Verna Bratton

I found this old picture, probably taken about 1996 with my ex-mother-in-law.   I thought of the challenge at "Lasting Memories" - Gratitude.    I was blessed with a very loving and wonderful mother-in-law for 30 years.   Not to many people can say that there mother-in-law lived with them for half their married life with barely ever a disagreement.    I will always be grateful for her and how she raised her children and loved her grandchildren.   I'm so glad my kids had her in their life for so many years.    I wanted to make this simple layout with not to many frills, just the picture of her, her son and myself.   I plan on doing a lot of journaling on the back for my kids to have to remember her in the future.
Check out the challenge at "Lasting Memories"    HERE.

MOO

Dylan found a pretty big pet here.  I don't think he will fit into the backyard.   :)

I used the sketch at "The Memory Nest" for the National Scrapbook Day giveaway.    It was perfect for me because of all the layering on the layout I got to do, plus with using all the patterned papers i also got to mat everything which I love doing.      Here is the sketch I used.    If you have some scrapping time today and want to join the challenge, you have till midnight tonight to enter.

Orchids

Sometimes you just have to use the sketch twice.      I picked the sketch at "Stuck?! Sketches"
to make my layout today because I could use 3 pictures.   I knew I wanted to make a layout of the pictures of all the orchids we saw this last week when we went to the Kaufman Memorial Gardens here in town just to have a leisurely stroll one morning.    But then I couldn't decide what pictures to use so I just decided to use the same sketch twice and make a double page and use 6 of the pictures I took.   Problem solved.

I went back and forth with the sketch and trying to decide if I wanted to cut a paper circle to put on my layout, since the sketch showed a circle behind everything but I just couldn't decide on what papers to use after pulling out at least 6 different patterns and colors to look at.   So I just decided to trace a circle in black and go with that, but wasn't satisfied yet till I added some white pearls on the circle.   I think pearls and orchids go together just fine.   :)

Here is the sketch I used and then go here to "Stuck?! Sketches" to read all the details on the challenge plus get some great inspiration from the Design Team.

Fun Day !

It's NSD and I've been scrapping all day.   I started out with this layout because I get to enter it in 3 challenges with the May TicTacToe and Scrappy Friends Challenge

To break it down,  I started at "Rochelle Spears" blog and played along with her May Tic Tac Toe
challenge,  I used the middle row of Butter, Flower and anything Pink.    I have butterflies on my papers, and 3 little punched butterflies, I have pink yardstick as my background paper, pink doily and pink in the butterflies of the patterned paper and then I have one green foam flower embellishment plus all the flowers in my two pictures.

Next I went to one of the Scrappy Friends "Grand Diva's Creative Corner" and used Brenda's  May sketch.

I really liked this sketch and I used a background of pink yardstick so you could see the divide of my main background paper which was one piece I cut down a bit from Kathy David - Butterfly Promise collection, the green butterfly paper sticking out from behind the pictures is also from that collection, the polka dot paper for the banner under the picture and the mini banner where I stamped the date was just paper from my stash and then instead of more paper to right of the pictures I used part of a pink doily.

Then the reason I went with these papers is because of the 3rd Scrappy Friends challenge I'm entering and that is Kelly's color challenge at "Creating With Paper and More.  Most all the colors were already in my paper choices but I pulled bit more of the paler green with my glittery foam flower embellishment on the bottom corner of one picture and the the bright pink Thicker alphas that I used for my title
I believe this sis the first time I've ever been able to combine all 3 of the Scrappy Friends challenges and I'm so glad I went for it.    Plus I also got to scrap pictures of us from earlier in the week when we spent the morning walking around the Kaufman Memorial Gardens here in Kansas City

Here are the links for each challenge.

BRRRRRR

I have everything cleaned up on my desk and ready for a big day of scrapping tomorrow on National Scrapbook Day, but I just had to make one layout today.

I saw the challenge announced today at "Curtain Call Inspiration" of 'Travel On'   so since I only have a couple more layouts left to do from our road trip then end of March I knew I would work on this one first off.   Now only one more layout and I've actually finished a complete vacation album.

Next I saw another challenge announced today and that was at "Scrapping 4 Fun Challenges" and that challenge was - Challenge #41 'Flags', they had an example sketch that didn't have to be used but I had never made a layout like it so I decided to go ahead and use the sketch and put my pictures on 3 banner/flags.

So be sure and join in the fun, check out detail at   "Curtain Call Inspirations"

Spring 2015

Even though we were spared from having a lot of snow here in Kansas City this winter but it was cold.     So I'm very happy that Spring is now officially here in Kansas City.     We got home from vacation at midnight Easter night and woke up to see all our flowering trees totally budded out.
I'm so glad I didn't miss it.      Then later in the week we went out and bought the majority of our annual flowers to plant in pots around the house.

Check out the 5-1-15 sketch at "Let's Scrap" and see who it inspires you.    Maybe you will do a spring layout too.     There are so many ways to go with this sketch.

Just click  HERE  and you will see all the details at "Let's Scrap"  Hope to see  a lot of entries.

Fun Times at Legoland

My grandkids went to Florida over their spring break to see their Grandpa and they got to go to Legoland for a day.    And looking at all the pictures I got off FB from their trip it looks like they had a blast.  I kinda want to go now, I would love to see all the lego items built there.    I actually didn't have a single horizontal picture in all the ones they took while there so I googled Legoland Florida images and found several.  Some with the entrance and some inside, but I really liked this picture of the map of everything so just saved that image and printed it for my layout.

For this two page layout I used the sketch that was posted today at "Scrap Much?!"   I'm on Design Team A and we are all sharing our layouts with you today so go to "Scrap Much?!" and check out the sketch and all the layouts the others on the DT made and be sure and enter and take the challenge and share your layout with us too with a chance for a great prize.   Hope to see lots of entries because I'm sure you will love this sketch as much as I did.

So go to "Scrap Much?!" for all the info you need.
