Week 12 PL pages

I'm really current this week and here is Page 1 for the week.   I thought it was going to be a hard
week to fill but ended up with a variety of things going on.   Of course can always turn to the cats to do something to journal about.

And here is page two for this week.   Really all I had to do was add pictures from Friday and then I took the tree picture today, because I love to see the trees starting to bloom as a true sign of spring.
I'm entering this page at Stuck on You Sketches as their challenge now is to have butterflies somewhere on your PL pages.   Be sure and check out the challenge        HERE.
I added two 3D butterflies on the top right card where I journaled about spring showing up for the majority of the week because for 5 days straight we have had warm weather.    I am so ready for this winter to be over with.   We are still having cool nights but hopefully that will be over soon too.

This is what fun looks like

I/m back today working on our vacation photos.    This layout I used the sketch at Scrap Much?
You can check it out   HERE    So glad I got the time to do this today because I really like the sketch.
Plus I got to use 3 pictures of Dad taken on 3 different days on vacation.     One on the boat when we went snorkeling,  then laying out by the pool at the house we rented then the last one taken the first afternoon we got there sitting on the bench at end of patio with our ocean view behind him.
Needless to say we all had a great, fun and relaxing vacation.
It might be hard to see in this picture but I did some faux white stitching all the way around the background paper and then my journaling is in white in the upper right hand corner.
I used some new collection papers I got a couple of weeks ago.   Jillibean Soup - Sightseeing Stew collection, it has a lot of fun patterns.     One page is a strip of sayings and patterns and I cut it out to use as my title and the arrows were on the strip too.   I just cut the strip into 3 pieces to make it work.

Here is the sketch I used.

Hiking

Still working away making layouts today and having a blast.    It's been a week since I've been this productive.    Whats great about this layout is I get to enter it into two different challenges.
I used this sketch #72 from My Scraps and More   see the challenge     HERE
Then because of the embellishments I added to the layout I get to enter this in the Scrap Our Stash
Birthday  Stash-A-Thon for March for challenge # 7 Confetti
Check out this challenge   HERE    I just added red mini candies in the middle of the green diamonds on the strip of patterned paper and then randomly on the two banners.      Viola "confetti"

Big Kids Fun

More layouts from their Australia trip.     This just shows all the fun these 2 big kids have when they are out and about.          I didn't follow any sketch but I went with the challenge at  "Lasting Memories"     Check it out     HERE

The challenge was called  "Scraps, Scraps, Everywhere Scraps"   and that is just what I did.   I used all papers from my scrap drawer but the piece of background papers.    Even the red matting on the pictures is patterned paper.    It was fun mixing and matching scraps to put this layout together.

Sightseeing in Oz

I'm still scrapping some pictures for Leslie from her trip to Australia in 2007.    I think she is going to be very pleased to get these,  I'm surprised I hadn't done this before for her.     I know she will like this picture with her uncle and grandfather.
I used Sketch #72  at My Scraps and More.    You can check out this sketch and other for the March challenges    HERE

This is a picture of sketch #73 that I used today.

Zoo statue pictures

This week I was looking at old pictures and went thru a group from the trip my daughter Leslie, my brother and my Dad took to Sydney, Austrlia.    Since I'm going to visit Leslie next month I wanted to get some more layouts finished to take to her.    So I've been working on layouts from this trip for her.
She is getting married May 4th so after that I'll be busy with wedding layouts and not much else.  :)

At Scrap Our Stash, Stash A Thon Challenge #11 is   Hats/Triangles.     Check it out    HERE
This birthday day challenge was to use triangles somehow on your layout, which can look something like birthday party hats.    When I was reading about this challenge I thought of these pictures of Leslie in her hat and the gorilla statue at the zoo, so knew those would be what I would use on my layout.    I even had patterned paper scraps to use to cut my triangles and viola I have my layout completed.     The title I got in a swap a few years back and it was on a piece of paper but I peeled it off the background paper and just used the cut-out for the title.     Then I used my white gel pen and did some faux stitching around the letters in the title to make it stand out.   I liked the look so went ahead and did faux stitching on the triangles also.

Mylan's 1st Soccer game

Here is the latest sketch at "Let's Scrap" that was posted today.    I needed a dbl page sketch to use for the Soccer pictures of Mylan I got last weekend and this sketch worked perfectly.
Check out the details of the challenge    HERE

Here is my finished layout.....using all the pictures I have of Mylan and her first soccer game.

The View

Today I've been doing all vacation layouts and also playing catch up wight eh birthday stash-a-thon at "Scrap Our Stash"   this layout I added bling around my journaling circle, on the corners of the picture and on the 3 blue card stock strips of paper on the right side of the layout  plus I then used sparkly Thicker alphas for the title so I could use it for Challenge #3 'Candles/Anything that Sparkles'      Check it out   HERE

Now for the sketch I used.     Creative Scrappers #263.    See all info on the challenger   HERE
Its not often you find a sketch for a 6x12 photo.   I print my own pictures at home and the largest photo paper I had was 8x10 so I made my picture 6x10 and used a border punch and card stock at the top and bottom.   I actually like the look of it because I also added some of the dark blue card stock strips across the right side of my patterned paper.
I have so many pictures of the waves out our back door during vacation it was great to be able to use one of the pictures in a larger way.

Pub Grub

This was a fun layout to make,  I played around with a lot of different papers before I settled on these, totally different than where I started but decided to go with the purples because of the purple shirt I had on.   So even the black and white word paper, i used purple card stock to mat it.    then matted purple checkerboard paper with white and used purple striped paper for background paper,  the only thing I stayed with was the dark gray dotted paper I used to mat my pictures and then around the journal box and food sign also.    I love matting now so challenge #1 at Scrap Our Stash stashathon b'day challenges was perfect for me.    Check out the challenge   HERE
The challenge is called Cake/Layering and you need to have 3 or more layers of patterned paper and/or embellishments.
These pictures are again from our Hawaii vacation.   We ate here,   Annie's Burgers twice at lunch time, the 2nd day of trip and then the last day also.    This was our first lunch there and we tried it all between the 4 of us, we had 3 different burgers (somehow didn't get pic of one of them) and Dad had fish and chips, and then as appetizers in the big picture, we had onions rings and jalepeno poppers and Dad and I had a drink, Dad a beer and I had a rum punch which was just as good as all the food we had.   Not a cheap place to eat, but no place was in Hawaii, the burgers were $15 each.

Color

Above is the sketch that I used for my layout.   This is the latest sketch at Let's Capture Our Memories.    Sketch # 63.      You can check it out   HERE
As soon as I saw it I knew what paper I was going to use for the 2 accent pieces.   I had a strip of floral paper left from a previous vacation layout I had made and knew I wanted to use it and my picture would be of some of the floral pictures I took on vacation in Kona.
Here is what I created.
I also am entering this layout at Lasting Memories for challenge #181 "Early Spring"
Check it out  HERE     The spring challenge was to use flowers on our layout.   So I covered all bases and have flowers in my paper, as my embellishments and also the subject of my photo.
I am so ready for spring here, so I'm loving scrapping non winter pictures.

Okika-Lani

I only got to make one layout today but I chose the newest sketch at      S.W.A.T.   Drill #28
I love the panoramic picture my brother took of the living room at the house we rented for our vacation in Kona two weeks ago.    The title I used is the name of the house "Okika-Lani"
This sketch below from SWAT worked great to just highlight this picture.    We had such a great time on vacation and I'm having a great time making this vacation album.   I usually don't make a full album from a vacation but this one that is my goal.   So far I have 5 pages made but many more ideas.

There is also a challenge at Scrap Our Stash for there Stash A Thon Birthday,   Challenge #2 was called cake line/Doily.    So this layout is perfect for it since I used 3 full doilys and 1 half doily.   It's hard to see in my picture because of the lighting but I have one large doily behind my picture and the strips of patterned paper.   Then there are 2 smaller dollies to the left and right, one inked with some green and one with some orange and then at the top of the layout I used a half doily and inked in in both green and orange to go with my colors of the layout.     Check out challenge    HERE.http://scrapourstash.blogspot.com/2014/03/stash-thon-birthday-challenge-2-cake.html

Palm Trees

We just got back on Saturday afternoon from a week long vacation in Hawaii.    So yesterday, even though totally tired I pushed myself to start making layouts from the trip.   I knew that I would probably be making several double page layouts so I went right to Let's Scrap blog to see what they had posted while I was gone because I knew I could always find great double page sketches there.
I wasn't mistaken I used the sketch from 3/5/14 for this layout.     Just showing some of the many Palm Tree pictures I took.   Check out the challenge   HERE     There is a great prize this week from
Pretty Paper Pretty Ribbons, a $15 gift certificate.      And below is the sketch I used.
