Two Cute Cats

I haven't made a layout of any of our cats recently.   But this center PL card has been sitting on my desk for awhile now and the 3rd week sketch at "SKETCHES IN THYME" was perfect to use it and make a layout of two of our cats since I found them posing for me the other day.

Where Are We?

Another layout from our Route 66 trip,  I can only imagine how many I would have to do if our trip hadn't been shortened.     But when we complete the trip next spring I'll find out how many layouts I make then.

For this layout I used the August sketch challenge at  "SCRAP OUR STASH"  and I have a wood veneer cluster to the left of the pictures.

KANSAS

This is going to be my title page of the Kansas part of our Route 66 trip.     There are just under 12 miles on Route 66 going through Kansas, but still plenty of fun places to stop and see things.   I know we missed several but we saw what we could in the late afternoon of our first day on the road.   So I had bought this postcard and wanted to use it as a title page.   We did have stops and I have layouts of the 3 towns it shows in Kansas on the postcard.

I used sketch #258 at  "SKETCHES IN THYME"  for this layout.

Remembering Dad

On Friday, August 12th it will be two years since my Dad passed away.   He was 97 years old and had a wonderful life.    He was 97 years old and had a wonderful life, but we still wanted more time with him.   He was the caregiver for my Mom for 10 years before she passed in early 2005.   After that we wanted to make sure he got to enjoy a fuller life after giving up their traveling to care for her.  He traveled with my brother and I and other trips with us and his grandkids.   There were trips to Australia, to London, to Mount Rushmore, to Hawaii, to Mackinaw Island,  to DC, to Gettysburg to Iowa to the Field of Dreams and Coopertown Baseball Hall of Fame.    All places we wanted to take him to that he hadn't been to or as in Hawaii where he hadn't been in many years and where he and Mom had traveled and we also went back to Boyne Mountain, MI where he and Mom and friends spent a winter vacation skiing for many years.

He always loved his 4 grandkids so much but once there started to be great grandkids he became the Papa that was loved by everyone.    He was the heart of the family and glue that kept us all together.   He will never be forgotten by any of us and we always will share all the wonderful memories we had with him.

When I saw what the challenge was for August at  "SCRAP-CHALLENGE-YOURSELF"   I knew I had to make a special layout remembering my Dad.    I've made so many layouts in the past about times with Dad trips and holidays but this is the first one I have made "In Memory" of him.     You are missed Dad.

Route 66 Drive-In

For this layout I did the Scraplift at "SCRAP OUR STASH" and I added a border at the bottom and the number 66 for my title at the top.   These were taken on my Route 66 road trip in May with my brother.

Car Museum

The double page sketch for August at  "STICK IT DOWN"  was perfect for some of the pictures I took at a car museum in Springfield, MO on our Route 66 Road Trip this last spring.  I just rotated things a bit to work with the pictures I took.

Cars on the Route

This was another stop on our Route 66 trip.   We only made it two days before we had car trouble and then one day later on another part of the route here in Missouri but I took so many pictures over that time and we saw so much so my layouts keep adding up.   I'm betting I will have close to 70 when I finished with pictures I want to scrap from these 3 days.   But look out because we are starting the trip over for 13 days this spring and completing what we wanted to do.    Oh the albums these will fill.     I love it that at most stops we always parked where we could get a picture of the 66 Mustang we took at the majority of our Route 66 stops.   I'm not sure if we will take this car again or a 72 Ford Fairlane my brother is restoring.

I made this layout for the SCRAPPY FRIENDS combined challenge of the sketch from "ROCHELLE SPEARS BLOG"  and the tic-tac-toe challenge at  "SCRAP WITH STACY"

Here is the sketch:

And here is the tic-tac-toe board:   I did the center row, Stickers, Two Photos & Stars

Our Story

My first layout for August.    First off this was a scrap lift from a layout at Paper Issues but I made sure to use all the elements I needed for the first August challenge #610 at  "LASTING MEMORIES."

I have floral background paper, heart paper and one tiny heart embellishment and 2 different Washi Tapes across the bottom of my layout.

LM #610 - 3 Things - Week One

It is time for a new theme and a new set of challenges for August. For August our theme is - 3 Things - and each week you will be given a list of three items that you must use on your layout. How much or how little of each item that you use is up to you. You can also use other items that are not on the list but you must include the required 3 things. This week's challenge is:

LM #610 - Floral patterned paper, hearts, and washi tape

The hearts can be on patterned paper or they can be embellishments, and if you don't have washi tape you may use border stickers or paper strips.

HAPPY AUGUST SCRAPPING EVERYONE !!!

Off to Work

I was asked to be a Guest Designer here at Sketches in Thyme for the first new sketch challenge in August.   I loved this sketch and was ready to play along immediately.

I used the sketch to make this layout of my granddaughter Elle.  My daughter, son-in-law were in upstate NY visiting his Mom.   Meme had a special surprise waiting for Elle when she got there.   This electric tractor and trailer.   She took right off on it and was all over the neighborhood.   Plus she was helping Meme pick up sticks and such in the yard.

I hope everyone will join in with this challenge and all the challenges in August at "SKETCHES IN THYME"
