Our Grandkids

I ran out of one color for my photo printer and the replacement cartridge won't be here until tomorrow so for the last few days I've had to pull out old photos printed long ago to make layouts.

I used this photo of my parents and my two kids in front and my nephew Dad is holding.   We were all together for Christmas 1989 at our house, including both of my grandmothers, so in all we had four generations together.

I used  "ROCHELLE SPEARS" December sketch for this layout.    Then combined it with the tic-tac-toe challenge at  "SCRAP WITH STACY."    I went on the angle left to right Twine/Ribbon - Plaid - Tag.

Santa and his (her) Elf

My husband and I took a day and evening trip back to Kansas City to see all the special Christmas places we use to go to when we lived there.     One stop was at Union Station and they have really added on to one area for Christmas with all kinds of places for photo ops and once was this little place to place your face as Santa and his elf.   I'm sure it was more for the kids but I couldn't resist.

I'm entering this at "CHALLENGE YOURSELF" with the December challenge of Anything Goes as long as you have a picture of yourself.

Elephant Rocks

A whole layout with pictures of only me.   Will miracles never cease.     Nov. 7th we took a road trip for the day.   It was the perfect fall day and we were gone from 8:30 until 5:00, only got home then because I had to babysit my granddaughter at 7:00.   I've lived in Missouri practically all my life and there were two places I had never been, Meramac Springs and Elephant Rocks and we saw them both today.   So glad I chose these places for our road trip.   The colors were still beautiful in southern Missouri and the weather was mid 70's, what else could you ask for in November.

Im used the page map sketch for " SCRAP CHALLENGE YOURSELF"   to make this layout for their November challenge #119.

Beautiful Granddaughter

I thought the sketch for November at "ROCHELLE SPEARS BLOG" was perfect for this fantastic picture of my granddaughter who just turned 14.

I also combined it with "SCRAPPING WITH STACY" and her Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge.  I did the diagonal... One Photo, Corner Rounder and Enamel Shapes.

Mach 1

I flew down to Texas with my brother to pick up his new Mach 1 that he bought at a dealership there, he was looking for this exact color and this is where he found it.     We had a great but fast trip.   Our flight left at 5:20 a.m. one morning and the next evening at 5:30 we were back home in Missouri.   So a 36 hour road trip for us.

I made the layout to give to my brother for his album I add too.    It works perfectly for the first challenge for October at "LASTING MEMORIES".

LM #670 - As Time Goes By - Something New

LM #670 - Create a layout about something new: new school. new job , new car, new born child, etc. Add one or more journal spots.

Pumpkin Fun Run

I made this double page layout using a collection I just got as a gift.   It's an old Doodlebug collection called "Candy Carnival, but it's brand new to me as of last week.    The colors worked great for these pictures of my granddaughter Elle doing a Fun Run,  ten days ago.   This is her Halloween costume, the Pink Troll, her favorite Troll.

It works perfectly for the latest  "LASTING MEMORIES"  Challenge #673 = New Stash

LM #673 - use something that's new in your craft stash: a new dye, punch, paper, etc.

Chess

Our grandkids in St. Louis love to play chess and join clubs and play in different tournaments,  in this one they both one a trophy for their age group.

I'm using this for the challenge at  "LASTING MEMORIES"  Challenge #67   -   Family Sports and Hobbies.

LM #672 - Scrapbook something sporty or a hobby you or your family like to pursue.

New Lockers

I made this layout for the Challenge # 670 at  "LASTING MEMORIES"    My something new for the challenge is my two grandkids learning their Locker combinations for a new school year.    This is Gibson's second year in middle school and lockers and Addisyn's first year there and to have a locker.

LM #670 - Create a layout about something new: new school. new job , new car, new born child, etc. Add one or more journal spots.

Autumn Tree

I made this layout of a picture from our front door of the maple in the corner of our front yard.    The colors are so pretty.   I was out of town for a week so leaves had already stared to fall but I still was able to get a decent picture of the tree this year.

"LASTING MEMORIES"  Challenge #671 - As Time Goes By - Seasonal Colors -   Autumn for me.

LM #671 - Choose a color palette that represents a season such as Summer, Spring, Autumn, Winter and create a layout. Use bright colors or embellishments.

Take the Blue Highways

Back in the '80's I read a book that was on the best sellers list called  "The Blue Highways"  by William Least Heat-Moon.    It was about his travels around the United States and all the little towns he explored while traveling "the blue highways" and not the interstates.     I love doing this and try to get off the interstate whenever traveling.     My husband is more of an interstate and get to the destination, but I've taken several family road trips as a group and we travel off the interstate a lot of the time.    This layout is from one of 5 "Route 66" road trips just my brother and I have taken over the last 3 years.     In May we took two   2-day road trips thru Illinois on Route 66 and no interstate.   This was from the first of the two trips and the northern part on Route 66.    At this stop at the Polka Dot Drive-In in Braidwood, Illinois where we found everything Superman (and his phone booth which I posed in for pictures),  Elvis, the Blues Brothers and Betty Boop.   It was such a fun stop and something you would never see traveling down the interstate.     So I made this layout for the    "SCRAP CHALLENGE YOURSELF"  October challenge to use your favorite quote.   Mine being "Take the Blue Highways.

UTAH

My daughter and family took a 10 day camping trip to Colorado and Utah back in July and I'm starting to make some layouts from that trip for them.     These pictures were from when they first crossed the state line into Utah.   I love that they stopped and took pictures.

I'm doing the Scrappy Friends Challenge with this layout.     I used the sketch from "ROCHELLE  SPEARS BLOGSPOT"  What a great and fun this challenge was.  I loved it.

Next I did the Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge at  "SCRAP WITH STACY" .   I did the right column,   Doily, Chipboard (chipboard alphas for my title) and Cork, I used cork patterned paper around the photos.

Do you know the way to San Jose or make that Santa Fe

I'm combining this layout with two very different challenges.

First at "SCRAP CHALLENGE YOURSELF" #117 - Life Balance.   Family adventures bring balance to me, my brother and I love to travel the same way, with lots of 'stop and smell the roses' time.   This year we took a 10 day trip exploring more of Route 66.  Last year it was all of Missouri to Oklahoma City, this year we started exploring again in Oklahoma City and got all the way to Winslow, AZ, before starting home again.   This layout is pictures from part of return home trip, with a play on the song do you know the way to San Jose song, changed to Santa Fe for us.    So family time and seeing new places is what I look forward to in my life to bring balance to the everyday times at home.

Next this layout is for the Challenge #668 - Stash Busting - Layers at  "LASTING MEMORIES"

I have several layers of papers and pictures and embellishments and title letters and then I also used 2 buttons and one brad on my layout.

LM #668 - Create a layout with lots and lots of layering and use brads, buttons or bling or even better all three if you can.

Happy Birthday Dylan

This is our granddaughter Dylan in the center of this group of girls celebrating her 9th birthday with a sleepover with all her besties.

I am entering this layout at "LASTING MEMORIES"  for Challenge #667 - Stash Busting - Birthday theme.  I used 3 different patterned papers and use a tag with the #9 on it for my title.

Catching a Frog

I'm taking a little break from scrapping road trip pictures and catching up on family pictures.   This is a picture of my Granddaughter on Easter weekend when she caught a little from in her backyard.   She was so concerned about it and was looking all over for a safe home to put it back into the environment.

I used the Scrappy Friends Challenges for this layout.    Using  "ROCHELLE SPEARS BLOG" sketch and then the Tic-Tac-Toe board at "SCRAP WITH STACY"

I used the middle column down, Banner, One Photo and Journal Card.  I also added a butterfly and some enamel dots.

Welcome to Utah

My daughter and family took a 10 day trip from home in Missouri to Utah for some great camping and time in nature.      I need to get busy scrapping some of the pictures they shared on FaceBook.

This sketch #655 at  "LASTING MEMORIES", the last one for August was just perfect for these welcome to Utah pictures of everyone.

I made this layout today using the sketch #664 from  "LASTING MEMORIES"   A different sketch than one I've worked with recently and it was fun to use it.

Route 66 Museum

This is the third layout I've made about our stop in April at the Route 66 Museum in Clinton, Oklahoma.   There was so much to see and we took so many pictures.     So when I saw the sketch this morning at  "LASTING MEMORIES"  I knew it would be perfect for me to use a lot of photos from this stop.

Love my Grandkids

I just loved this July sketch at "THROUGH THE EYES OF ROCHELLE SPEARS"   I worked with it today and got it to work with so many challenges.   I combined the Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge at  "SCRAP WITH STACY"  by using the diagonal   Ink/Paint Splatter - Stars & Chipboard.     The my other monthly challenge  I like so much is  "CHALLENGE YOURSELF"  #115.   This month besides always scrapping a picture of yourself it was to be about your Happy Place, and this was me in my Happy Place with my Grandkids that live in Ft. Worth.   So glad to go visit with them on their home turf.

Adventures

This double page is actually my 2nd and 3rd page about Harley at Sandhill Curiosity Shop in Erick, OK.

If you follow Route 66 pages on Facebook, everyone posts their pictures and comments about where they stopped along the route and what they saw.   Harley the owner of this shop gets lots of comments and some warn you that he is brash and no filter so be prepared when you go in.    Well we are easy and nothing bothers us so we were looking forward to the stop.   Harley definitely doesn't have any filter but oh man he is ever a hoot.   We stayed so much longer than we planned, much longer than any other stop we made except maybe a large museum.   After our visit Harley told us to go to the lot next door and be sure and get pictures of the side of the building and all the signs he has collected and told us that it is his house at the end of the vacant lot and to walk back there and get more sign pictures.   He has so many old signs from the past roads and places along Route 66 and it was such a fun stop for us.

I used the double page sketch at "STICK IT DOWN" for this layout.

How Does Your Garden Grow?

My daughters family have to raised bed vegetable gardens and they are both doing so well.   You can see on one picture how big their zucchinis are by the one laying on her arm.    Elle loves to go out everyday and see what is new and ready to pick in the garden.

I used the single page sketch at "STICK IT DOWN"  for this layout.

Weekend Camping

I made this double page layout using pictures my son sent me over the weekend of this great camping site they went to for 3 nights.     As he described it this "old hippie" owns all this acreage around the lake and is setting up old campers he restored on the inside and panted on the outside for rental campsites.   Plus he has a house he uses as a lodge for room rentals too.    I think he said he is also clearing some of the acreage to make spots for tent camping.    My son was totally impressed with the owner and plans to go there for other camping trips.    It's somewhere between Dallas and Waco, TX.

I did my take of the double page sketch at     "STICK IT DOWN"     for this layout.

Sign Sign Everywhere A Sign

Another layout from part 2 of our Route 66 Road trip through Illinois,  we did two 2-day road trips through Illinois 2 weeks apart.  This was obviously in Girard, IL and our southern part of the trip..

I made this using the June 2023   "SCRAP OUR STASH"   sketch and I included 2 tabs, one tag  and creative title work.  I love this sketch I'm going to keep it and use it again.

The Sign

I've been wanting to scrap this picture.    On my brother and my 2nd Route 66 road trip in Illinois for April started in Springfield, IL.    Where we found this alley way of murals as we were walking back to our car after seeing some sights downtown.    We were taking pictures on both side of the alleyway and I saw this one.   I stopped and called Bruce over and standing in front of it I told him to take my picture.   Of course I could tell how he was aiming the camera for the first picture that he was leaving out the words above the mural.   He laughed and then took a couple of pictures including it all.

I'm entering this layout at  "SCRAP CHALLENGE YOURSELF"  for their June challenge #114 for your favorite song.    My Title "The Sign" is the name of a Foo Fighter song.   It's not my favorite song of theirs but the Foo Fighters is by far my favorite band.

I took the picture of my layout outside, sorry about the glare, you can't read "The Sign"  it says.

"She is my Sister Whom I Cherish"    this is why I got such a kick out of it when I saw it and had to have my brother take the picture.   We do so many road trips together and finding something like this always adds to the fun we are having.

My Car

I made this layout for the Scrappy Friends challenges.    I used the sketch from "ROCHELLE SPEARS" and the Tic-Tac-Board at "SCRAP WITH STACY"  the bottom row, Stripes, Circle & Brad.
