Grow

We started getting all our flowers potted yesterday.   I thought I had bought plenty and I most likely did but I know there is one more little table top that I want to put some flowers on at some point, just have to find the right mix.   I got these at a country greenhouse that was open and huge and very few people there on my mid week visit so I was wearing my mask and the workers were too and the few shoppers were too so I felt safe and there was lots of room to walk and look and pick your plants to keep plenty of social distancing.   I've been trying to not go anywhere including now only sending my hubby into last grocery store trip since they prefer only one family member shopping so I'm trying to
do my part to be safe for myself and others.

I'm going to enter this layout at  "THE STUDIO CHALLENGES"  the April 19th challenge is
Floral, so I have floral papers, embellishments and pictures.

19th April - Floral

Today's challenge is ...

  Floral; To celebrate spring, I want to see you use floral papers and flowers on your layouts

Spring 2020

This is my sign of Spring, when all the Redbuds are in full bloom.   Mix in the white of a few Dogwood trees and I know Spring is here.     This tree is at my brothers house and I'm so jealous, I moved from KC to the lake and now I miss seeing the redbud blooming that I had there right out
my kitchen window.

For this layout I used the sketch and April 15 challenge at  "SCRAP OUR STASH"   The sketch is
below and the challenge part was to use it and use floral patterned paper on your layout and add a butterfly.   I used three different floral patterned papers and there is even a flower in the background of my tag.   Plus you had to add a butterfly and I added six.   Here is the sketch.

XOXOXO

The bond between my Dad and his great granddaughter is remarkable.   From the first time he saw her at 1 day old they have made each other smile.   My daughter and family go to my Dads house every Sunday and they have lunch out, run some errands with him and then have play and visit time back at his house.   This was them over lunch getting ready to have a kiss (probably after a promise
to go get her ice cream cone for dessert.    She had her fist lick of ice cream off his cone one Sunday and then slowly got so she could have a small bowl for herself but now she has her own cone after eating.   So she and Papa both finish their Sunday lunch out with chocolate ice cream cones.

I used the sketch for this week at  "SKETCHES IN THYME"  for this layout.   It's a sketch made by
Nadine Carlier and it pushed me a little with the torn paper and all the bling, but I think it worked out
great for this picture.    I hope you play along with this sketch all the April sketches.   You have until April 30th to enter one or all the challenges for the month.

Happy Birthday to me

With being under a Stay-At-Home order for the coronavirus over my birthday, we stayed home but my hubby made me a very special birthday dinner for us to share.    We had shrimp cocktail, smoked prime rib, baked potato, fresh grilled asparagus and followed later in the evening with a chocolate cake.    So it was a very happy birthday for me.

I had printed these pictures last night because I knew I would be making a birthday layout and then this morning I checked out the newest challenges that come out mid-month and   "SKETCH N SCRAP" had the perfect Sketch #199 to use with my 3 pictures.   Below is the sketch.

Then I also had on my desk the newest challenge #493 from  "LASTING MEMORIES"  their word play challenge was TULIP  and this is what I used for those letters.

T = Teal
U = Uniball Gel Pen for my white journaling
L = Layers
I = Inking in black around my balloon heart patterned paper.
P = Patterned Papers

Easter Dinner 2020

The Coronavirus has everyone doing things differently and that includes Easter celebrations this year.
We stayed home just the two of us like we have been since beginning of April and didn't travel to spend Easter weekend with family.   But we did decide to do something special.   I saw the ad for Easter dinners at this little out of the way place that we go to (or did before all this happened) and they have such great food.   So we ordered our dinner from them.   They had "curbside" pick-up.  When we got there, there were 10 cars and people were practicing social distancing waiting for their boxes of food they had ordered to be brought out to the.    They were doing a rousing business and when we left a new group of a dozen cars were there.     We had decided to order dinner for 4,  a dinner for 2 of fried chicken and a dinner for 2 of ham.   We got the candied carrots, green beans and scalloped potatoes for our sides.   We had dinner Sunday noon and again Monday night.   There are still some carrots left and a few green beans and two rolls.    I can't complain, it was fantastic and two nights at home not having to decide what to eat.

For this layout I used the April Jump Start Sketch at  "THE SCRAPROOM GROUP"

Then I am also entering this layout at  "LASTING MEMORIES"  for their first April challenge for the month.    This month is all Word Play and the first word is  SPRING.

 Today kicks off our April challenges and they are going to be fun! DT Member Denise has picked our theme and set our challenges for April. Are you ready? Let's get started!

For April our theme is going to be - Word Play - and you are to use an item or technique for every letter of these spring words:
Here is what I used for the letters.
S = Sketch
P = Plaid Paper and also Patterned Paper
R = Red
I = Inking (all of the edges are inked with black ink)
N = Numbers (2020 on my title and the prices in my picture)
G = Green and also Gold

Best Day Ever

Just a week ago Elle got to watch her first full length movie.   Mom and Dad don't let her have a lot of screen time and a full length movie was quite the treat.    She was super Happy watching it all and laughed and talked about the animals.   A little scary but Scar was her favorite.   LOL

I am entering this layout at  "SCRAP OUR STASH CHALLENGE BLOG"   the first challenge of the month there is  "Feelings"   I chose Happy and have 3 embellishments on my layout, "Happy Day",
Happy Life" and "Happy Times"  all describing this experience.

Grow Together

This layout is for the Scrappy Friends double challenge.  I'm so glad I stayed with the circles like on the sketch and not take the easier route going with squared.   The circle are a fun look.
My daughter and son-in-law work for the University of Missouri and with the University being closed for the rest of the semester they are both on a work at home order.   So they took their
daughter out of day care also and they are finding all kinds of ways to work but also have fun projects together.   Last week they built a raised garden in their yard.   First Elle supervised from her chair on the sidelines but then found a job that she could do with wetting down the soil.    She loves helping her Mom and Dad with all they do.

I used the sketch at "RACHAEL SPEARS BLOGSPOT"

Then as I said I combined with the Tic-Tac-Toe challenge at "SCRAP WITH STACY"
There I used the middle column.    Gold (my title) Circles (my pictures) and Metal (I have a metal heart brad on my tag with my journaling and a metal heart love charm added to the bottom right picture)

Easter Card Time

I almost ran out of time to get cards made and sent out.   Since I won't be able to see my granddaughter Elle for Easter like we had planned I made this card to send to her and a little
treat inside.    My die cut for the challenge is the Easter Egg.

I used the card challenge CC82 at  "SOUL SCRAPPERS"     I'm going to keep this sketch and use it again sometime.   It will be great for so many different types of cards.

This months challenge is to:
Make a card...
1.  Using the sketch below...
2.  With an EASTER THEME...
3.  And... Add DIE CUT(S)

Easter Card

Got this made this morning so I can get it out in the mail to my grandkids in Texas.

I used the sketch #167 at   "SKETCH N SCRAP"   I haven't made a card in over a month so this was fun.

Here is the sketch I used.

Funny Twins

My granddaughter Addison got up and dressed for the day and then decided she wanted her dog Bo to be dressed like her too.   So they became twins for the day.

I'm entering this layout at  "SOUL SCRAPPERS"    Random Word Challenge.

The theme is The Men in our Lives - So I pushed that part because Bo is Male and he is the love of all family members because he is so sweet and gentle, he is Addisyns support dog as she has autism
and Bo is just her best bud and is such a calming influence for her.

The word choices were  HUMBLE, FEARLESS, BIG HEARTED, HARD WORKING, BRILLIANT or FUNNY.   You had to pick one and use it somewhere on you project.   I picked FUNNY and used it
in my title.

Puzzle Master

My granddaughter Addison loves jigsaw puzzles and will work on them non-stop.   Looks like she has a big one going on now.    She is great doing them and concentrates so much.   I'm always impressed.

I used sketch #415 at  "SKETCHES IN THYME"   for this layout.

Obsession

I will be the first to admit it.   I am obsessed with games on my phone.    I just can't sit with my hands still.   Even watching a TV show I like I still have to be doing something with my hands and that is
playing games on my phone.   Gummy Drop was my first choice, then I started the coloring pictures and I love those and now I've added Sort it 3D to the mix for something different.
But if this is my only obsession its all good.

I used the April sketch at   "LET'S GET SKETCHY"  for this layout.   Check it out and have some fun with it.

Sign of Spring

I love this picture of my granddaughter pointing out a little flower on the ground cover around the tree in their front yard.

I used the Tic-Tac-Toe board challenge at   "THE PAPER PLAYERS"    I used the diagonal
Pink, Spring and Patterned Paper

Busy Bees DIY

We did this together just this morning and we are still married.   The hubby has been wanting these sun shading film put on these 3 windows right where we sit every day for our meals.   I agree it
gets hot there and a lot of sun comes in during the summer.   But I was really concerned the film would be too dark and I wouldn't see through it well.    But I gave in during our time at home during this pandemic and said we could order the film and put it up.   It's not perfect but looks fine and we are both alive and still speaking to each other and I can see out just fine.   So its a win win.

After that project I came into my craft room and used the sketch #198 at  "SKETCH N SCRAP"
and made this layout.

Day 2

My daughter and Son-In-Law work for the University and they are closed for the rest of the semester and then the town they live in went on a stay-at-home order so they are working at home and they also took Elle out of Day Care to be at home with them.   It also made room for a child to be there that parents were still at an essential job and had no home care for their kids.

So this was Day 2 of home together and they made pages for Elle to practice her tracing and writing skills they had been working on at early pre-school.

I'm entering this at "SOUL SCRAPPERS"  for their April Survivor challenge about Stars.
I traced a large star and then cut it out for the main part of my layout.
