Happy Birthday Kat

I can't believe my Grandson is 8 years old already.    He had a birthday party last month and had a MineCraft themed party.   The cake they got looks so good and he was thrilled, he had no idea they would be able to get one like that.    It looks like they were having a lot of fun,    I used the double page sketch at the "Shop Scrap Much" blog and used a mixture of papers from the K&Co. Confetti collection, plus I used 3 different card stock colors for matting of the pictures and some of the paper pieces.    The 3D title I had just bought yesterday on clearance to use on a birthday layout whenever I made my next one.   I had no idea that today I would decide this sketch would work great for some of Kai's pictures.    There is still plenty of time to enter the challenge, check out the details   HERE   and I added the sketch below.    Happy Scrapping.

Back to the Mountain

Still have some pictures I want to get on layouts from our road trip last month so was glad to find this sketch.    I had these 3 pictures that I knew I would probably want to scrap together so this was perfect.   This is the Sketch #62 at  "Sketch-n-Scrap"  and I got to use Authentique -Loyal collection which is a favorite.   We got to take Dad back to Boyne Mountain, MI to see where he and Mom took ski vacations about 60 years ago.   There was a new lodge but also the lodge where they stayed was still there and in use and he loved seeing all the old sites.   The sketch is below. 

Day Trip

Another vacation layout.   We took a day trip with no destination in mind, just that we were going to go to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan from our hotel in Mackinaw City.     A few weeks back we had talked about driving to Sault  St. Marie on the Canada side and we all brought our passports but even with several reminders my brother forgot his, so couldn't go.    So this day trip took us to Paradise, MI and a walk around the state park and saw both the lower and upper Tahquamenon Falls.
On this layout I used a variety of papers.   The ticket admit one paper is something I've had probably for 5 years its from Nikki Silvis and the Will He B the 1 collection.   the the square of paper behind the pictures and where my journaling is is actually Christmas paper and it from Lily B Designs and the Christmas Cheer collection.   The big piece of paper on top of the blue card stock is a10.5x10.5 piece of a Michigan road map that I cut out to use as my background paper.    I used yellow Thickers on my title and the little card to left of pictures that has 7/22 on it was the pass we bought for the day to put in the car to go into the state park for the day.
I used the sketch at My Scraps and More for the layout, I picked it because I could use my map as big part of the layout.   They have a great prize for the August challenges so check it out HERE  and see the sketch below.

TV Time

I've had this picture of Mylan printed for probably 2 yrs now and never scrapped it even though I just love it.   I was looking thru some printed pics over the weekend and I pulled this one out to work on this week.    This morning when I saw the new sketch at Let's Get Sketchy, even though it showed a horizontal picture I knew I would still use it even though this picture was vertical.    I looked thru my collections and decided to pull one out with just a few pages and scraps left in it and see what I could do.   I pulled out the Fancy Pants - Trend Setter collection and decided to use up more of it.   I probably would never had used this numbered background paper for any layout but with the sketch I knew I would use some solids and just a little more patterned paper.    So I'm glad I went for it and it all went together.  I just did a little inking with it and some of the sticker elements that I already had with the collection and it was completed.    You can check out the details of challenge  HERE and I have the sketch below to see.

Dixie Stampede

This was my favorite dinner spot on our vacation in Michigan.   I had the fresh caught whitefish, which was my dinner of choice then the next 2 nights also.   But here at the Dixie Stampede is was so very very good, it was baked in a lemon butter sauce and I ate every last bite.   We got here early, probably about 5:15 to 5:30 and got seated upstairs immediately and then when we left there were probably 25+ people waiting for tables, so our timing was perfect.    All the tables and the window frames had been written on with the names and dates of dinner guests there.   So we added our names too.    You know you are a true scrapper that while writing my name I was thinking how I had to have pictures to include in a layout.    The paper I used was from the DCWV "The Gilded Paper Stack" and it was perfect colors and then having the background wood look paper and just some shine to it with the gold patterned paper I used for the banners and then finished it off by using gold Thickers for the title.    Colorful Creations had the perfect sketch for me to use with their Aug. 1 sketch.   Check out the details  HERE and see the sketch below.   I changed it a bit to fit the format of my main picture.

Party Time Card

I made this birthday card for the latest challenge at  Nacho Average Challenges,  it is an anything goes challenge where you just pick one of the sketches  or color challenges between 1 and 99 on their blog.    I picked Sketch #20.   I jus loved the look of the circles and then when I found the grid paper in my scrap stash I really thought they would work well together.   I used stickers I had from an SRM set and with pop dots under the full center circle, I'm really pleased with the results.   I can always use more birthday cards.   You can read the full details on the challenge  HERE

PL Week 30 - Summer

I panic if I get behind on PL pages.  Last week after vacation I had to do two weeks worth and I realize why I like to make them during the actual week and add as things come along.       The "SUMMER" prompt at "Stuck on U Sketches"  was perfect because I already had this Summer bingo card set out to use this week with the end of July and first of August.   So I just picked a spacer card to go with the summer theme and a journal card to write on too.     I finished page 1 for this week last night and then I'll finish up page too probably tomorrow as I don't know of anything special going on for Sunday so will be able to add what I have for the week.   Check out the full details of the challenge HERE.    It's been so fun to have a PL challenge to work with every month.
