Merry Christmas

I alway make a card for my husband and put it in his stocking at Christmas and this is the one I just made today for him.

I used sketch #135 at  "SKETCH N SCRAP"   for the card.      Just click on this link for all December challenges at  "SKETCH N SCRAP"

Waiting for Santa

Elle loves pointing out the Santas that are decorations at her house and saying "Santa, Santa"  but when it came to meeting the big guy in person, she was not overly enthusiastic about it.   But at least there are some pictures of her with Santa this year, even though no big smiles about the experience.

I used the sketch #167 at   "SKETCH N SCRAP"    I really like this sketch and I'm going to save it and use it again.

Here is the sketch and link to "SKETCH N SCRAP"

Christmas Village

I made this layout with the challenge #426 at  "LASTING MEMORIES" - Holiday Traditions.

The prompt for these last 2 weeks of the month is My Favorite Things and one of my very favorite holiday traditions  is to see up "some" of my Christmas houses and such.   I have more than this but these are the ones I decided to put out this year.  I have one row on the buffet in my dining room and the two little groupings in two different corners of my kitchen.

LM #426 - Holiday Traditions - My Favorite Things

Hello, everyone! Good Sunday morning to you! Are you all ready for Christmas? After a day of shopping yesterday, I think that I am finally ready!

With Christmas just a little over a week away, and in order to give the design team a little break, this week's challenge will run for two weeks. Since this is the last challenge for the month, and for 2018, we want to say a big thank you to our guest designer for December, Jill! I have really enjoyed Jill's layouts that she has shared each week. Thank you, Jill, for being our guest designer!

Now, on to the challenge. Our theme in December has been - Holiday Traditions - and this week's challenge is:

LM #426 - My Favorite Things - scrap a photo of your favorite holiday item(s) or your favorite holiday collections (favorite ornaments, Nutcracker collection, etc.)

CHRISTMAS CATS

I always have to leave a spot under the tree after I put the presents out because the cats love the nap under the tree.   I think they like the heat the lights put out plus they feel hidden from everything else.

I used the sketch #353 at  "SKETCHES IN THYME"  for this layout, it was perfect for these two pictures I got.

Here is the sketch and link to the challenge  at  "SKETCHES IN THYME" .

Stonewall Kitchen

Today I finally finished all of my layouts from the road trip we took in October.   That is all I have been concentrating on for about the last week.   I had started it soon after I got home but then I quit but now, I'm happy to say, the album is complete.    This was one of the last ones I made today.
We love Stonewall Kitchen products and by chance saw the sign while driving through York, ME on our way to Portland, ME area to start our day of lighthouse sightseeing.   So we had to go and see if by chance the company store was open, it was right after 8:00 and thought for sure it would be closed but took the chance and luckily it was open.  And a lot of people shopping and some employees and people from town there and enjoying breakfast in their cafe.   Besides getting started on some Christmas shopping while there we also stopped and took some pictures of each other out in front of the store and cafe that was all decorated for fall.

I will be entering this at   "SCRAP CHALLENGE YOURSELF"  Challenge #60 is Anything Goes, no theme, just whatever you want to do as long as you include a picture of yourself on your layout.

Here is the link to "SCRAP CHALLENGE YOURSELF"  and the details.

MAINE

The last several days I've been working a lot of layouts from our Road Trip we took toward the end of October,  I'm almost finished.   Maine was the last state we went to on our trip before heading home.   We stopped at the visitors center as soon as we got into the state and that is where this picture was taken.      I had fun using the December sketch   "LET'S GET SKETCHY"  for this layout.   It was a a fun a different design to work with.     Here is the sketch below and the link to  "LET'S GET SKETCHY"

Christmas

This was a fun double challenge for me.   I did the Scrappy Friends challenge combining
"ROCHELLE SPEARS BLOG"  and  "SCRAP WITH STACHY BLOG"    The sketch I followed was from Rochelle Spears and you had to include snowflake patterned paper.   I have a little different snowflake of the white & gold snowflake on red background on my flag paper.    Then Stacy's challenge is a Song Inspiration, the song is "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year"  and I have that title on the strip of paper top left.

Here are the links to the challenges and the information about them both.

The Journey

I'm slowly working on layouts from our October road trip to the East coast.   This was one stop in this little shopping village in Mystic, CT.   It was quant and unique, we really enjoyed walking around and looking at all the fun shops.

I used the Jump Start sketch challenge at   "THE SCRAP ROOM BLOG".    It was perfect to showcase  three of my favorite pictures of this area.

Here is the sketch and link to   "THE SCRAP ROOM BLOG" .

BRRR

I think it's going to be a snowier winter in Missouri than it has been in the past.   My grandkids in St. Louis already had a snow day in the middle of November.    I'll enter this in two blog challenges.

I used the "SCRAP OUR STASH"  December Golden Globe challenge.    I created a winter layout and used snowflake embellishments on my layouts.    Everything on my layout is old from my stash with the exception of my snowflake embellishments.   Everything else I have had for years and I used up scraps too with the matting on my pictures.

Here is the link to  "SCRAP OUR STASH"  for the challenge.

*********************************************************

I used the challenge #16 at   "DOUBLE TROUBLE"  for my 2nd entry with this layout.   It was also perfect to go with my wintery layout.     Here is all the details.   For THING 1 - Trouble Maker I used heat embossing for the snow on my tag.    For THING 2 - Twisted Sister I have snow in my pictures, snowflake embellishements and in all my paper and a snowman on my tag I added.

Here is all the information for the "DOUBLE TROUBLE" Challenge.
HING 1 Trouble Maker

Hint: If you include a coffee/tea/cocoa image or sentiment,
you may  join in the fun at 2018 Fall/Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop Time is limited on the Coffee Blog Hop so read the details below.

Both of these are OPTIONAL twists so why not double the trouble and include both? You will be awarded an additional chance for participating in each twist in Double Trouble's random prize draw.

Suds

Realized I hadn't scrapped these pictures of my grandkids from their day at the Texas State Fair back in early October.    So I thought the sketch #350 at  "SKETCHES IN THYME"  was perfect for these two pictures together.     I'm not sure what they were doing but looks like the went into some
"house" full of suds, not sure if it was a maze or what, but I think they had fun!!!!

Here is the sketch at   "SKETCHES IN THYME"     You still have today and tomorrow to enter any of the November layout sketch challenges.

Santa Card

I'm slowly getting my Christmas cards made and this one I just made I used sketch #133 at
"SKETCH N SCRAP"   I really like it and will most likely be using it again and again.

Snow

Elle loves when they get to play outside at daycare and even with some left over snow left from an early November snow.   She was so excited to be out in it and was pointing it out and saying "Ice DeeDee" to her favorite teacher.   The she even made a little snow ball and brought it to her.

I used sketch #165 made by Heather from  "SKETCH N SCRAP" for this layout.
Here is the sketch and use the link above to see all this months challenges.

Playing

At my granddaughters day care they take different pictures of the kids doing things and then post them on the message board they send to parents with daily updates about meals and what they are doing etc etc.    Since I babysat for a week this last summer while Mom and Dad were on vacation my name got added to the contact list so I still get daily updates and I love saving some of the pictures that are taken.   Elle's favorite time at day care is when they go outside to play, she loves
climbing on everything and going down the big slide and then running to do it again.

I used Sketch #348 at  "SKETCHES IN THYME"  for this layout, it was perfect for the 3 pictures I had from this one day.

Happy Travelers

In the last month or so Elle has started carrying a baby doll around with her all the time, making sure that her Mom has swaddled her just right and then off they go.     She took her "baby" with her on their trip to DC and these pictures were taken at the airport before they boarded their plane to come home.    Elle was making sure her baby could see the plane they were going to get on.

I used the  Challenge #337 - Stars at    "USE YOUR STUFF"     I have 4 patterned paper stars and 2 wood veneer stars on my layout.

Challenge #337 - Stars

A new week, a new challenge!
This week is all about STARS!
Use a star or stars in some way on your project!

Fall Beauty

We got one fall trip out on our boat this fall and it was just perfect timing for the leaves to be changing and it was absolutely breathtaking.

I used the November sketch at  "LET'S GET SKETCHY"  for this layout.   I just had to rotate it some to work with my pictures.

Here is the link to  "LET'S GET SKETCHY"  and the sketch that I used.

Next this layout is perfect for the challenge at  "THROUGH THE PURPLE HAZE"

 Challenge #150  Everything Fall

Shopping

I'm back today working on a few more layouts from our vacation to New England last month.   These pictures were taken at a little shopping village we stopped at in Mystic, CT.    We both found favorite stores,   anything Christmas for me and anything cats for Arthur.   Perfect !!!

I used the sketch #347 at  "SKETCHES IN THYME"  for this layout.   I'm really pleased with how it turned out.  It was fun adding different leaf embellishments.

Reunited

My 21 month old Granddaughter has always had a special bond with her Great Grandfather.   This picture really shows it so well.   They usually see each other every Sunday but one week they were on vacation to DC so she didn't see them.    She really missed him and a few days after they got home she heard Papa's voice on the telephone and just ran to the door to go see him.   Took a bit coaxing and trying to reason with a 21 month old but she calmed down, so this last week they went a day early on Saturday and took her over for some special time together.   She ran right into the house to him and was excited and spent a lot of time being held and having their own little "conversations"

I used the prompt #420 at  "LASTING MEMORIES"  for this layout -   This month is all about Techniques and this week it was Stitching.    I have faux stitching around both of my photo mats and then also on the four corners of the background paper.

Here is the link to    "LASTING MEMORIES"    and the information about  the challenge.

asting Memories #420 - Techniques - Stitching

Happy Sunday! Welcome back - we are so happy that you stopped by!

We have a fun new challenge for you today! Our theme for November is - Techniques - and today's challenge is:

LM #420 - Stitching - One of my favorite things to add to my layouts is stitching. Your challenge this week is to add some type of 'STITCHING'. This can be actual machine or hand stitching, stamped or stenciled stitching, faux stitching, etc.

21 Months

I love getting these pictures and weekly stories every month since Elle turned a week old.   The first year they took a new picture every week laying on the same blanket and then a picture sitting in this chair every month.   Then after Elle was a year old they went to just a new picture and update posted to Facebook every month.   I hope they do something after she is two also because it is so fun to read these updates "in her words" for each week.

I'm going to enter this layout at  "DOUBLE TROUBLE PAPER CRAFTING"  Challenge #13

I used the number 21 as my lucky number on my layout.   A big die-cut 21 and there is also 21 on the picture.

WELCOME to Challenge #13 - Let the Troubles Begin
Whoopi - there are five Mondays in this month. Time for our
"Something, Anything and Everything"
ONE WEEK ONLY CHALLENGE

THING 1: Trouble Maker
For some the number 13 is synonymous with bad luck. It's considered unlucky to have 13 guests at a dinner party, many buildings don't have a 13th floor and most people avoid getting married or buying a house on a day marked by this number. Some superstitious folks even avoid driving on Friday the 13th.

"Who says the 13th has to be unlucky? And besides it's a Monday not a Friday?" Let's turn it around and join our Double Trouble's Lucky #13 Challenge. Trouble Maker says this is a Free for All challenge so have a little fun creating with "Some Thing", "Any Thing" and "Every Thing". Remember, this is a one-week challenge.

THING 3:
Twisted Sister agrees #13 can be a lucky number. Include your lucky number on a project. For example, this can be a die-cut, hand-drawn or stamped number, a pair of dice, playing cards, etc. This is an OPTIONAL TWIST but it's so easy that we hope everyone will join in. If you do the twist, Double Trouble will give you an extra chance in our random draw.

THING 2:
Double Dare has more than doubled the fun. Link up your project with any of our previous partners for an additional chance for the Double Trouble random draw.

If your project was entered into one of our previous partner challenges below and have met their requirements, include in your Blog Your project for Double Trouble could meet the requirements of the challenges below providing you meet their requirements. So make sure you read their instructions carefully and dates that they are open .... we don't want you to get in Trouble with them. Please include in the comment section below or in your Blog any of these other challenges you chose to team with.

Halloween 2018

My stepdaughter Barbara always goes all out for the family costumes for the family.   Their neighborhood has a big parade and party.   This year they went Moana style.
Sketch #164 at   "SKETCH N SCRAP"   was for four pictures and was perfect to use a separate picture of each of our granddaughters, a picture with Mom and the boat and then a separate one of Mom & Dad together.

Here is the sketch and link to  "SKETCH N SCRAP"

--------------------------------

I am also entering this layout at   "THE PAPER GIRLS CHALLENGE"    This will be my 3rd entry in their current challenge with the prompt Halloween.

Spooky at Home

I got this picture of my Granddaughter from Texas standing in front of her house that was all decorated for Halloween and I made it so it will work for two challenges.

First I used the Technique prompts and Challenge #419 at   "LASTING MEMORIES"   First I tore my background patterned paper and then mounted it on purple card stock (to go with my granddaughters skirt) and then I used a 4x6 PL type card and cut it down a bit and then tore some of edges around it also.  Then just to soften the lines I rounded the corners on my photo.

#419 - Techniques - Paper Tearing -  I love adding a bit of texture to my work by using torn paper. This week our challenge is rather simple and easy to use - "2 or More Torn Papers".
{You may, of course, add anything else.}

_________________________________________________

Next was a simple challenge to complete.   It was Challenge #162 at  "THE PAPER GIRLS CHALLENGE"
That challenge was  - HALLOWEEN.   There is still a couple of days to enter this challenge so get busy with those Halloween pictures.
