OUR STASH"  I knew I would go back and scrap some more pictures of our hot air balloon trip back in 2015 while on vacation.   I've been trying lately to fill in old vacation albums with more layouts from each trip so this was the perfect opportunity.

My background paper is from the Shimelle Star Shine collection.  The banners were cut from scraps, I tried to pull colors from the balloons on the background paper.   Then I pulled out another piece of Shimelle paper from the True Stories collection and that is where I fussy cut all the little snippets of words,   I did the ones that went with our thoughts about this experience, a first for both of us.

The pictures were the set up of the balloon, on the trip itself and then after we landed.   I thought about doing three titles  Start, During, Finished by the 3 sets of pictures but just wasn't happy with how it would lay out after I cut the word snippets so I went with  What a View title.   And that was so true, it was beautiful to see everything from above,  I have a picture of me looking up at other balloons going by and a picture of my husband looking down at the scenery below.

Part of the challenge was to include clouds in your layout and I added 3 wood veneer clouds on the blue banner, plus there are clouds in the back ground paper and in one picture.  Plus the main inspiration of the Disney movie "Up"  that is why I went with the hot air balloon pictures and paper.

Here is the details of the challenge at  "SCRAP OUR STASH"

Training Bo

Nikki and David have a new dog in the household.   This is Bo.   They got him at 12 weeks old and are doing some beginning training themselves at home and then a month from now will be old enough to go to a trainer and work as being a autism service dog for Addisyn.   The two of them have already bonded and stays by her side most of the day at home.     I think Bo is going to be a great dog.

I used the sketch at  "THROUGH THE EYES OF ROCHELLE SPEARS"  it was perfect to combine the pictures of the kids dressing for National Autism month one day and then the pictures of Bo doing some training at home wearing his service vest.

Other than the sketch the other part of the challenge was to use Kraft paper.
Most of the paper I used and two of the embellishments came from an old collection, My Minds Eye - Kraft Fun Day.

Here is the link to "ROCHELLE SPEARS" and the sketch.

For this challenge, you will need to create a new layout inspired by this sketch AND use KRAFT paper on your layout.

Elle & the Easter Bunny

When I got this picture of my youngest granddaughter Elle with the Easter Bunny.   I couldn't wait to make an Easter layout and add it to my Easter album through the years, from myself and my brother as kids and then with my kids and then with the grandkids as they celebrated.

I found an old old sketch I had saved and started working with it to make my layout.    Before I even started anything I knew I would use my circut for the title.   I pulled out my all time favorite cartridge
"Celebrate With a Flourish"  to make the tile, Hoppy Easter.  I tried to pull all the colors in my patterned paper and used them again in the title.

I'll be entering this layout at  "FANTABULOUS CRICUT CHALLENGE BLOG"  for their challenge #323 - Anything Goes.    The optional twist was to use sequins but I didn't get to that part.

Silas Easter 2018

#3 Easter layout for the day.   But this is the end of my Easter pictures, but I sure had fun getting my cricut out for either titles or embellishments.   Here I made two baskets of eggs with my cricut and Thickers for my title.   Then I just used two old 3D embellishments I had in my stash.   Leftover piece of Easter paper from an earlier layout today and one I just bought last night,  the pink patterned banner came out of my pattern paper leftover pile and the triple matting on the picture scrap card stock.   The grey yardstick on the easter paper was cut from a new piece, then I used 2 different colors of inks for inking the edges of the grey and pink and pulled out one of my color pens to write the year of  banner.   So yep I Used My Stuff and that is why I'm entering the s layout at..........
"USE YOUR STUFF"    for their challenge #306  - Easter/Spring

Anniversary Card

My 11th wedding anniversary is on Friday so I made this card for my husband.    I was inspired by the prompt at    "SHOPPING OUR STASH"     I just used a black on black background patterned paper that I used a heart border punch across the top and then added a blue doily to the center.  I had a blue heat embossed leaf stamp image that I matted in black and white and cut down my sentiment from a PL card and added that and had my card made.

SOS348 - Black, White + 1 Other Color

Greetings crafty friends! Can'y believe it's already April!

Thanks for coming by today to check out our latest challenge!
This week's challenge is to use only BLACK, WHITE + 1 OTHER COLOR

Spring Showers

I made this card today to send to my Dad, we have been talking almost every day on the phone about how it seems winter is never going to stop.   It seems like all of March was rain and grey skies.
Then on Easter Sunday he got snow and 1 1/2 south of him where we are we got sleet.  Since then we are back to grey skies.    We are both ready for the flowers and Summer.   And oh yeah, we don't live up north on East Coast which has had so much snow, but right here in central Missouri.

So when I saw the challenge at   "BITTEN BY THE BUG 2"  I knew I would make a card to send to Dad.   I cut the umbrella on my cricut from the Celebrate With a Flourish cartridge.   I can't tell you how many times I've used this cartridge.   I don't think there is a single image I haven't cut and used.
Then I found this perfect Project Life card in my stash and combined them for this card to mail to Dad.
Here are the details of the challenge.

IT IS APRIL...GRAB YOUR UMBRELLA!

Bubbles

A sketch with a lot of white space is really intimidating to me, but I had just gotten all these pictures of my granddaughter and her bubble bath and I thought the sketch would work great and be able to use all the pictures.        So I jumped in and worked with this sketch at   "STICK IT DOWN"

Here is the link to  "STICK IT DOWN"  and the single page sketch for the month.   Be sure to also check out the double page sketch and the card sketch too.   I already have my pictures picked out for the double page sketch this month.
