The Amazing Burr Oak

 

This mighty Burr Oak tree is well known around Missouri, sitting alone out in the bottom land close to McBain, Mo.   It has outlasted vandalism, many floods, lightning strikes and even a fire inside it last year.

My granddaughter was quite impressed with the size and this picture really shows the massive size of this

wonderful and beautiful tree.

I was inspired by the challenge #545 - World Penguin Day at   "LASTING MEMORIES".

 LM #545 - World Penguin Day - Today is World Penguin Day - it is around this time that the penguins start their northward migration, so in honor of the penguins - 

Create a mostly black and white layout with just a splash of color - OR - use a black and white photo (or photos)

Spring Memories

 

We took a walk around Shelter Gardens to see all the spring flowers this last weekend before our expected snow and freeze a day ago.

I went with the latest challenge prompt at  "LASTING MEMORIES"  for this layout.

This is my last Easter layout for this year.   My two grandkids in Texas.   I made another layout of them from this Easter yesterday and that will go in their ongoing albums for them to take home but this one will go into my chronological holiday album.

I'll be entering this at  "USE YOUR STUFF"  for their challenge #420  EASTER/SPRING.

Here is the new challenge for your enjoyment!  Our theme is Spring/Easter  (now I know Easter is done, but if you still feel like making some projects that have that feel to them, go right ahead!)

Easter in Texas

 This is a layout of my two grandkids in Texas.    Their Mom was sure to send me lots of pictures of them with their baskets.   I love it that they are still using the same baskets they had from their first Easter on.  I love traditions throughout the years.

For this layout I used the double Scrapping Friends for the challenge with the sketch made my   "ROCHELLE SPEARS"  and then the Tic-Tac-Toe challenge at "SCRAP WITH STACY",    I always love working with Rochelle's sketches and for Stacy's tic-tac-toe I used the left column,  Border Punch, Foam Stickers and a Banner.

Easter Basket

 

For this layout of my granddaughter and her filled Easter basket I used the fun sketch challenge #464 at   "LASTING MEMORIES"  I used a lot of scraps to do this layout and some old Easter basket stickers as my embellishments,  I love it when I get to use things I've been saving

You Are My Best Friend

 

Elle has three dogs in her family and she takes turns treating them as her #1 friend, lately it has been Malcolm that is always by her.   The picture on left was one day she had a stomach bug and Malcolm stayed right by her while she spent the day resting on the couch.   The other picture was after Malcolm had stayed at another house while they were busy doing some work on the house and it was easier without the dogs around, so Malcolm got a lot of hugs when he came home that evening.

I used the April 15th sketch challenge at  "SCRAP OUR STASH"  along with using the sketch  you had to be sure and use an arrow as an embellishment, I added 3 gold puffy sticker arrows.

April Showers Bring May Flowers

 

April Showers bring May Flowers and also beautiful flowering trees.    I was so happy to see we have both a Redbud and Dogwood and also a flower Cherry tree (not in picture) in the front yard of our new home and also a large redbud on the side yard and one in back yard and several in the woods behind us.   I just love this time of year when the trees are at their peak.

I used Sketch #223 at  "SKETCH N SCRAP"  for this layout.

Welcome to Paradise

 

Our son and family took a Spring Break vacation to Mexico and had so much fun and got some awesome family pictu   "SOUL SCRAPPPERS"    Below is the layout I scrap lifted.

Welcome Home

 

I'm finally getting around to making a layout about our new home here in Columbia.   We are so happy here.   We both fell in love with the house just seeing the pictures online when it was listed and then we saw it in person and decided to not look at anything else this was the house for us.   We love it.

I'm using this layout to enter in the April Mood Board Challenge at  "SOUL SCRAPPERS"   I was inspired by the colors on the board  including all the black in the pictures and the square that had the rainbows also the square with the door that goes with our front door in the picture.

Easter Egg Hunt

 

I just finished this double Easter page of my granddaughter.   I got to be with her this year for Easter, last year was Covid, the year before I was out of town, but this year we live in the same town so I'm enjoying more of these special moments.

 LM #542 -  Word Play Challenge - EASTER - Since today is Easter Sunday - use a scrappy item, theme, or technique for every letter in the word "EASTER". Your layout does not have to be Easter-related - it can be about anything. And since there are 2 "E"s you will need to include 2 different "E" items. Please let us know what items you used for each letter. 

New Lawn

 

    I made this simple but fun layout today for the newest  "LASTING MEMORIES"  Challenge #543 to use a 4x4 photo.   The reason behind the challenge is that April is the 4th month.   Well I doubled up on 4x4 size because my birthday is April 4th.

 Hello, everyone! Welcome back to Lasting Memories! I do hope that you are having a good weekend. 

It's time for our second challenge of the month so let's get to it. All of our challenges for this month have something to do with April and things that happen during the month. Here is this week's challenge:

 LM #543 - 4x4 photo - Since April is the 4th month of the year - include at least one - 4x4 photo on your layout. (You can include more than one and you can include other sizes, as well.)

My 70th Birthday dinner

 

My 70th birthday was on Easter Sunday and we celebrated most of the day with my family that lives here in the same town, starting with breakfast and ending with dinner together.   Then last night my hubby and I went out for a special birthday dinner.

I'm entering this layout for   "SCRAP-CHALLENGE-YOURSELF"   The challenge for April is to pick a letter and use it as often as you can with items on your layout.   I chose the letter "B"  first off my name is Barbara so that is a B,  then Birthday, is in my Title (Happy Birthday), Baxters (where we had dinner),  I also have Buttons, Bling, the color Blue, a Banner, Balloons on my paper and in an embellishment and on the tag on the right page I have a Butterfly and a Bow.

This month, we would like you to pick one letter and use it in various ways on your layout.  For example, if you chose the letter P, you can use PAINT, PEARLS, PATTERNED PAPER, etc, and a use word that begins with P in your title.   

**Please remember to include a photo with YOU on your layout.**  

On Vacation

 I got these great pictures of my grandkids from Texas while they were on Spring Break down at Hilton Head, South Carolina.     I'm going to have fun scrapping all the great pictures they took.

For this layout I used layout sketch #222 at   "SKETCH N SCRAP".

Vacation photos

 

Our  St. Louis kids and grandkids went to a resort in Mexico for Spring Break and had a great time.     So I"m starting to scrap some of the many pictures they posted for them.

I used the   "SCRAP OUR STASH"   April 2021 Remix challenge,   I scrap lifted the layout by  the DT member Gail Dowler and added butterfly embellishments for the requirements of butterflies added to the layout.

Spring Flowers

 When we moved into our new house 3 weeks ago.   All I knew was I had all kinds of green leafy plants coming up all over but had no idea what they would be.   Most of them are daffodils but many other surprises are opening up now.    I'm so happy because I've never lived anywhere with so many spring time bulbs all planted around.

I used the Sketch #463 by Brenda Ragsdale for the first in April at  "SKETCHES IN THYME" for this layout.   It was certainly fun to work with and will be one I keep to use again.
