At the Fair

Last day of the month and I'm trying to get all my layouts done for the month.    I'll have a little more scrapping time Wed. and Thursday but Friday is packed with things to do and then Sat. leave for 10 day vacation.   Yeah for that but I will miss my scrapping.    The newest challenge at "Stick it Down" was pick your own sketch for any in their collection.   I picked this one photo sketch from Brenshevia, she always makes some great sketches.     I've ben hoarding this pic of the grand boys from the fair this summer to scrap.   I thought the papers from MME - Find Your Wings and Fly collection worked out great.    Check out the details of this challenge HERE and find your favorite sketch there to use.

Making Pottery

I love it when I find a double page sketch that will work perfectly with my pictures.    I've been holding on to this set of pictures of Mylan making pottery.   Not sure where they were but it was while on vacation in California.   Both she and Kai made their pieces and it looks like they were having so much fun.    This fantastic sketch that you see below is the latest challenge at
"Let's Scrap" you still have till midnight tonight to enter.    Glad I made it because they have a great prize of a big stash of Washi Tape.    Check it out HERE.

Route 66

I really loved this sketch at "Stuck on U Sketches" by Leah Schaeffer will definitely be using it again.
I still have some pictures to scrap from our Road trip to Michigan over the summer.   We went off the interstate a couple of different times and had stops on Route 66.   I love seeing things off the beaten path and to sometimes take the road less traveled.  You never know what you will come across, like this old service station.   That was the longest running station on Route 66.   From 1933 to 1966, 66 years on Route 66.   You still have just over a week to enter this challenge and till the end of today to go on the Blog Hop running now on Stuck on U Sketches.   I did all 3 blog hops this month and got some awesome inspiration along the way.      Check it all out  HERE.

Mother of the Bride AKA M.O.B.

It's rare that I make a layout all about me but.....    "Let's Get Sketchy" gave me the push in that direction with their Sept. Week 5 challenge as 'All About Me'       I started thinking about what picture I might use of myself (that I would even like) and why I would make a layout with it.
Then the light bulb goes on.   The highlight for me this year was when my daughter, Leslie got married.   Being the Mother of the Bride is something I think every woman thinks about once they have a daughter.   I loved every moment that I got to help planning the wedding whether in person or together, as I live in Kansas City and Leslie lives in DC and that is where the wedding was going to be.   And then the day of the wedding was wonderful, from together for hair appts. to helping her get dressed and ready to riding together in the limo for the ceremony and then I have to say I danced the night away at the reception and I loved it all.     I love you Leslie, thanks for this perfect moment in time.

Poolside

Before fall weather totally kicks in with cool nights I thought I would pull out one more summer time picture and scrap it tonight.   This is my granddaughter Mylan taking a little break from swimming while she was in California this summer for a couple of weeks and having all kinds of fun with her cousins.
I used Sketch #130 at Sketches In Thyme for this layout.    So glad to have them back and posting awesome sketches and challenges again.   I always love all the great sketches they have.   I've used many of them over the years.     See this sketch below and check out the details   HERE.

Harvest Moon

My brother took this picture at his house during the Harvest Moon, late August, early September, I can't remember when it was, but recently.    I wasn't sure if I would scrap it but I kept it because I really liked it.    Then  I saw this sketch at  "Let's Get Sketchy"   their week 3 sketch and I saved it too.   Yesterday I saw the new challenge at "Lasting Memories" -- Nature's Glory I thought of tis picture as to me a Harvest Moon is a part of nature.   I used fall colors for my layout to go with the title and the time of the year and made this layout using the perfect sketch I had been saving.
You can see the sketch below and read about the challenge at "Let's Get Sketchy"  HERE  and

Tennis Anyone

I'm behind on all my challenges this week, so with 6 hours to spare getting this one made for the Sept. 15th sketch at  "Stuck ?! Sketches"  I've had it saved because I knew I would use more of the pictures from my granddaughters first tennis lesson, so I'm glad today I finally got to it and can enter the challenge.   They always have great sketches and didn't want to miss this one.    So just like me anyone at the last minute see the sketch here and check out the details and prize  HERE.
Good luck everyone.

Tennis

This summer my granddaughter Mylan took some tennis lessons.   I had several pictures and just now getting around to scrapping them.  Love how she is not as tall as the net, but sure looks like she was having fun.    I had to find a good sketch to use several pictures so  Sketch #278 from  "Creative Scrappers" was perfect.  I got to use 4 of them.    Check out the sketch below and click  HERE to read the details of the challenge and all about everything that Creative Scrappers has going on.

Chopper and DC

I'm running behind on challenges this month, been to busy of a traveling work month, but I have spent the day scrapping so that is always good.    I've had this sketch out from "Let's Capture Our Memories" sketch #89 from Sept 13th and finally 2 weeks later I get to use it.     My daughter and son-in-law got a dog a couple of months ago and if they ever have kids I know I'll get plenty of pictures because they sure have been sharing the pictures on FB of Chopper.    I think Chopper may end up with his own album soon.     The kids are moving back to Missouri first of December and when I saw this picture it just looked to me like Chopper was looking across the way at Jefferson Memorial like it would be the last time he would see it.    Was probably really thinking he wanted to jump over edge and get in water and swim, but I'm sticking to my thought.   :)
You can see the sketch I used below and check out the challenge details  HERE, still a couple of days to enter all the weekly challenges at "Let's Capture Our Memories"

Sunday Ride

I rotated the sketch at "Boys Rule" to make this layout.   My son-in-law goes bike riding every Sunday morning and often rides to work in DC during the week also.  I just loved this picture of him (on the left with helmet on) and a couple of buddies at this scenic rest stop.   Looks like a beautiful place to ride.   Check out the sketch below and challenge details HERE.

If I had a single flower

This stamp was one of the first ones I ever bought when I started making cards.    When I saw the challenge at Sketch-n-Scrap with their card sketch and it said to use your favorite quote, there was no question on what stamp I would use.    I rotated the sketch to go with my quote.   I used washi tape on my background paper, something I rarely use, but I was able to pull all the colors in it for my matting of the quote, so I'm pretty please with the outcome.   You can see the sketch below and check out the challenge HERE   there is still a day to enter this and the other monthly challenges.

Week 37 PL - Lists

When I saw the prompt for the PL challenge at "Stuck on U Sketches"  I hadn't finished week 36 yet but ended up filling it in more than I thought with activities.    Then I knew week 37 was going to be a quiet week and it was.   So I used the opportunities to make a lot of lists of favorites and this way able to fill in for a quiet week and then be able to enter the challenge at SOUS.
I have lists of my favorite overall things, list of favorite TV shows, list of current music favorites. list of favorite movies and then a list of the lists I always make at Christmas time.
Thanks for the challenge, the timing was perfect as I really had no idea how I was going to fill in this week.    Quiet all week with only a trip to new area IKEA on Sunday and lunch out afterwards, that was my week.     Still time to enter the challenge so check it out  HERE

The Mojo

I bought a couple pieces of this anchor paper by itself a month ago at Michaels knowing that it would come in handy at some point.   Then recently I started scraping some pictures from a boat trip we took for 4 nights back in 2006 and so remembered I had this paper and found it today to use.

I thought this sketch at  "Sketch-n-Scrap" blog would be perfect for these 2 pictures of my hubby and my brother on docked at one marina on the boat we had rented 'Mojo'   I just pulled out some of my different red and blue patterned paper scraps and some card stock to mat with and I'm really pleased with the layout.   I added red and blue buttons for embellishments and did some faux stitching around the bigger piece of card stock behind my pictures to just add a little more to the solid color.
I have the sketch below and click  HERE  to see the details for this challenge.   Still time to enter at
"Sketch-n-Scrap", this challenge and the others for the month.

Day Dreaming

I had fun with this sketch and using pieces of the Fancy Pants - Summer Soul collection and then just some white and blue card stock.     I even got to fancy cut the ribbon banner out of a piece from the collection and make that work.   I used alphas from October Afternoon-Woodland Park and the one little strip of paper with circles and arrows at the bottom was a scrap I had in my drawer from
Bo Bunny - Detour collection that I had used on a couple of layouts last week.   Combined with a simple sunshine tag made with a stamp, button and ribbon I had all I needed to showcase this picture of my grandsons.   This was taken over Labor Day weekend when they were on a short vacation in FL.    I picked the title because their Mom and Dad said they had just been standing there on this pier and staring out at this fishing boat.    They said they couldn't decide if they were thinking of a way to make enough money to buy it or how to steal it.   LOL     So the title Day Dreaming.

Now to go with this picture and all the elements I had to have the perfect sketch to use and that was easy.   I just went to the "Colorful Creations" blog and used their sketch from Sept. 15th.    You can see if for yourself below and read about the challenge HERE and join in the fun, still 12 days to join in and make your layout.

Gone Fishing

My son got to go on a chartered fishing trip with his Dad while down in Florida over a long Labor Day weekend.   This is both their passions and they had a great outing catching a lot of huge red fish and others.     Here is a 1 page of 2 I made of the pictures the guide took.    I sued Sketch #64 at
"Sketch-n-Scrap" for this page.   I had been holding onto this Bo Bunny paper because I didn't know how I would be able to use it and not cover all the design at the bottom part of the paper but this sketch worked out great.   Check out all the details for this challenge HERE, there is still plenty of time to join in.

Crazy Dog

My newest fur grand baby, is a hit with his Mom and Dad so always pictures are shared on Facebook, so that just leaves it up to me to make layouts for them for their ongoing album.    If I ever have a real baby I'll have to buy stock in scrapbook papers as I'll be using a lot.
For this layout I decided to use the Sept. -Week 1 sketch at "Let's Get Sketchy"    Just some black and brown card stock.  Scrap card stock for matting and a couple of pieces of 6x6 dog themed paper and a die-cut and my layout was complete.   Check out the details of this challenge HERE and then see everything else that is going on this month at "Let's Get Scrappy"

Cycle Cross

My son-in-law does a lot of bike riding and different events and this last weekend was his first Cycle Cross event.   When my daughter called and said they were on their way to the event I told her to take some pictures as I had all this bike theme papers and embellies.    So she posted this one on FB and thought the Sept. 1st sketch at "Colorful Creations" would work perfect for this pic.   So glad I'm getting to break into the bike embellies.      You have till the end of the month to join in the fun with the great monthly sketches.   Check out the details on this one HERE.

Time with Grandma and Grandpa

I saw these pictures on FB a couple of months back of Avery and her FL grandparents and since we are going there next month I thought I would get this page made to take with me.  I have a few more pages ready to take with me but none with her other grandparents.
I used the sketch for Sept 1st at  "Stuck ?! Sketches"   they just posted the newest sketch for Sept. 15th and that reminded me I still had the first sketch of the month to do.    You have till the end of the month to do both or one of them so check them out.     HERE is the link for the first sketch and challenge details.

MEOW

I really liked the look of this unique, at least to me, sketch at "Stuck On U Sketches"  I started immediately trying to figure out what kinds of pictures to use and my mind went to flowers first and the I decided no I would do some misc. pics of my cats.   We have 5 cats and in these pictures happen to be my 3 favorite ones.   The long haired grey tiger striped cat is "Silky"  the black cat is "Rose" and then our newest cat, and one I truly adore is "Reggie"  All but two pictures were taken of them on my craft desk where they always seem to stay with me,  the top full one is on the floor by my desk on top of a brief case I had just emptied for work and then the next one are Reggie and Rose on my bed, or should I say the cats bed that they allow me to squeeze into a space at night.
I added the tree stickers because cats will climb the tress and then the wooden grey cat just because I've had this for probably 4 years and I decided it was time to use it.   Thanks for the push to get me to make a layout totally different from any I have ever made.     It's the 5th Anniversary at "Stuck on U Sketches"   there are a lot of challenges going on this month so check out the details on this sketch challenge  HERE.

With Jacko

I loved these fall like colors in the "Let's Capture Our Memories"  Sept color challenge.
It's cooled off here in Kansas City today and my windows are open.   It's suppose to get down to 40 degrees tonight for a low so Fall is definitely about here.     I've had these pictures printed and ready to scrap but just never got around to it.   They were when the grandkids were in DC for my daughters wedding and they were at here apartment to finally get to meet Jacko, her pet guinea pig in person.
I got out one full piece of background paper to match one of the colors and then just went to my scrap drawer and started pulling out other pieces of paper and everything else you see on the layout is scrap papers.   Only thing I cut to change the shape of the scrap paper was the 2 pieces of scrap paper I used for the double matting.   The cut curved piece on the yellow was there and the scalloped edge on the left hand border was a scrap as is.   I just started layering all my pieces.

Autumn greeting card

I made the seasonal card for "The Paper's Players" - Theme Challenge #212 'Happy Fall Y'all'
I had this tag I had from a seasonal swap that I thought I would use on a layout but then decided it would be perfect for a card.   I send holiday cards and also seasonal cards to my kids and brother and Dad so I think I'll be sending this one out the first of October to my Dad.
Check out all the details for this challenge and also all the great cards that the DT has there.
Just click  HERE  and you are there.

Getting Ready

Challenge #207 at Lasting Memories is "Let's Celebrate"      My biggest celebration lately was my daughters wedding in May.   I've been making so many layout from all the pictures but this was one subject I hadn't covered yet.   The little things going on in the room with her bridesmaids before she got dressed to leave for the ceremony.    So I made this double page layout.   Her gown hanging in the door way,  help with an extra pin in her hair, a nail touch up, putting on lipstick and steaming any wrinkles out of her veil.    All the little things to do while waiting for the big moment.
You can see all the details on the challenge HERE you still have to Sept 26th to enter.

Week #34 PL pages

I usually keep pretty well caught up with my PL pages but just running a couple of weeks behind now.     Sorry about the quality of the pictures, but my cats would not leave me alone when I was trying to take the cards out to take the pictures so I just kept them in the pockets so a little bit of glare.
I'm entering this weeks pages in the current PL challenge at "Stuck on U Sketches" - Metallic
The prompt was think metallic glitter, pens, sticker, embossing powder, metal charms, paper etc.
I had just used a series of metallic number on my pictures on my PL pages 2 weeks before so didn't want to do that.    But I have several metal buttons and or charms that I never seem to use.   So I got out one package of 6, 2 each of different designs and used one each on these pages.   I took a close up pic below to show you 2 of them.
Stuck on U Sketches is also having a 5th Anniversary blog hop to go along with each challenge this month.   You have until Friday to hop along and see what everyone did on their PL pages for the challenge so check out the details HERE.

US

I had problems yesterday with my I-Photo file on computer and spent the day restoring all my pictures from my backup drive and repairing all the old files.   Luckily it seems everything is back.  It was really scary for awhile waiting to see if my 1000's and 1000's and 1000's of pictures were still there dating back to 2005.    So I couldn't print anything but still wanted to scrap so I made a couple of layouts of pictures I just got from my brothers of a trip we took to Jamaica back in 1997.  Before digital and all was printed.  The olden days.  LOL        These were just some shots we took of each other around the rental house we were staying at.      I used the sketch below from  "Let's Get Sketchy" week #2.    I found this cute little PL type card in one of my paper collections and just cut around the edges and used it for my journaling.     Check out the details of the challenge   HERE  and check back each week for the newest weekly sketch.   Which reminds me I still have to do week 1 sketch.   :)

KC Chalk Art

Word Challenges always make me think.   So when I saw the Sketch and Word challenge that was announced at Paper Secrets on the first of the month, I printed the sketch (you can see it below) and wrote down the word challenge   "LABOR" and had it sitting on my desk so I could add ideas for each letter as they came to me before I made my layout.   So here is what I came up with.

L = Layers - I have many layers on his layout.
A = Authentique - the ruler on my layout was cut from a strip of Authentique paper and Alphas, the       letters of my title.
B = Border - scalloped Border, Buttons, on my flowers and Banner where my title is.
O = Orange - Orange background paper and Orange on my chipboard flowers.
R = Ruler,  Rhinestones on scalloped edge and Round my circle piece on the layout.

This challenge is so much fun so I hope you will join in.   You have till the end of the month. You can read the details  HERE and also see what the design team did.

Jamaica Vacation Rental

I recently got copies of all the pictures from my brother of a vacation trip we took to Jamaica back in 1997 so just now getting to scrap these.     My brother was thinking about buying a home there to have for vacations and also rental income.   This house was one he had in mind and that is where we stayed for 6 days.    This a view from waters edge looking back at the house.   The lush gardens were so awesome.    Had I been scrapping back then I would have gotten a lot more pictures, but I'm glad I have these.    I used Sketch #277 at Creative Scrappers.   Where they have triangles in the sketch I added my flowers.    See the sketch below and check out the complete details HERE.

I am also going to enter this layout at the  Challenge #15 - All the Pretty Flowers at  Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge      I have had this single piece of paper that I used for the background of this layout for quite awhile but decided to use it to go with my picture and then I finally opened this package of orange paper flowers and added them to the layout.   The flowers are doubled up so they have more dimension and a better look to them.    I just love using flowers on my layout and got to use a lot on this one.   Check out the details for this challenge HERE, still a few days to use your flowers.
